Parking question

Can I show my resort reservation on the My Disney Experience for free parking? Our plane lands at 11:50 am and we have a 1:30 ADR at Teppan Edo. We've rented a car and thought about going straight to Epcot and, if possible, would like free parking. We are booked at the Beach Club for our trip. I'm afraid that if we try to check-in before our dining reservation, we won't make it. Is this possible?

What are you going to do if your flight is delayed?
Or luggage lost?
Or traffic is bad?

Making ADRs--or any other rigid (expensive) plans--on your arrival day is very risky, IMO. Maybe you've had more luck than me but personally, I'd say less than half the time do I actually make it to WDW within an hour of my ideal projection.

Something to consider...

I'm already worried for you. I believe you will have less than a 25% chance of making that reservation, even if the plane is on time. I would change the time to later or reschedule for another day.

Even IF the plane lands right on time, that arrival time is based on when the wheels touch down. At that point, the plane taxis in (can be quite a few minutes right there), the jetway is attached, you have to wait to deplane, at least one person in your party will need to use the restrooms (trust me!), and then you need to walk to the shuttle that takes you to luggage (sometimes a wait of several minutes). Assuming that you do not have checked luggage (if you do, there's NO WAY to make that reservation), even if you have a frequent rental program with the car rental, you will need to cross the street and go up the escalator where you will check in with the car rental agency, walk to your car, maneuver out of the garage, and finally hit the highway for your 25-45 minute trip. To top it off, I would say that Teppan Edo is just about the furthest of any restaurant in relation to the front entrance of Epcot (which you have reached only after waiting for the parking shuttle or, in all probability, a lenghty walk (or run at that point!). I would say that you would have a 15 minute walk if you power walk or jog from the turnstiles.

I changed my mind - you have less than a 10% chance of making it. Change those plans!

I agree, don't think you will make it. As long as you are ok with paying the no show fee of $10 pp I guess it's ok. Planes are late often, it takes forever to get into a gate some days, often 20-30 minutes to get your luggage. Another 30 minutes to drive to your resort, which depends on if you booked with a company that you can bypass the counter. And lastly it would be easier to park at BC and walk to Epcot WS, which would be about another 30 minutes. And this depends if your plane is on time. Our last 3 flight this year were all late. SW was 3 hours late, frontier was 2 hours late and united was only 1 hour late. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

While I agree with those who don't think you will make the ADR- I think you would be better off going to Beach Club and parking and just walking for there- it will be quicker than parking in the Epcot lot and walking from it. You can park and then check in after your ADR, you don't have to check in immediately upon arrival at the resort.

Thanks for the replies! Using only carry on luggage gets us out of the airport more quickly. Then I have the bypass Alamo's bypass the counter option so we can go straight to the garage for our rental car. That helps too. I've rescheduled the ADR for 2:30. I'll do as n2mm and rlovew have suggested and go to BC. I think I'll have the car valet parked and leave the luggage with bell services. We can then walk to Epcot, and get our bags later.
If the ADR gods are not on our side and we cannot make the reservation, I'm fine with paying the penalty. :)

I doubt you will make the reservation time.

I would cancel that ADR and park at BCV and walk and wing it for the restaurant. If they don't seat you at 1:30 - 2:30 someone will. Or there are other options close by for fast food. You didn't say when but your sig says during Food and Wine. You can certainly find something interesting to nibble on!

I make almost no adr's for food and wine unless someone really wants a particular spot.

Thanks, Judique. The plan is to grab food at F & W if we don't make the reservation!

I recognize it's your money but if you have an acceptable back up (F&W booths) why not just skip the reservation and then try a walk up when you arrive? Or else try to reserve once you actually arrive and are with your car and on your way? Late lunches/early dinners/late dinners are often available. Just a suggestion to potentially save a few dollars if your travel does get delayed and in order to not feel rushed once you arrive.

Good idea, KAT.

I was gonna say the same thing. Great plan.

With the reschedule I do think you will make it if the plane is on time- especially with this plan.
