Jedi Training Academy Closing Sept 12?

I just heard from Make-a-wish:

Just heard back from our Florida chapter. Samantha learned from our Disney contact that the Jedi Training Academy is going under refurbishment from October 4 through December 1 with no alternative options during that time. I’m so sorry for any inconvenience this might cause!

Thank you for the info..well another deception about the trip :( after baymax leaving, blizzard beach clsoed instead of typhoon..fp+ parade not available in november.. not art of animation fro drawing.. that's make a lot :(

Aaaagh. I just booked the sci if breakfast pre park opening hoping they would have the JTA back up.
This is the fourth thing on our list that's gone now with little notice....but this is the worst one for us. I guess we have to make the most of it.

Kids crying, they want to cancel the trip. Geeze...what a bummer! Hope they are less dramatic after they get used to the idea lol

Man that sucks for everyone. I'm still holding out a sliver of hope. We're there 29th November until 11th December so fingers crossed we can still get Darth

I find this interesting. A lot of us expected Training Academy to move indoors but this makes it sound like it's going to stay in it's current area for awhile. The fact that it is closed for a longer stint make it feel like the stage is being rebuilt. It is a stage show so any character/show changes could be done backstage and rolled out at any time with any break in schedule. Likewise if it was moved indoor they could run current location until the new one was ready. Hopefully the Launch Bay will be up by then so Star Wars younglings will at least have something else to entertain them.

These were my thoughts as well....closing for 2 months is a strange timeline?

I am probably the only who thinks this but I think the change to JTA is needed! My son was excited to try JTA but after watching the you tube videos he decided he didn't want to do it. He thought the teacher was kind of rude sounding to the kids. Plus I think they need a better system for signing up.

Wow. Our scheduled DHS is 10/3.... wonder what the line for signups that day will be like?!?! :scared::eek:
lol you probably need to get up really early..but you are Lucky to get the chance to do it :( and.. you will have probably a DV that will be very emotionnal if it's gonna be he's last show

Oh man I hate to whine but DANG IT. we're taking a trip for our DS9(turning10)'s birthday, and seriously planned most of our trip around that. The day we had planned for DHS...Nov 30th-his birthday. To do JTA. Oh man we might have to change a LOT around now...and hope we can get in because this would break my heart. (He knows nothing of the whole trip so that's not a huge deal yet for him) I'm definitely following this thread, hoping we can learn more as trip time approaches.

Not so strange if you consider the opening of the new film on December 18th. If, indeed, they're going to install characters from the new movie into it.

We have our trip planned for November and were planning for our 9 year old to try JTA for the final time (aging out!)...last year we were rained out and they only got the meet and greet...for the previous 8 trips - DS was too chicken to do it - but our then 4 year old wanting to do it was the push he finally needed! And then - Rain!

ohh man! Our last trip was his first time, and we were there only four days...and day one, dhs jta day...oldest gets a nasty stomach bug. The rest of us got it too, slowly but surely took us all down. This was our redemption attempt not just for jta bur WDW in general!

Do they give you another time for your child to join JTA if it's a rain out? Or is it a tough luck situation?

I think I read somewhere on the boards that they might do a meet and greet for the kids that were supposed to be in the show, but that they don't give you another time. If the closure time rumors are true though, it makes it not matter when I'm there (Bummer).

They do photo op/meet n greet with Vader and storm troopers - it lasts about 40 seconds - and they get a certificate...having been to Star Wars weekend, this was only marginally better because there is a storm trooper in the photo, but otherwise it's nice they do SOMETHING - but I would much rather they just hold it indoors in the registration room or some other facility even if they can't do the whole story..

That is nice they do that. So much better than "sorry we don't control the weather, try again tomorrow".

Do you think they are moving to sci fi breakfast during reburb? Just a thought

I am certain they wouldn't do JTA during breakfast at Sci-FI. Do you mean make it a character breakfast with Darth Vader or some Star Wars characters? I doubt it given that it isn't priced like the character meals. The price seems more in line with the BOG breakfast.
