Those using swagbucks ???

Okay Swaggernauts, convince me that nCrave is worth the trouble. I used it a lot earlier in the month when they had double points, but I just don't see the benefit that some of you are getting? It takes so long to run through the Discovery videos and then I get 2-4 SB, but my laptop is held hostage by the page since I can't navigate away from it.

When I use Watch feature I manually move through the videos, watching about 20 seconds each. Using that method it takes about 4 minutes to earn 3 SB. And I can navigate to other pages (like DIS) if I want.

So sell me on nCrave vs. Watch.
Well, for me it's not one vs. the other. I use both.

I use nCrave when I'm doing other things around the house where I won't be using my laptop for a while. So I get one started when I'm getting ready to do the dishes, or shower and get ready for work in the morning, or do some yardwork, etc. Instead of just leaving the laptop sitting idle, I let it earn me some SBs while I'm busy elsewhere. If I'm leaving home for a quick errand, I start an nCrave before I walk out the door. I've been running the Fitness & Sports nCrave, which is worth 6 SBs each time. Those rounds of 6 SBs add up quickly, all during times when I'm not available to sit down and click my way through the Watch mode.

I do have an iPad also, so I can easily run nCraves on my laptop while doing other things on the internet with the iPad.

I use the Watch feature if I'm just sitting and watching TV, so I have my laptop right there and can just click forward to earn some points that way.

I did discover something about nCrave last night though, that now makes it possible for me to run nCraves AND surf elsewhere on the internet all on my laptop. The browser I usually use on the laptop is Safari, and I have to keep the screen on nCraves while one is running. But last night I used Chrome, and I had nCrave running while I opened another tab on the internet and did other things. The nCrave kept running just fine. That was a nice find!

So that's my story with nCraves and Watch. It's great that both are available for different situations.

My solution is 2 laptops. I do the nCrave on the new one since it streams better (the old one is glitchy that's why we got the new one) and use the old one for other odds and ends I may want to do. At the same time I have the iPad running the apps. My mini-farm! LOL

I do both while doing other things at the same time. I open SB on firefox and shrink the page to a little over half the size of my screen, get ncrave or a video going then open chrome and shrink the page to fill the other portion of my screen. I'm actually using chrome to DIS and FB right now while I have video's running. I can see when the videos are ready to forward at a glance so I can give the next one a quick click . This way I usually always have videos or ncrave running no matter what else I am doing online.

I'd be interested in how well the Net 10 works for you. I am very tempted to go buy a couple, but I also read an online tutorial that said the cheaper models freeze a lot. Not sure if that was just that one person's experience, or across the board. I'm just getting started with PERK.

I'm not sure. It's the first time I've been rewarded with them although I don't use the SEARCH feature on SB a lot. I did a search and read up on them on the SB blog.

The Net10 Optimus Fuels all five of them have been running pretty damn good...for 9 dollar phones! I have had had lockups..but also with my tablets and my Samsung Galaxy. I usually just back out and click on a video and away they go, but I'm Very impressed with the Optimus Excels!

Re: nCrave--
Is anyone else getting to the end of the videos on a page and then in the upper left corner, in green text it says, "Activity Completed" BUT... in the upper right corner of the same page there is an orange exclamation point and a message that says "This activity was not fully completed"

How can it be both completed and not completed????

I've saved screenshots of these pages and submitted a ticket regarding the lack of credit. I'll let you know what the reply is.
Rather pointless having my laptop running and using power for 0 credits at the end.
I've had this happen occasionally too. This morning I submitted a ticket about it when it happened again.

Well this freaked me out a bit today. I was running EntertaiNow on an old phone of my DD that doesn't have cell service anymore and it lit up like a phone call was coming in from Carmeron Boyce (Carlos). I asked my DD if that was someone she knew, but it turned out to be an ad for the descendents, and happened several more times. Weird!

BIG QUESTION: I have been reading online from some tax experts that you have to report everything you earn, regardless of the amount, on your taxes or you could be hit for tax evasion; has everyone here been reporting it? How has that affected your tax returns?

Yes, you are supposed to report it as income, and if you earn over $600 the company is supposed to get your SSN and report the earnings on an official IRS form. It would be treated as ordinary income on your tax return. I don't earn that much so have never gotten the form, I have read on other forums that Swagbucks has not sent them out in the past, but that could always change.

From the IRS -

While most people are aware they must include wages, salaries, interest, dividends, tips and commissions as income on their tax returns, many don’t realize that they must also report most other income, such as:

  • cash earned from side jobs,
  • barter exchanges of goods or services,
  • awards, prizes, contest winnings and
  • gambling proceeds.
Fees received for babysitting, housecleaning and lawn cutting are all examples of taxable income, even if each client paid less than $600 for the year.

I guess a better question would be: since it would fall under the same area as 1099 would it add the amount received directly on to taxes? For example, if I owed nothing on my normal taxes, but received $365 in swagbuck giftcards, would the amount I now owe for taxes be $365?

Same thing keeps happening to me too with EntertaiNow!

On the new Swagbucks page, it says that you can earn up to 500 SB a day for watching unique videos. Really?????

I don't know if it's as great as all that. My "watch" hasn't switched over to the new playlist system, but others seem pretty unhappy. If their comments are true, you have to watch the whole video and you get 1SB for 4 or 5 videos (old system was 3SB for 10 videos).

I haven't been watching the whole video, and it credited after first few seconds. BUT it does stink to only get 1 SB for every 4.

Yeah, mine switched over just as I hit my goal for today. I'm going to give it a try but 1 SB for 4 videos is not good. I just cashed out the majority of my SB for a gift card, so I'm gonna see. I may just call it quits now, I'm 63 days away from my trip with it paid for and anything else was gonna be gravy.

I had an unusual earning today: I did a search and was rewarded 14 SB with a Collector's Bill. The bill is marked St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland. It seems they did Collector's Bills for certain holidays and if you collected four of them you got an extra 14 SB bonus. I'm confused why I got a St. Patrick's :shamrock: one in July, but I'm not complaining.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but it wasn't holidays, it was actually international travel locations. Saint Patricks Cathedral is a very famous Catholic Church. Not as weird as it might have seemed at first :)

Do you guys find that many SB Shopping purchases DON'T post?
I shopped and purchased thru SB (and made SURE to go thru the link and that the "activated" message showed at the top of the page) at Tracfone, Lowes, Home Depot, ebay and PetSmart, in that order. ONLY ebay and Petsmart, the most recent have posted as "purchases" and the SB are pending. What's up with that? What do you do? Contact SB about it?
Yes, I do find that my purchases don't post. They almost never do, so I've stopped trying. I also never get a reply from their customer service when I ask about the sb not posting, unless of course, I ask too early. Then they answer.o_O

I missed that one! That's actually a cute advertisement. I remember him as a toddler on some tv show I can't recall. He was such an adorable little tot!
