What does your day look like when you have a party night (MNSSHP or MVMCP)?

We are doing the Halloween party this year for the first time and I keep going back and forth about what to do that morning/day... MK? AK and then a stop at the resort? DTD? A whole day at the resort?! Sigh... Not a bad problem to have but I just want to make a good choice and not wear out my boys (DH & DS-10) in the process.

I would love to know your strategy for party days! Thank you!

Can you save a park ticket? The party lets you in at 4pm. I would sleep in and go to the pool or DTD. Then, "rope drop" the party by getting there around 3:45.

We're doing AK on our party day. But I'm debating switching that with HS... I don't think I will as it would mess up ADR's and I don't want to try to do an early breakfast the day after the party. So we'll rope drop AK with an 8:05 Tusker House, back to the hotel probably around 1 to rest a little and get ready for the party and be at MK around 4.

Big breakfast around 9, late for us.
Park from 10-5.
Hotel to shower and change.
Party 7-12.

This was our day- I do not recommend unless you're really pressed for time.
I was totally exhausted after this.

We slept late then had the last possible breakfast at Chef Mickey (11:20). It was fabulous, the characters walk around until 1 and the more people left the more attention we got. After our meal we went back to resort to get on costumes then to MK at 4 for party.

We've always done MK in the morning until about noon, then back to the resort for rest, back to the party around 5:00. We've always done parties on our first day (and one year we did two--one on our first day, and one on our last), so not going to a park that day just doesn't work for us.

Sleep in and do a resort day! If the weather is nice this year I'm planning on lounging by the pool all day. If it's as cold as it was the last time I did MNSSHP, I stroll around DTD

We're going to sleep in~~ then go for a late breakfast Res @ 11:25AM(Brunch) at Chef Mickey's. Afterwards we plan to resort hop then around 3:30 take the monorail to MNSSHPparty::maleficen So excited:yay:

It depends on how late you want to stay at the party. If you want to stay the entire time, I'd say maybe do a non-park breakfast then relax at the pool / hotel, take a nap if the mood hits then get to the park at 4. You won't need to use one of your park days this way and you still could get 8 hours in at MK.

I agree with those who say sleep late, stay late. We've been to 3 MNSSHP and did this each time. Stayed till the park closed and had a blast!

Here's our Christmas Party day plan:

  • Arrive at Magic Kingdom at Approx. 4PM

  • Christmas Party Ends at 12AM
Bus from Magic Kingdom to Pop Century - Est. 25 Minutes

It's our day to try and sleep in a bit and rest. Low key time at the resort and then we eat at the Grand Floridian and head over to MK and get there about 3:45.

We always move slowly on a Party day. Even the early birds (me) take it easy, have a late breakfast and hang by the pool and relax. We plan an early dinner, at least by 5 PM, and then stay til park close. We also plan a late arrival to whatever park we hit the following day.

I can tell you what I don't recommend doing - I did MNSSHP in 2013. Started the day at the Keys to the Kingdom tour at 9am, spent the whole day at MK and then kicked on through the party that night. All up 14 hours at MK straight!

When it came time to go home I am still to this day not sure if the man sitting next to me on the bus back to the YC was dressed as Fred Flinstone or if I was delusional... :faint:

It sounds like take it slow is the best strategy! I like the idea of grabbing a meal right before and then heading to the party for the whole night. Thank you everyone! (Thank you from me, my son and husband from the future too!)

I always like to relax on our party day, even though sleeping in will not happen lol. I wake up pretty early in Disney and my normal wake up time at home in 4am for work, so I will wake up at 7am that morning (which is sleeping in for me lol). We have a 9:35am ADR for CRT. So we will have breakfast, I plan on heading back to POR a little after breakfast to rest and go to the pool. We have dinner at 4:30pm at BOG before the party, so I want to leave the park with plenty of time to relax at the resort, and get ready for dinner and MVMCP.

For my Halloween Party day, that's our arrival day. Yes, freaking crazy I know, but it's the only day that works for us.

As for our Christmas party day we're going to relax. I think I have a breakfast for the morning, then probably if we want to hit up a park to see something we missed, we may, we may not. Probably pack and sleep.

We've done both parties in the last few visits, we saved a park day admission both times to extend our park days, our 6 day hopper became 7 park days for the reduced cost of the party ticket. :)
We arrived at the MK by 3:30ish, got our wristbands and were in the park by 4pm. We stayed til the very end of the party making it a very full park day.
We planned a resort day with a late 'Ohana breakfast & pool time the day we attended the MNSSHP. We rented a car for the day on our Christmas party day & went to Premium Outlets on Vineland Rd to Christmas shop & have a late lunch at Panera Bread. Both ended up being awesome days... ;)
