I had to go back a couple of pages to find this - is the merch really that crazy that people have to line up 4 hours before the expo opens?! :eek:

For some things, yes. Stuff does sell out and people are willing to wait to get a better shot at what they want - particularly the challenge mrech and any wine glasses if they offer them. By the time the Expo opens, the merch queue is usually well over an hour long just to get in to the official store. I wish I still had the photos from Star Wars and Tink of what it looked like up in the Ballroom where they were holding us. But it's all very organized, at least compared to how it used to be.

For me, it's just become tradition for me to get there when they open the merch queue. I like to see what adjustments and changes they have made to day 1 with each passing race. I actually have a lot of fun with it and have met some great people while waiting.

OMG - I'm getting so excited for this race which will be my first half marathon! :yay:

I did the TOT 10 Miler last year and went to the Expo held at the ESPN WWOS but this will be my first Expo out in DL. What do I need to know?

I will be there on Thursday morning at opening (just depends on how far back in line).

I pre-ordered the race pins for my races and the D&B wristlet so I get them at the packet pick-up. I will have a Annual Pass so that would get me a discount so I believe that I can return my pre-ordered D&B bag and then re-purchase it to get the discount. Is this correct?

In WDW, we were instructed to go pick-up our race packets first before we could go shop. Is it that way in DL? If I want to exchange my purse that probably would be best but will that set me back in the queue majorly for the shopping? As this is my first half, I'd like to get the I Did It shirt.

Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

Yes, you will be able to return them so you can purchase with your discount, I just don't know if you can do it all at once or if they have you pick it up, return them, get in line to buy them again. My understanding is that what is returned is taken upstairs to the actual expo store to be sold, so you might have to be in the mercy queue to get the pins again. But the Dooney's are all handled downstairs where you will be picking up your pre-purchased items. But they might let you return and purchase them right there on the spot. Let us know how it works out so everyone will know for the future.

I like getting my discounts without the hassle so I stopped pre-purchasing items. But it is nice to know you're guaranteed to have them!

As for what order to do things, yes, if you go the route of the Dooney's first the official mercy queue is going to be LOOOONG by the time you make it up there. Since you're guaranteed a Dooney if I were you I would do the merch queue first. Pick up a new set of pins with your discount and anything else you're interested in buying, especially if it's something you are worried might sell out. Then go down to get your Dooney and other items. See if they can process the bag all at once and then just return the pre-purchased pins.

I hope that made any sense, but that is what I would do.
 
FYI - for any of y'all that bought ChEar Squad packages ...

I bought two for my parents in their names - I was told via phone by RunDisney a few months back that they need to be in their names and, like bibs, they have to be present to pick up their ChEar packages.

Well, my Dad has decided not to make the trip so I was stuck with an extra Platinum package and I called RunDisney again today in hopes they might be able to change the name to my friend's daughter so she can watch in the premium areas with my mom.

I guess they changed up the rules this year, because I was told that either the payer (name on the credit card) OR the registrant could pick up ChEar packages! So, yay!
 
Up date on my calf problem. I had an ultrasound this morning i have a tear in the soleus. They did an ozone injection today , don't want me to run till Sunday ,a little easy run to see how it feels. If still painful on Monday they will do some kind of blood platelet therapy to help repair muscle fibers. I told them it is not an option, I'm going, I will run even if I'm hopping. Oh well rest ,ice,heat, and the lazy boy. It doesn't rain but it pours in more than one way or an other. Oh well onward and upward. Have cancelled all my classes, TRX, Spin, Strength. HUMMM! Positive Healing!
But great to see the merchandise for Disney today! Love Dumbo! Need that jacket!

Yep, I wish they had sold them last year when I actually did the 10k lol! I so would have bought one. I was so disappointed that nearly all the merchandise seemed to be half marathon, DDD or C2C specific.

Will definitely be looking at the half marathon 'I did it' shirts this year, but not sure whether I'll get one or not.

Right? I have done the 10k every year since they've had it and they NEVER had 10k merchandise. I would get so angry. I guess I wasn't the only one. And now they have it and I'm only doing the half. LOL

I'm basically assuming that all this stuff that I would want will be sold out in the size I want by the time I get to the expo on Thursday afternoon. I mean, given you can't exit a bathroom without going through a souvenir store how hard is it to meet the demand for race merchandise. Like, seriously.
