Hey everyone! It didn't look like anyone had created his thread for September yet, so here....we....go....

I'm going to aim for 17 No Buy Days to help build off my previous month's success.

1-No Buy #1

1/15 Days So Far, off to a good start!

Thanks for starting the new thread :flower1:

September should be an easier month. I am going out of town at the end of it and am trying to use up a lot of items from the freezer and pantry this month. My goal is 15 no buy days.

Yesterday was a speedy one but I stocked up on essentials at Target with coupons.

9/1- $4.89 Chick fil a, $17.89 Gas, $36.29 Ulta, and $120.76 Target

0/15 No Buy Days

I am in! I did so bad last month!!!! My goal is 10 days again.

9/1 $88 for groceries

0/10 No Buy Days

I'm going to follow along. Having taken DD back to university today, with a quick trip to Wal-Mart, and, of course lunch, AND a trip to WDW in the last half, I don't have a lot of hope, but I am going to record buy or no buy before the trip. And I'm only going to include the 'extras' for those day. I'll hope for 8 for those days that I'm home.

1: $0
2: buy

Yep, no buy for 2 days so far. Way too much spending this summer. Only going to use card for gas and food. Thanks for this thread.

2-spent $20 to join my work's college football league, I'm the defending champion and I won $150 last year so it's a good return on investment if I get lucky again, otherwise it's just fun:cool2:

Yesterday was one of my days off, I did go out and do a little shopping. I am reorganizing my room, and needed some containers. Plus I needed to grab some grocery items for Sunday as we are heading up to the island to spend the day.

Today is another day off and I am already calling it as I am going to spend the day doing laundry and cleaning.

9/2- $34.56 At Home, $18.86 Sam's club, $4.12 Wendy's, and $21.86 Aldi
$9/3- $0

1/15 No Buy Days

I was going to up my goal to 15 days this month, but with DH and I closing on our new house at the end of the month I'm not sure that will happen! I'm planning on stockpiling a lot in terms of toiletries, less-perishable food/condiments, etc. at Kroger's mega sale over the next two weeks to have to move into the new house since we are literally starting FROM SCRATCH! I'll tentatively go for 15 days though!

1- no buy

Oh my, thank you for starting this! I bombed August (and all of summer) so back to the drawing board I go!

I will occasionally look at these "no buy" threads and i must admit i dont really get it. What doea it matter whether you buy something 10 days or 20 days? What matters most is WHAT you are buying and HOW MUCH you are spending. You could spend $20 a day x 30 days = 600 and that can be on all legit expenses...say food and gas. Or you can only spend money on only 3 days and those expenses add up to $1200 which includes a lot of things you don't even need....decorations/knick knacks/expensive dinner out.

What's up?

Since each person sets their own goal-and it might be something like spend $x on groceries or not spend frivolously, or just stay out of the stores-there is no one answer for "what's up". You are right in that food and gas are "legit", but for me, buying junk food is not, so that might be my goal. Some people only record non-essential spending. Recording it here allows one to actually ponder and analyse your spending, determining if you are spending wisely, where you can save, and make plans to budget even better. I don't have to do this, but by recording it here, I am being accountable to me.

I'm back for another month! All of the back to school expenses are out of the way and what's really great is that I don't have to pay for afterschool care anymore. Yay! That's a nice amount saved each month. This month I'm going for 15 days. I'm only counting my miscellaneous spending and eating out. Gas, groceries and other budgeted amounts don't count.

Week 1

4: No Buy #1

Everyone here sets their own goal. For me, I don't count monthly budgeted expenses like gas, groceries, rent, utilities, etc, because those expenses are essential to my every day living. I would be setting myself up for failure in a challenge like this because those have to be paid no matter what. I usually count miscellaneous spending like stopping at Starbucks, online shopping, buying stuff I don't necessarily need only want, eating out, etc. I'm trying to stop myself from spending money on "wants and conveniences". The challenge helps me be more self aware of my spending. That's how I see this challenge. Others may view it differently for themselves.

I am trying for 15 days this month, but I am not sure if that will happen.

I tried to log into my bank site to check things, but it is down for maintenance right now. For safety I am going to say that I spent on the 1st-4th and will check that later.

EDIT: finally got into my bank account so i can check the other days!

September 1st- only my Uber ride to a job interview, I don't think I am going to count things like that because I have no control over that. So I am going to call it $0.
September 2nd- Spent. Way too much but it was a special day
9/3- $0
9/4- It was a health thing, but I am going to count it as a spend.
September 5th- $0!
9/6- $0
9/7- Spent
9/8- $0

5/15

Just back from Disney yesterday, so I will join in from today onwards.

Hmmm....let's see. I'm going to include gasoline, groceries and all other variable expenditures. I have a budget of $60 a week for gasoline and $135 a week for groceries. We are not doing family fun money this month since we just got back from vacation, but I have to get the kids some new shoes this week and pick up a few odds and ends at the dollar store over the course of the month, otherwise we are trying to keep the purse strings drawn tight.

I'll aim for 18 days.
