Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

This is my first time posting on this thread, but I have been reading it for a couple of months getting ready for our first stay at beach club. We are less than 1 week away checking in on 9/02 for 6 nights, yay! My question is dose anyone know if they sell gallons of distilled water in the gift shop? I know some of the resorts do. My mom needs it for her cpap. If not she can use bottled water, but was hoping to save a little money and buy a gallon. Thanks so much!

@mi*vida*loca. So glad to hear you finally arrived!

@hamilkm :welcome: Not sure about distilled water at BC marketplace. I'll check on Sunday. I have heard you can order from turner drug for $7.50 fee. Check info in post 1 and call them if this is a good option

Weather here at the dark side. it did start to sprinkle so we walked to us. Rode mummy and were seated for dinner at lombards. Poured during dinner with some, but not much lightning and thunder. Cleared by the time we finished. Pleasant evening with even lower crowds. Men in black walk-on. Gringotts 15. Too tired to do anything else. Too bad. Would have been good night to finally see cinematic spectacular.

To all who are there now, and those to be traveling soon, I hope you all get the Disney Magic and have a safe and enjoyable time. Please take pictures and post then here so those of us left behind with trips to come can live the weekend vicariously through you. And PLEASE, no midnight fire drills this year as the group gathers for the DIS meeting this weekend.

2 days to go! I made my 6 y/o a frozen fever dress that I still need to hem and embellish! My 8 y/o, who was to cool to wear a dress wants to know if I can make her something. Thinking I can whip up a quick skirt. Oy!

I think I might upgrade our ponchos (got cheapie dollar ones right now) in case we do get hit with Ericka. Told my hubby if I was going to weather a hurricane, Yacht club seems like a great place to do it.

What a great MOM!!! I myself can't sew a button back on :sad2: We used to do the cheap ones, until our July 2013 trip. I tell you it rained (not afternoon shower type, POURED) each day!!! We gladly bought the better ponchos and used them the entire week!!!

I should stop planning and replanning. I need to stop. I just checked out easywdw after seeing this and am frustrated that it has a different crowd prediction for the first day we are there (planning MK) than is on TP which I usually use. I have 8am BOG reservations so I think it wouldn't be work tinkering with but I think I need some sort of cutoff here on the planning and replanning and second guessing! 19 more sleeps. :laundy:
That's me! I can't leave well enough alone!

Instead of a midnight fire drill it will probably turn into a hurricane party. ;)

I used to sew clothes for our two daughters and I was always sewing something at the last minute. The homemade costumes always look and feel better than the store bought ones. :thumbsup2

We were watching the people walking past the BC during a very windy storm last April and the people wearing the cheap plastic ponchos might as well been wearing dry cleaner bags. The wind was blowing the cheap ponchos all over the place because they weren't heavy enough to hang down. The people were getting soaked. I have umbrellas packed but if it is going to be windy, we won't be able to use them. So I think our first purchase when we get to Disney will be some Disney ponchos.

And I agree that the YC will be a great place to stay if there is a hurricane. I just hope I don't regret my decision to try a new resort this time instead of the BC/YC.

SEE! This is just another reason to use Ninja Mom's GO NEKKED method of dealing with the rain. I'm going to be foot loose, pants loose and shirt loose for my next trip. I ain't worried 'bout no stinkin hurricane! That storm should be worried about ME!

For some reason I get a mental picture of life guards with pool noodles chasing a nekked NM around SAB. :rotfl: :cool2:

So glad we decided to come back from MK about 11:00 this morning. It's thundering & lightning something fierce. One of my DSs is scared of both. Chillin' in the room, sad we leave tomorrow .

And it's finally letting me post pics again, but errors out on my exterior foliage shots which I'll post this week-end. It will let me post the balcony though :badpc:

If we have to use ponchos the Disney ones are the best, that's for sure. But yeah, if it's not windy, umbrellas are much easier. Ponchos are great for a quick storm but if you have to take them off and on for every ride they get old.

For those of you who are interested, I received a phone call back today in response to the lengthy email I sent to WDW Guest Communications on Monday. I spoke to a very nice woman who asked me specific questions related to my family not being informed about the a/c and hot water outage on 8/15. She also brought up the fact that all guests should be treated the same, which I appreciated. For our inconvenience, she is crediting my visa card the cost of one night of our stay, which I thought was very nice. More importantly she said she would be in contact with the YC about CMs informing all guests, especially those checking in, when something goes wrong at the resort. I also, again brought up the cm, Cindy, from the Crews Cup, who went above and beyond on 8/15. She assured me that she thought she would be able to make a note of it in her record, even though I had forgotten to get the city & state she was from. Anyway, glad that Disney made it right with us. In all the years we have been visiting WDW, this is the first time I have ever felt like I had to write a negative letter. So guess that's pretty good :)

Also, thanks to everybody here for listening.

Another busy dark side day. Sunny this morning, dark clouds rolled in around 11 then it rained from noon until a little past 2. That was ok. We were eating at cowfish almost the whole time it rained.p SO GOOD!!!

A woman came over to our table and said "I know you are Dee. I read your trip reports. " I asked her screen name but she doesn't post. I turned beet red and my family thinks I'm weird.
