Ive been seeing some rumors that characters are showing up at Disney resorts now. Is this true? Can anyone confirm? If so which resorts?

I think I had heard in the past, maybe at Christmas......or even when they had to shut the parks for a hurricane (or TS) they have done it

Several years ago, we were staying at Wilderness Lodge and Mickey and Minnie were in the lobby. Kids were lined up to see them. I stood and watched from one of the upper floors because the kids were so cute and excited. One little girl was dressed up just like Minnie. She was the last in line and it was obvious that the characters were needing to leave, Mickey had already left. I was so afraid that this little girl wouldn't get to meet Minnie, I would have cried myself if she hadn't made it, but she did.

We saw a whole bunch of characters at Riverside in the marina area around 11:30am yesterday. They included Mickey and Pluto, and at least five others.

Yes I also saw on instagram that a whole bunch of characters were at Riverside yesterday at the marina! I also have read that sometimes when it rains, they have a few in the resort lobbies- I have seen pics of this also at Riverside. I just love that resort!

We met Jack Skellington & Sally in the lobby at AOA when we arrived on 8/20, and saw them greeting there a few other days throughout our stay. We asked the concierge about it and she said they were "getting ready" for Halloween, and staff at AOA didn't even find out until the morning of that they would be there that day. My pictures aren't very good because we'd just gotten off the plane & DD2 wouldn't stand still (although she did go up and talk to them!) but it was a really cool surprise to start off our trip.

Back in October, we were greeted by Rafiki in the Lobby at Kidani! Made a great setting for the picture! If only I had looked half-as-good as Rafiki did... lol

3 out of our last 5 trips we've seen characters at CBR. Always such a great surprise. I love that there is no "schedule" for this. Reminds me of the old days when you would see more characters just walking around the parks.

Oh, that explains the Halloween back drop that was there for a few days in the lobby.

I have never seen surprise characters in resort lobbies. Now I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for them next time and hope I'm lucky!

Apparently there were a bunch of characters at Riverside yesterday.

Saw Mickey, Brer Bear and the Fox from Pinocchio (I think it was a fox -can't remember the name) at Riverside last week when we were over there for lunch. Pretty neat. I've never seen this before.

You can see Chip and Dale at the Fort Wilderness Campground every night. It is called the Chip and Dale's Campfire Sing-a-Long. They come out and play games with the kids and go around and meet and greet everybody. Cowboy Anthony was there the night we went. He put on a fun show that included Chip and Dale.

I have never seen the characters at the resorts. We will be at POR next month. I wonder if they have the character visits listed on their activity sheet.

As someone above said, it was mentioned somewhere that during raining days, POR was trying out having characters in the lobby. Not sure if they are continuing this. It is cool as dansdad said to have no clue if this is going to happen. Brings back the magic. Everything is so organized and lines everywhere, its nice to add a little chance into things. I will always remember my first meeting with Tigger, in the back at the UK. Not too many people there, just us and randomly Tigger. :)
