PhotoPass+. Is it worth it?

No you don't need to give your trip dates. You need to order with 2 or more weeks before your trip so they can send you the voucher. You take the voucher to the place in the parks (it's in the directions they send you with the voucher) and they give you the PP+ card which activates it. I think you have 30 days (might be more but I'm not sure) to order your prints from the day its activated.
What's confusing is that no where has it been clear how long the card is good for. Is it 14 days from activation? How many days can I use the PP+ in the parks, at the character dining and rides? And can I stick on regular photopass pictures that were taken outside of that 14 day window?

I just looked at my voucher and it is good for 14 days from the day I activate it. Whether or not you can add other PP cards later I'm not sure. I would call Disney and ask them.

Thanks :) The website with its "14 days prior to the date on the card" was confusing me. I wasn't sure how they were figuring this magic "date". haha

The lanyard pass they give you will have the photopass+ expiration punched in with a hole punch, which is 14 days after you redeem the voucher for the PP+ lanyard. I assume the CMs look at that to see if it is still valid when you hand it over for ride photos, but I wonder if that is hardwired into the pass or up to the CM.

You will later need to claim that photopass+ on a photopass.com account (no later than 30 days from first photo), and those photos will expire on the site in 30 days (not sure if from date taken or date claimed). Each photo will show an expiration date in your account, and you can actually buy a 14 day extension for like $20.

You then use the CD voucher code to order the cd, in which they will include all photos that are currently in your account (including edited with crop/borders, but not photos you uploaded yourself).

I believe that if you have additional photopasses (standard not plus), you can just add them onto your photopass account, and as long as they are all showing not expired yet at the time you order the CD, you may be able to get the photos from all your dates on the CD. The voucher code paper actually tells you to claim any photopass cards you may have prior to ordering.

I think they are referring to 14 days prior to the EXPIRATION date on the card, which is the day you get the fp+ lanyard so theoretically the first day you can have pictures taken.

Ok, here is what I have done. I ordered PP+ and picked up my lanyard on April 3rd. We had photos taken while we're were there ( through the 6th). I waited until May 2nd to claim my photos on the Photopass site (you have 30 days from the date of the first photo to claim), giving the photos the expiration date of June 1st or 2nd, i don't remember which. (You then have 30 days from the claimed date to edit and order your CD.) I then ordered the 15 day extension, giving the photos the expiration date of June 16th.

We took a second trip on May 27th - June 1st (just got back). I used the same PP+ card so that I could wear it around my neck, and also because many of the photographers will take more shots if they know you have PP+. (One took 28 shots at one character visit and another took 30). All of these pictures are claimed in my account the day they are taken, since I am using the same pass number. So, as long as I order my CD prior to June 16th, I will get all of the photos, from both trips, on the CD. All said and done, I will have about 800 photos on the CDs they send me.

If I had taken the second trip a little earlier in the month, I wouldn't have needed the extension.

I hope this helps!

Thank you. (and to mgd too :D ) That was exactly what I needed to know. I'll just make sure I use a new regular photopass card for the first three weeks, and then wait to claim the pics until just before the 30 days so that they'll have similar expiration dates as the PP+ card I'll get for the end of the month. :yay:

I have a question about Photo pass +, sorry I don't mean to hijack the post but do Anna and Elsa have a photo pass photographer? I know some do and some don't. I'm just wondering. Thanks

I am curious if you tried to use your PP+ for ride photos on your 2nd visit? I am assuming yours had the expired date punched in when you used it the second time. Did any CM notice it and say anything?

Yes, Anna and Elsa are in a special room with a nice set and a PP photographer and assistant who can take pics with your camera. And the PP photographer will take pics all through the visit with them, often at several angles.

I am glad to hear that, I was on the fence about PP+ and I have had it before but if they have one I have to get it for my daughter.

Thanks!

The month and day were punched out, but the year was not. I may have been able to get them, but knew I wasn't entitled to them, so didn't try.

I did double check that it was ok to still use the card for photopass shots and was told that the card still works, but you don't get the extras after the expiration date.

Actually, the PhotoPass+ is good to use in the Parks for 14 days once it's activated. Then once you log onto the site to review/modify your photos you have 30 days from that logon to "purchase" the photoCD with all your photos. After that you go through the order process for the photoCD, you put in the code that's included in the package you'll receive, and it gives you a credit for the photoCD.

You can purchase it in a Photo shop for $99; but you can order it online 14 or more days before your trip for $69!! This is for the Disneyland Photopass+ :)

Anybody ever purchased it with LESS THAN 14 days to go before vacation? We leave next Thursday (and I'm a gambler by nature) so I'm thinking of risking it and ordering today, hoping it'll arrive before we leave. This is a last-minute trip anyway and this 14 day detail slipped away from me.

Do it ASAP if you're going to. Where are you in the country? We ordered ours Sunday 6/7, Got a shipping notification Monday 6/8, and received in Oklahoma City sometime between this past Thursday 6/11 and Saturday 6/13. Just can't remember exactly what day.

I purchased PP+ with a 5day trip and it was me, DH, DS, DD and DisDad DisStepmom and we wanted group shots, magic shots, ride pics, pics @bbb so I can absorb my DD experience, character meals, and Jedi academy, we ended up with over 500 amazing pics. I always think it's worth it.

Okay! I did it. Crossing my fingers... I'm in Texas. Your story gave me hope. Wish me luck!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, I sure hope you get it. It will contain the voucher you'll need to take with you to exchange for the photopass plus card. You'll need the plus card in order to have them put the ride photos on your "account."
