Adding some luxury this year

Any suggestions for making a once in a lifetime trip? Instead of our usual moderately priced DW vacation, we are really going for it this year. So far we have booked AKL CL, vip touring for a couple of days, wishes dessert party and a cabana at TL. We got all of the ADRs we were after including a dad/daughter breakfast at CRT. Kids are 12, 13, 15 and 17.

I've done the Illuminations cruise before and I loved it. You could also charter the yacht from the Grand Floridian during Wishes and have dinner served there.

We also had a blast on the Wild Africa Trek so I would recommend that as well.

Be wary though, I planned a similar trip for my honeymoon and our "once in a lifetime trip" has become a yearly trip :)

Lol! That's exactly what my husband warned me about when I started planning. Our family only has a touch of Disney fever so I am going to try and control myself if/when we go again.

You could do a horse & buggy ride. This is available at the Port Orleans Riverside resort. I think it is also at one of the other resorts tied in with the Animal Kingdom IF I'm not mistaken.

Thank you for all the great ideas. Booked the illuminations cruise and surfing lessons for the family. Hubby had a V&A reservation already. He was trying to surprise me. We also decided to do the ultimate thrill tour in between vip touring days. It will be a whirlwind trip!

There is a safari and dinner just for AKL guests, called the Wynama (or something like that). It's not cheap, around $200 each I think but it starts out with snacks at Jinko, a bus tour of the AKL savannah then 3 course family style meal (with wine if desired) at Jinko. My DS, DIL and myself did it in May and loved it. Starts around 4 and lasts until 7:30 but was well worth it.

Forgot about this. We are doing this with just our younger two kids. Th older ones weren't interested. Silly teenagers.

My neighbor was in WDW recently. Seems her family did a lot of the activities we have planned.

She had a bizarre interaction with another guest when she, hubby and 2 kids went to board for their illuminations cruise. A woman and her son came up to my neighbor and asked if they were waiting for anyone to join them for the cruise. When my neighbor told them no the woman said "ok we are going to split it with you" and started taking money out of her bag. My neighbor told her that she wasn't interested in splitting and the lady got huffy with her!

Based on my neighbors other experiences we are canceling the surf lesson, they did not enjoy them.

She did an in room celebration and was very pleased with it, but we aren't cebrating any birthday/milestones.

She did say that the VIP touring time was wonderful and her children got a crazy amount of attention at parades/shows and meet and greets. She said they waited less than 5 minutes for all attractions and her guide got premium seating for them at BOG for dinner without an ADR.

Sounds like they had a fabulous trip.

You can also try to get California Grill and time it with the fireworks at the MK. I got lucky and have an ADR for 45 minutes before the fireworks start. :)

This sounds so lovely. No luck getting ADRs for a good fireworks time but I still have a month to go. It could happen.

I want to do the VIP touring when we go in 2017 for graduation trip!!! Sounds like your neighbor enjoyed it, if you would let us know how you liked/disliked VIP tour. Thanks, sounds like an awesome trip you have booked! enjoy :D

We did the Africa Trek last trip and have to say it was wonderful, we would do it again.
