sometimes I think DL gets a little behind the times compared to WDW, I wish they would install the magic bands at DL it would make things a lot easier in my opinion? lets hear what you think? if you have been to both parks since they installed the Magic band system.

I think "NO!" MBs are ridiculous IMO. Plastic bangles for grownups. Ugh.

I mean, I have them and sometimes wear them at WDW. But I feel foolish and like a sheep when doing it. There was nothing whatsoever wrong with keycards or just ticket cards.

This thread had a pretty lengthy discussion about Magic Bands (and FP+). In terms of whether DLR needs MB, depends a lot (to me) whether you're talking about just Magic Bands or if you mean the entire MB/FP+/MDE system. I don't mind the Magic Bands themselves, but I don't really want to see FP+ come to DLR.

I do NOT want to make a reservation 6 months out, to ride RSR!!! No Way!
This gets to the point about whether the OP was talking about just the Magic Band system or if they were talking about Magic Bands and FP+. The two systems are different, so it would be (theoretically) possible to bring MB to DLR, but not FP+ (and vice-a-versa). Making FP reservations ahead of time would be the FP+ system.

I didn't mind the MB's on our December trip last year to WDW, but I greatly disliked FP+.

WDW - $2 billion for My Magic+ (which includes MBs)
DLR - $1.2 billion for CarsLand and DCA upgrades 2008-2012

Uhh, I will take #2.

:wizard:

Lemmings are what come to my mind every time. Sheep or tagged cattle are good too. :rolleyes1

I don't love the idea of FP+ but I thought magicbands looked really cool. I think they function better at WDW because they have more uses for most guests (most people stay onsite at WDW, most people stay offsite at DL so use as a room key wouldn't be so big of a draw) but overall the ideas are neat. Using them instead of paper tickets for FP and park entry would be cool because you never have to worry about losing them. I found myself grabbing for my lanyard a lot (we put our passes and FPs in a plastic pouch attached) and worrying about it flying off on rides, getting snagged, wet, or losing it.

It would be nice to be able to just use the band like you do your ticket when you insert it for a fastpass, not with the book-ahead thing.

Magic bands, yes. FP+, no. The bands would be useful for many things, but with the laid back nature of DL compared to WDW, the FP+ system would be more trouble than it's worth given that a large population of park-goers are locals visiting on a whim. I hate the idea of having to plan everything I want to do 6 months in advance when I only figured out I want to go there 6 hours in advance.

I wouldn't wear one even if it came to DL. I can't stand anything on my wrist.

I think it would be nice to have for getting in and out of both parks. and using it for the same fast past system they have now! I would enjoy just swiping my had for stuff and I also think it would improve getting into the parks them selves. I also am constantly making sure that I have my plastic pouch I seem to go through one like every trip or every other.

A NEEDED change at DLR? Why? The latest thing to come out may seem sexy to some- a must have just because it's new. But the novelty wears off fast. I hated wearing that thing. How many times have you snagged your ticket on something? How many times has your ticket left you hot and sweaty underneath it? How many times have you had to twist and contort your wrist using your ticket for park entry or FPs? How many times has your ticket experienced a glitch requiring you to stop everything and go to GR to attempt to get it fixed. No thank you very much. My MBs went straight into the trash as soon as we left WDW on our last trip.

Disneyland is in desperate need of a new entry system at the park entrances. The whole system needs an overhaul. There's nothing worse than being a passholder, and being stuck behind a group of people with paper tickets. Scanning the paper, printing a new ticket, having each guest sign the new tickets, then taking each guest's picture. It's a horrible system, and Disney should be embarrassed by it.

I wouldn't mind seeing Magic Bands make their way to DLR, and I think FP+ would work here too. There would need to be some major modifications to the program. I think it would be nice if the bands could be linked to a credit card for AP holders (like for WDW resort guests) so we could charge our purchases using our MBs. The whole system would have to be tailored to AP holders for it to work at DLR.

As for the turnstile nightmare, MBs could eliminate some of the problems. I think Disney should install automated kiosks near the entrances to both parks for people to scan their paper tickets and receive their plastic ones. This would eliminate the delays at the turnstiles and make things much more efficient.

I have used both. FP plus no, bands, yes! So much easier then a card that can be lost.

I also do not think DL needs them, even though I like the bracelets...I like that I can go to the pool with my magic band on my wrist and not worrying about a hotel room key...just sayin...they are waterproof.

the other thing I sort of struggle with is the money! spending the money to do a dl version of magic bands would cost money! but Disney does basically own half of Hollywood its not like they could not do it. On the other hand I would not mind seeing tomorrow land be updated with some new stuff I always love the light and atmosphere at night.

Please no Magic Bands at DL. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I like being able to print out my tickets at home
