Any good tips for places to let the baby get out of our arms or the stroller to let them crawl around? Hopefully DD will be walking by 13 months when we go, but if not, i can't imagine she will be happy without crawl time. What worked for you?

Do you mean in the parks? It's so crowded I wouldn't be comfortable with that at all. We won't even let our walking 2 year walk around the parks except when we're standing in line

Hmm. Which resort are you staying at? I think most if not all have some sort of play ground. As for areas in the parks that you can spend a little time to let the little roam (somewhat) free, see below. Most of these places I mention because they're either carpeted, or they tend to have open spaces where you can easily watch a kid play for a few minutes.:
MK: Casey Jr. Splash zone, waiting for Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Tom Sawyer Island, on the Liberty Belle, in the waiting area of Philharmagic, the waiting area of Dumbo (inside), in line for Winnie the Pooh, and of course the Baby Center. There used to be a little play area by the bathrooms in Frontierland between Splash and BTMRR, but I'm not sure its still there.

Epcot: Character Spot has lots of carpeting and wider spaces. Same with Innoventions, if it's open. Land pavilion has some space inside for littles to move on carpet. The Seas and especially Turtle Talk has spaces for little kids to roam. I'm drawing a blank on places around the World Showcase, but I'm sure there are places there.

Studios:Honey I Shrunk the Kids if you're feeling bold. I don't feel comfortable letting my 3 year old run around in there, but I'm sure it's safe for event little ones. Preshow area/dancing in Disney Junior Live on Stage. I'm drawing a blank on more options here too.

AK: The boneyard, conservation station/Rafiki's Planet Watch, preshow to It's Tough to Be a Bug. I'm sure there are more, but we haven't gone to AK with littles much, so I don't have much experience.

I hope that helps!

yes i was meaning in and out of the parks. we are planning on 1/2 days at the parks, but even that amount of time i feel bad if she is couped up in our arms or the stroller.

that was super helpful, thank you.. i was thinking outside rides, but you are right about those que areas. i wish they would add more of these play areas. the splash casey jr area would be great for my dd4 but i wouldn't want the baby crawling in water. we are staying at Grand Floridian, and the latter half at AoA.

Oh! I love the Grand Floridian!

But yes, I also wish the parks had more play areas for crawlers or just walkers. I haven't been through the new hub area, but maybe with a blanket that would offer a good place to crawl?

I cannot recommend the Boneyard at Ak enough - b/c that is where my son started walking on his own!

We took him to Disney about two weeks after he turned one, and we stopped at the Boneyard just to let him get some energy out (he could take steps holding someone's hands at that point). It was hot, and there was a little water wall he loved splashing in. Well, I had to go get something out of our bag, which means he needed to come with me. DS was inpatient though, so he just let go and took off - a good 10 feet at least! - to get back to the water wall.

And we've been running after him ever since! Actually, he spent the next hour walking around the Boneyard, and it was great b/c the ground is made of rubbery material. So if your DD is then a new walker, or walking with assistance, it is a great place to let out some energy.

My DD2 (at the time) loved playing in the Boneyard, i dont think they had a 'water wall,' or if they did, we missed it. I'm looking forward to seeing that. How lucky you are to be able to say your DS took his first steps at Disney!!!

Bring socks for the baby too in case that is an alternative. I'm trying to remember when he was just walking and mostly crawling we used socks a lot of time. And then we used those soft soled shoes otherwise.

Re crawling - there are patches of grass at each park. Have the baby crawl there.

We brought babyganics foaming hand sanitizer to use ( we still do) but when he was in the crawling stage

The exit area of Test Track is another one. It's carpeted and has a big open space around the car displays (or at least it did last year).

Definitely bring some shoes or at least socks to protect her feet if she's walking a little/with assistance. I'd imagine the ground gets very hot in the Florida sun.

I just wanted to mention that the sandy beach area at GF is great for a crawling baby.

So when I first took our DD, she was 12 months and actually took her first steps walking to Chip n' Dale at the Character Spot at Epcot! Pretty cool, right?

Anyway, there are some large grassy spaces in front of main street / Casey's at Magic Kingdom. At night, I think its the fast pass space for wishes. We also had some good down time in the Country Bears waiting space. In the World Showcase, there are movies that have plenty of space for crawling... like the China one. I know Norway did too - thats closed. I think Canada and France too. There is some green space that we enjoyed in the UK too.

Unfortunately, I don't really have anything to add re: HS and AK. Except maybe skip HS if you can.

I remember being worried about the same thing before our trip - at that age - but there was a lot of areas where she could kind of walk or stand holding onto things like a bench. So she never got really fed up with being held or in a stroller.

At night, I think its the fast pass space for wishes. if we use FP+ will we be able to bring in our stroller? We also had some good down time in the Country Bears waiting space. DD4 loves Ariel and the Disney Junior Show, and i'm excited to show her the play area for Honey I Shrunk the Kids! and we'll go to the Beauty and Beast show, eat at Sci-Fi, that will be exciting for her :)

I think you should be able to bring the stroller on the grassy area. I don't really know but the fence is very low and you could always pull the stroller right up next to it & have complete access.

I always had wipes in my bag so if I needed to clean her off I could.

I hate that Disney Jr is at Hollywood Studios - it's the only reason we visit the park!
