A needed change at Disneyland!

According to Tom Staggs, MDE is not coming to DLR. I agree with a previous poster. I appreciate the simplicity of DLR. Thanks to FP+ we will not be returning to WDW,

The best part of Disneyland is it's simplicity, especially as compared to WDW. It's not broke...stop trying to fix it.

They're not trying to fix anything, they're trying to get more cash out of each guest. With that said they did work very good on our last visit there. There was one time a ride broke down before we even arrived in the que and a text told us to go get a free fast pass and 3 different rides that were close. That was pretty cool.

I think it would be nice to have for getting in and out of both parks. and using it for the same fast past system they have now! I would enjoy just swiping my had for stuff and I also think it would improve getting into the parks them selves. I also am constantly making sure that I have my plastic pouch I seem to go through one like every trip or every other.

I keep looking for the dislike button........

The last freaking thing in the world the DLR needs is Magic Bands, FP+ and more ADRs. WDW is becoming a pain in the keester and horrible for those who like to park hop since you can't have FP+ in more than one park. What is the point of park hopping if you can't get a FP??

WDW and DLR are vastly different animals. The idiots who are promoting "One Disney" have ZERO idea of what they are doing.

I don't think the Magic Bands are needed in DL, I like how simple it is. WDW can be complicated, and I enjoyed the Magic Bands there but I feel like it makes more sense there compared to DL. Leave it as it is.

This thread had a pretty lengthy discussion about Magic Bands (and FP+). In terms of whether DLR needs MB, depends a lot (to me) whether you're talking about just Magic Bands or if you mean the entire MB/FP+/MDE system. I don't mind the Magic Bands themselves, but I don't really want to see FP+ come to DLR.

AMEN. Magic bands - ok. FP+ sucks. That's why I'm not going back to DW in the foreseeable future. Planning which parks and rides and certain times 2 months in advance sucks! No room for flexibility. God forbid you need to change your schedule on the fly at DW due to unforeseen circumstances. Those who like FP+ have obviously never had to change their plans based on sick family members, or weather conditions that affect days you have planned at the water parks. Last time we were there we had to go to Typhoon Lagoon when it was 60 degrees, cuz otherwise we would have lost our TSM, or Soarin' FP+ on our planned days. Yuck!

The passholders would not have it! DL is California's theme park and the passholders that live there are NOT going to schedule their FPs. They drop in for an afternoon if they feel like ride what they want and they won't schedule that 6 months in advance. It would be a huge mistake for DL to implement Magic Bands.

sometimes I think DL gets a little behind the times compared to WDW, I wish they would install the magic bands at DL it would make things a lot easier in my opinion? lets hear what you think? if you have been to both parks since they installed the Magic band system.

Disney officials have specifically said magicbands will not be coming to dlr due to infrastructure concerns.

FWIW, I don't mind the bands themselves, but I seriously hope fp+ doesn't come to dlr.

Who are the idiots?

i LOVE magic bands at wdw but for DL? absolutely not. a vast majority of the guests at disneyland are not staying on property. it was an expensive upgrade for wdw and a pain to implement but it made sense because of the number of people who stay on property and how long people stay.

I love the simplicity of DL. We go there often. No planning meals 6 months out, or rides 1-2 months out. We were just there last weekend and it was great to just do what we felt like on the fly. I haven't used the MB or FP+ yet so I guess I can't really compare, (first time will be in November) but I really like the legacy FP. DL is so much smaller, I'm not sure the FP+ and ADR system would work well there. Just my opinion, though.
