Friends seeking travel friends thread!

For you guys that are married or have significant others, do you travel without them? My DH loves Disney, but he has less vacation than me. I feel like if I broach the subject to go alone, he'd be very bummed.
I'm poly (dating more than 1 person, not cheating) and neither guy I'm dating has any interest in Disney. That said, I am friends with my ex and we travel together sometimes. He was pretty bummed when I brought up a solo trip, and I told him to think of it like a fact-finding mission before our trip together. A lot has changed since he and I went almost 15 years ago, and with a solo trip under my belt maybe he won't have to sit there while I ride the Ariel ride a dozen times in a row...

What a cool thread! :) Hi everyone, I'm Jen.

A bit about you: I'm 34, currently moving from the east coast back home to Minneapolis. I love Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars. I've worked as a legal secretary, an accounting secretary, a personal assistant, and an editorial assistant.

What is your travel style (slow, moderate, fast paced): Moderate.

What are your trip finances like (budget, moderate, luxury): Budget-to-moderate-ish.

Planned or laid back trip: I plan obsessively so I can be laid-back once I arrive somewhere.

Morning or night person: Morning

Favorite parks: Magic Kingdom and Epcot

Are you a leader or a follower: Kind of both - when I travel for work, I'm the person with a clipboard and 2 cellphones handling a guest of honor, telling them where to go next and reminding them to eat.

Rate these in importance (1 most important, 6 least important);
1. rides and food!
then downtime and shopping
Have never been on tours and character experiences aren't my thing

Favorite time of year to travel: Will travel anytime - but for Disney I'm most interested in Halloween and Star Wars seasons :)

Welcome back to the Mid-West, I live about an hour away from Minneapolis!

Just booked a solo WDW trip for this July 11-21, 2015! Who else is going around that time? Maybe someone would like to meet up for some rides, or join some of my dining reservations, or Yehaa Bob/Irish dance show/Jellyrolls/campfire singalong? Feel free to PM for more info. Looking forward to meeting.

I will be arriving in Orlando on 7/18. Staying near Downtown Disney that night. Checking in at CBR on 7/19. I'm still working on my plans. But right now I'm thinking hang out at Downtown Disney Saturday night, head to Epcot after I check in on Sunday (I scheduled some fast passes for that evening there), Monday at MK all day, Tuesday back to Epcot. I think that is the day you leave though.

What dining reservations do you have? If something fits in with what I have planned so far it could be fun to meet up!

(This is my first solo! So I've never met up with anyone at WDW!) :)

Thanks for the reply! Here are my plans for the days that our trips overlap:

July 18: dinner at Artist Point; then evening and Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom

July 19: breakfast at Kona Café; late afternoon tea at Garden View; then campfire singalong

July 20: railroad tour in morning; lunch at Kona Café; dinner at Le Cellier

July 21: will be leaving in the late afternoon, but planned to leave the day mostly open to do whatever I didn't get to do yet; might try to catch MK welcome show if I haven't seen it by then

You'd be welcome to join me for any of this. They can always add a second person to a table for one. But if you'd rather stick with your other plans, I do understand.

Hmmmm...some of that is very tempting! Let me think about it if you don't mind. I just booked my resort yesterday and am just starting to look at fast passes and such. What time is the tea reservation and also the Le Cellier reservation?

The tea is at 4PM, and the Le Cellier reservation is at 7:35PM.

Sure, you can think about it. (If I also have plans with others by the time you decide, maybe we can all go together.)

I've already booked my fastpasses, but if it turns out we are meeting up, may be able to add you to some of mine, or to change a few of them.

Ok thanks! I'm very seriously considering the Le Cellier (it's my favorite!!). I'm planning to do MK most of that day, but surely it wouldn't be too crazy to take the monorail over to Epcot for dinner and then go back for Wishes? Or maybe I should switch things around and make that my Epcot day...hmmm...I've never done all of this! My ex planned everything for our trips. We were so much alike, I was always totally fine with whatever he planned. So I was just along for the ride! It's so much to think about! Fun, but a lot! :)

I would love to do the tea...but with checking in at 3pm, I think that would make me too rushed to try to get there in time. And I don't want anything about this trip to be rushed. That's my number one trip goal. :)

Ok I'm going to change my days around and make Monday my Epcot day. So I would love to be added to your Le Cellier reservation for sure!

OK, will do! I'll probably be arriving at Epcot in the late afternoon and staying until closing time. Later on I'll send you a PM and see if we might like to coordinate our fastpasses. :) Either way, dinner will be fun.

Sounds great! I just scheduled 3 fast passes for earlier that day. My last one is 1:10-2:10, so I will likely wander through the world showcase for most of the afternoon. I love watching the films and just sitting around in different sections, people watching. We can meet up whenever!

What are your FPs for at Epcot? I have almost identical travel dates as Daisy and plan to be at Epcot in the morning on the 20th as well. I have FPs for Nemo (9:40am), Spaceship Earth (10:40am), and Test Track (11:40am).
I plan to add my profile soon, as this was definitely a great idea for a thread. Thanks ebtbmom (Heather)! :dogdance:

Hey! I've got Spaceship Earth (10:50), Nemo (12:00) and Soarin' (1:10) that day.

I'm doing the breakfast at Akershus that morning, mainly because I want access to a practically empty world showcase! So I will likely make it to SSE a little later in that FP timeframe. :)

Cool! I'll be doing 1900 Park Fare for breakfast that day, but can meet you at Spaceship Earth at 10:50! Right now next FP for Nemo is 12:45, but maybe standby won't be too long at that time?

Would love to meet up! I meant though that my window for SSE is 10:50-11:50, so it may be around 11:30ish? before I get back to the front of the park from the world showcase. I was thinking I would hit each of those times maybe in the middle of the window it gives me.

(Forgive me for not making much sense...haha. This is my first solo trip. My now ex-boyfriend planned all of my previous trips (as an adult). He scheduled all of our FP's and I never had to think much about the timing of it all! So I've also never tried to coordinate with others!) :)

Oh, you're making sense. :-) Although I've been planning like a maniac, I've never coordinated with others either! 11:30 sounds good, too. Or I could meet you somewhere in the World Showcase before then.
