Oh dear, seeing reports on another forum, from people who are in DLP and others who were there last week that the CM's are not enforcing the selfie stick ban. Just like the smoking ban, the DLP CM's just dont care and as a result people are reporting back that they are seeing lots of selfie sticks in the parks! :(

Bad news. I really and I mean really hate these sticks !!

Oh dear, we really noticed what a pain in the proverbial they are last month when we went to Universal where they're not banned! Wish Disney would ban tablets too.

 I don't know what's worse the person with the selfie stick in that picture or the family we had in front of us on POTC taking flash photos ALL the way round on two different cameras.

If anyone is waving one of those about while I'm on a right and going to have to be "that guy" and tell them to cut it. So invasive of other people's space and experience. I feel the same way about people taking flash photos in dark rides.

Strangely the smoking doesn't bother me and I'm a lifetime non-smoker.

I went to DLP in March and these where awful! Standing watching the parades and one of these came over my shoulder and across my face. Another time someone turned round and whacked me in the face with theirs. No apology...they didn't care. HappyPanda we had the same problem on POTC ! I was soooooo going to be 'that person'! lol

Totally agree with the bolded, why would anyone risk taking a table into the parks, could easily be stolen or dropped

Hate them with a passion too.I could imagine cast members getting a heck of a lot of abuse from Joe Public when they're told not to use it,and if the CM is young and not tough enough they'll just get walked over.I work in retail and see daily how abusive an arrogant customer can be.
Anyway,i still don't think they are as bad as those hideous cardboard periscope things people use to have, stand behind someone with those and you see nowt:headache:

Aside from the safety issue with some numpty's using these on rides, etc , I'm not too bothered about these selfie-sticks and can't see why they've bothered with a ban.
Surely it would be no different than trying to use a camera or phone at the same inappropriate time?

I watch people struggling to take photos of themselves or with a partner and often see the awkward, aprehensive look on peoples faces when I offer to take a photo of them....so I can see why people like to use them.
I'd be interested to know why people don't like others using them.

I've never used one, but then again I rarely use a camera.
My wife is always concerned with recording everything that goes on, but I often think that it's easy to ruin your enjoyment of an something, just so you can watch a poorly captured, grainy, wobbly recording of it at home later - I'd much rather enjoy it "live" :)

You're right, the pic from IASW looks ridiculous - but for me, it's no more ridiculous than someone doing the same with a professional style zoom lens camera you'd normally see the paparazzi using or people using their iPads for videos and pictures - which always amazes me as it looks so awkward & uncomfortable :)

As long as people don't use them irresponsibly, like on rides or putting the over the heads or others, I don't see a problem.

I also don't get what the fuss is. We were over early on the year and didn't notice people with them. Dont think there any worse than using phones on ride (which I wouldnt).

Tbh if their not willing to do anything about the smoking which is horrendous their not going tobe too fussed over these.

Just an FYI, paparazzi don't use zoom lenses normally, their du jour lens is the 400mm f/2.8 (which doesn't zoom at all). These are the two usual suspects: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Pr...nses/AF-S-NIKKOR-400mm-f%2F2.8E-FL-ED-VR.html
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup/ef_400mm_f_2_8l_is_ii_usm

... which are both pretty useless at WDW. They're too long to be effective at the distances normally encountered.

I was on selfish stick watch the past 3 days.

I am pleased to report that i only saw two on the entire trip.
One lady had a stick just outside the disneyland park entrance near the disney hotel.
The second was a child holding one walking up main street. Either her parents hadnt seen the signs going into the parks or they deemed themselves special and the rule didnt apply to them.

Smoking on the other hand. That vexed me. Ignorants smoking in the main areas.
Wish Disney would give me a job where i could be on smoke watch. They wouldnt lite up twice if i had that job.

I saw about two in early nov, but to be honest it wasn't bothering me so I didn't look that hard.

The smoking in the parks is really bad, so much so we didn't think that Disney had banned it we saw and had smoke blown in our direction so often.

If they wan't to enforce it they need to be enforcing it at the entrance. It's the same in Tokyo Disneyland but I did actually see cast members go up to people using them and tell them they weren't allowed when I was in Tokyo, nothing happens in Paris.

They do, I often see the security at the DV car park side send people back to their cars with them. I think some people just put them in their pockets and carry on.

Cms also tell people in the park to put them away but as with anything not everybody either listens or the cm doesn't want to get hassle which I can also understand.

This week I was in the park 3 times and I didn't see anyone with one so it's improving (y)
