Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before, but the search function has failed me. Is there any chance of a roll-away bed? Or would an air mattress be the way to go?

No, there are no roll-away beds any more. The only option for a fifth person aged 3 or over is Alligator Bayou at Riverside.

If you have four people in the room but want a separate bed for one of them, then bringing your own air mattress would be a good solution. The resort will be able to supply sheets, pillows, etc. for you.

They are single pod cuisnart machines. They do not take kcups.

Stupid question, but I've been googling and can't find an image of what the single pods look like. Are they flat and round, completely of fabric? Or do they have a round surface on top? smaller than the Kcups? I'm trying to bring my own coffee for our trip but I'm not having a lot of luck figuring out which to buy.

And also just wanted to confirm.., all the rooms come with a fridge these days right?

Any room view gurus here? Had a fabulous stay at POFQ last month. Booked Garden View & was in a ground floor room in Bldg #2 right in front of the pool (facing it). I want that view again - however Pool View states 2nd floor facing the pool. So....technically is Garden View 1st floor facing pool? Or do I have a better chance booking Pool View & requesting 1st floor? I prefer 1st floor. There is a difference in price between the 2 room categories, so I thought I'd ask on here!

I posted floorplan layouts of buildings 2 and 5 here a few days ago. Pool View will normally get you floors 2 or 3 only, the similar ground floor rooms are all Garden View.

Thanks to all the replies regarding my pool view room...just as I had suspected...in other words....who knows! LOL. I will add buildings 2 or 5 to my requests....thank you!

Awesome! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Looking for opinions on our arrival day: we usually just check in and relax at the pool until dinner. This year we are eating at Raglan Road and were going to take the boat over....now we have thoughts of going to MK for a 2-3 hours then heading to DD via bus.
Which is closer to Raglan Road, the bus stop or the water taxi stop (since it is arrival day, that might sway our plans!)?

Thank you very much,
Margaret

p.s. - this is for an Aug trip.

I don't know the answer to your original question, but do you realize there is no bus from MK to DTD? You would need to bus from MK back to POFQ and since you're there it would make more sense to take the boat over.

No I did not realize that! Last year I thought they were testing out busses from the parks to DD......
Thanks

Just an update....I called and got the back office for POFQ...added buildings 2 and 5 to my "requests". At first, she said I didn't need to do that because I had pool view, but I insisted...during my negotiation :chat: I mentioned the possibility of being downgraded or being put in a river view in outer buildings...to which she replied, "oh we never DOWNGRADE" :crazy2: Ok I said, well call me paranoid and please put the request on my reservation and she did. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could walk over to the Contemporary and take a bus, but I've never had good luck with bus transportation to DTD. Honestly, we wouldn't even be going to DTD if we weren't staying at a resort with boat transportation.

Looking for Laundry Room answers. Are the washers and dryers credit card/debit card only or still the older type that take change?

thank you so much

I can do online check in tomorrow. We have two rooms and paid for river view room. Our TA requested connecting rooms but did not specify a building. I would prefer building 2 or 5, can I put that in my online check in as a request? Then again a fax a few days before? Is that how I do it?

You can't add any requests during Online Checkin (well, nothing useful anyway). Requests should be noted manually on your account in advance (get your TA to update the request, or call the Disney Reservations Center directly). You can also fax the resort about 3-5 days before you arrive, to make sure the message has gone through. See http://www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php.

I just booked my February trip with my BF, we will be staying here from 2/1-2/5 and I can't be any more excited about it. My BF has never stayed at POFQ (I have stayed many times in the past) and I can't wait to show her all of the wonderful things the resort has to offer. When her family goes to WDW, they usually stay at BCV so it will be interesting to see what her take on a Moderate resort is. We are both huge Disney nuts and even though I have done a girls trip with my kids before, this will be the first time that she leaves her kids (who are adults) and DH home (he likes Disney but is not a nut like her) :goodvibes. I would of brought my girls with us, but my oldest DD starts high school this year so it is much more difficult to take her out, and my 7th Grader, well, she will just have to stay home with her father and sister....I'll make it up to them some other time :thumbsup2.
