October 2015 Fort Wilderness Meet and Greet Thread

LOL That is funny about the steps- I think I remember that post, in fact! LOL

We are actually arriving September 29th- we might be the first of the October group to arrive. (hopefully this won't get us kicked out of the group)

So if a live trip report isn't started by then, I'll start one when we get there, and I'll put a note in here so everyone knows.

I know many of us have plans such as myself (DW maximizes our Disney time since we only have a short amount of time for our trips.) Others are less planning like as they may not have ADRs, FP+, parties, or other commitments. They also may come to the fort more often than others.

Right now, I will keep this as an October thread but who knows it might change to just a M&G thread for others to use while some may not be there. Well everyone, enjoy!

Hi Uruguayo21! How cool! You are arriving the same day we are!! And we are keeping our fingers crossed for the 1400 loop- what made you request that that loop, just out of curiousity? Are you driving down? We'll also have our sign out, if I can figure out how to transport it on the plane

Not too sure how that's going to work- maybe I'll look into sending it ups to the fort and have it waiting- wonder if that's possible?.....

We didn't request the 1400 loop that is just what they gave us. We usually ask for the 1800 or 1900 loop but they didn't have anything available there. I'm not even sure exactly where the 1400 loop is but I'm sure we will love it! Hope you get your sign down with you I would try to mail it to the fort I think I have heard of people sending things there for them to pick up. Please stop in and say hello! We look forward to meeting you guys!!

Who does your family include? Any kids? The first time we were put in 1400 it was just random- we'd asked for a spot close to a bus stop (for my mom to have less walking) and close to the pool. We ended up being just across a little grassy area from where the movie and campfire is every night. Our kids were 8 and 11 at the time, and it was so perfect because while we were doing stuff around the motorhome, they could just walk right over to the campfire and watch the movie- they didn't have to wait for us. And close enough to walk to the pool if we wanted to. I loved it there.

How do you know already which site you have? Did they tell you when you made the reservation? We requested our sites in the 1400 loop, but of course they told me they will do all they can but there's no guarantee- it depends on which sites are open when we check in....

Maybe I will see if I can find a box- we had 2 signs- one larger green one, and then a smaller laminated paper one. I'd rather bring the wood one

We'll definitely be looking for signs to find everyone while we are there! I just signed up on the September thread too

I'm pretty excited to meet some people and start putting faces to names...

I have updated the original post of a list disboarders heading to the fort in the October time frame. Serenitygr complied this list and asked if I could added to the original thread. WE have many people coming in for October. Pretty cool.

We will be arriving late, but I just can't wait! Haven't stayed at the Fort in YEARS! Wish I had a camper, though. As this was a "last-minute" ressie, I was unable to rent a camper from Florida Camper Rental. Maybe next time.

Hi y'all! It has been so long since I have been here on the Dis but I am so happy to see names I recognize! I was told about the meet thread on another group so I am happy to be back adding my info. Got the email that my MBs shipped today, so the countdown is really on! :yay:

Thanks so much Lehuaann!! She was a surprise but I wouldn't trade her for anything!

I'm sorry you won't be there for HS days. I know we are getting to the last years of our HS days, too. My homeschooler is planning on Dual Enrollment at a local college next year, so this may be our last. I don't want to think about that yet! This is our fifth year of HS days, I am not ready to end it. lol
