HS announcements to be made at D23

thank you for posting this. more and more I wish I was attending D23 this year.

Hollywood Studios is going to be unrecognisable, and for me that's a good thing. Glad they are doing this with a solid budget behind it too, this is going to be amazing. Just hopefully before 2050 ;)

I think a little of this is suspect... He didn't even mention the Pixar Place' 'Toy Story Land' and that is pretty much confirmed to my understanding.

Even though I don't know if I would get too excited over that, but I'm sure my son will in a few years.

The linked article talks about 3 new attractions in Pixar Place in addition to the TSMM expansion.

This article supports even more the idea that they should close the park and get all of this done at one time. Otherwise, trips to DHS for the next 7 years will be little more than opportunities to ride the 3 attractions that will survive plus probably 2 or 3 others that remain open or are newly built. All while dodging construction walls. Is that really worth the monetary value of a full day's admission on one's 5 day pass?

No mention of dining changes. I wonder if 50's and or SciFi will survive the purge? And I think it is a mistake to not have a Muppets attraction. The movies are popular and a new TV show is ready to debut.

Very interesting read, I know this is all rumored right now, but there are things in the article that I would love to see happen, i.e. the Indiana Jones Ride (my DH and kids loved that ride at DLR) and a couple new attractions for Pixar Place and the supposed Star Wars land. However, I would be really bummed if they got rid of some of the classics such as Muppets 3D...I know this attraction is due for a major overhaul, but I agree with JimmyV, why get rid of something that is becoming more and more popular with people? It really doesn't make that much sense to me since they have 2 newer movies, an ABC t.v. show coming, and the Muppets are on Disney Jr. Another thing that I would be really bummed to see go (even though it was never mentioned in the article but JimmyV got me thinking about it) is SciFi...that is our favorite TS restaurant in DHS, my whole family would hate to see it leave. DHS is one of my family's favorite parks and we usually visit twice in a trip, however I too can see this possibly becoming a half day park for us, just until all the dust has settled.

Knowing how easily we can and do repeatedly ride TSMM and a coaster very similar to RnR at DLR, we would most likely skip DHS on any trip for the near future. With every attraction that closes there, the lines at the remaining attractions just get longer and longer.

Very true. I can only imagine what the lines at the Big Three attractions will be like when little else is open.

So they are going to close down three more attractions and open six new ones? Even when this is finished there will be less attractions than there were a few years ago. I am all in favor of a Star Wars and Cars land but if every ride is going to be a headliner with an hour or more wait then this is going to turn into Six Flags.

Interesting read. I'm anxious to here what is announced at D23 and what from that article is true and what isn't.

-I'm all for the muppets show closing and putting something else there. The muppets are outdated and their popularity has passed.
-I'll believe the Indiana Jones show is closing when I see it. I'd hate to see the stunt show leave, but I'd also love to see the Indiana Jones ride come to HS
-The article mentioned Star Tours will be leaving in place of other Star Wars rides. I don't see that happening.
-If true I'm very interested in hearing what show will replace Illuminations
-and Figment leaving? I'd be disappointed in that since it's my girlfriends favorite. I'd however like to see Captain EO go and be replaced with something before they got rid of Figment

I'll be really curious to see how much additional capacity these new attractions will provide, as that is key. By the time this is all done, WDW attendance will likely be ..... what ....... 20 or 25% higher than it is now?

It really would be a shame to see one Indy attraction have to close to make way for the other. Head to head, I'll take the ride any day though. It will be a great addition to WDW. But as with everything else...... the mouse gives with one paw while taking away with another.

The article does not say that Star Tours will be leaving. It says that there will be 4 Star Wars attractions, including Star Tours and JTA.

I agree they should shut down the park and do all the construction at once or maybe half at a time and not charge for entry into the park. They do take forever to build anything.

The fact that there were two Muppets movies released in 2011 and 2014 (both to good reviews) and there is a new TV show set to debut would suggest just the opposite. And Sesame Street is still going strong and always will as long as people keep having children. Sometimes we have to stop thinking as adults and remember that families with young children go to WDW. It's great to add rides for tweens, teens and adults. But those should be in addition to stuff for younger kids, not instead of. With Muppets, Little Mermaid and Playhouse headed for demolition, will SW and Indy expansions fill that need? Or will the Pixar expansion be all there is?

Am crossing my fingers that they won't shutter more stuff ahead of my September trip. I'm especially hoping that Indy stays up at least that long.

I don't know, most everybody calls DHS a half day park now anyway. Usually its the big 3, a couple shows and Fantasmic-maybe TGMR. Not much different IMO. Sounds like worth the wait/construction. Wouldn't recommend a full day admission today anyway. But a hopper to it, or even a day on a 5 to 10 day pass or AP would still make sense IMO.

I would move this thread to the rumors sub forum

I read that article yesterday and much seems plausible, but I am not getting my hopes up for this level of info

I think this should go to the news and rumors sub-forum as well. The only thing being confirmed by sources other than the one posted is the budget, Pixar Expansion and Star Wars presence. However, that's still something pretty cool.
