Things that add magic?

So I'm curious what things you all do to 'add extra magic' to the trip. I know that some people do tinkerbell gifts and postcards; and some people decorate their rooms, correct? What extra things do you prepare/pack to make the trip extra special?

We bring christmas stockings and hang them up with sticky hooks on the window. It started on our first Christmas trip, and the boys loved it so much that i continue to bring them on vacation even when it's not a Christmas trip. They think it's hilarious and enjoy waking up in the morning to find a new little prize in their stockings everyday.

I have always made a "Disney Pack" for the kids to open on the way there....filled with Disney related items (candy, fruit snacks, books-basically anything I can find thats Disney). I use a large mailing envelope and put Disney stickers on the outside. If we go around a holiday I bring window clings.

We bring extras on special occasions (decorations for birthdays, first trips), but I usually try to add something new each trip for the magical experience. Sometime a new reservation, Pirates and Pals, BBB, mini golf - anything we haven't tried yet. This year we are doing the Frozen special events at HS.

Thanks for the response, everyone! Yes, Disney IS magical all by itself, but I'm a planner, as I'm guessing most of us on these boards are. And I like the idea that I have seen floating around that some planning ahead = extra fun during the trip (plus if you are basically pre-purchasing souvenirs, its a cost savings). I've been researching and have seen just a ton of Disney craft-type things, but I don't know if I'd have the time to devote to something like that.

I enjoyed picking up Disney stuff at places like the Target $1 bin or Dollar Store for the plane flight to entertain the kids. Last trip I put together autograph books out of a notebook and Disney stickers with each character having a different page. And I agree with dprincessmom who said she tries to do something new each time at Disney, whether it's a new restaurant, or mini-golf or whatever to add a bit of extra excitement!

Going online and printing out Disney journal pages for kiddos is great! They include things like what you did, ate, liked and disliked, etc... They are great to have kids fill out each day and are wonderful keepsakes for after the trip!

I do extra things too it gives us all joy! First time DD was 5 and rapunzel left her a welcome note on glittered paper and a plastic rose wiht a ribbon on it,,,right in trout of the hotel door. Apparently Tinkerbelle helped her bring it in.

I have her a homemade autograph book, decorated pressed penny container.

Next trip she ended up losing two teeth in yow days! Tooth fairy came, the second tooth was lost forever in a path at AK but tink helped out once again and brought it to the tooth fairy. Tooth fairy went to the front desk at AoA and they have me a little bag to put the tooth in as wel as a celebration button. I bought a bracket in the hotel shop. So glad they are open late! The second night tink left a note and an AoA pin.

So that was some accidental magic. Our upcoming trip we gave each kid a birthday gift...for their birthdays in May and June they recieved a gift.,my daughter got a treasure chest with chocolate and a scroll telling her that we will go on the family magic tour on our November trip. Scavenger hint to find it of course! My son will find out in July that he is going to the pirates league. Both kids do both activities since the cost is reasonable.

I will do the autograph book, pennies for both kids this time. Super inexpensive and cute. I don't think there will be any other extra magic, though you never know! I am surprising my husband with a little cake at our 10th anniversary dinner.

I made a personalized bag, added a stuffed Mickey, a tsum tsum Pluto, a couple of dollar section books, a few candy packs (Mickey jelly bellies), and glow sticks. Our trip was in February, and he still talks about his Mickey gifts.

I love this idea! My DD will be 5 1/2 on our trip and this will be a great way to help record her trip. :)

We've been so many times its getting harder to think of little extras. Last year my oldest dd and I blew up over 100 balloons. Crazy, I know!! We filled our family room with them in the middle of the night. When our younger dd's awoke in the morning they went crazy for the balloon filled room. We had 1 red balloon filled with princess confetti that our youngest popped. They realized we were going to WDW and went nuts. It was soooo much fun. Our girls have lost a tooth right before a trip and we save the tooth for the "Disney tooth fairy". I love Target, Michaels, JoAnn's for cheap little gifts to leave in the room for them. It not only saves money(we all know WDW stores are expensive)but more importantly time. I hate walking around a gift store with little girls as they try to make up their mind. Have a great trip.

This will be my 2YO DD's first trip. She is Frozen crazy! I make our FP+ reservations 4 days before her birthday party. So, at her party, she will receive a "royal decree" that reas like this:

Fairest Princess J,
Our sincerest apologies as we were unable to attend your birthday party. A royal emergency came up with Christoff and Sven that was unavoidable. That sneaky Prince Hans doesn’t know when to “let it go”. Just a little joke! No matter what, I know your birthday will be magical!
However, we have heard about your bubbly personality and kind manners. We also understand that you are incredibly smart and beautiful. So, with this royal decree, we request your presence for a face-to-face meeting. The time shall be at _______ on the 15th day of September. The location shall be Princess Fairytale Hall found in Walt Disney World!
Here are your instructions:
1) Once departing the magical bus from your resort, come through the gates to Main Street USA.
2) Once you spot Cinderella’s castle, head straight past this location to Fantasyland.
3) Look for the signs to Princess Fairytale Hall and enter the line.
We are looking forward to meeting you and cannot wait to see you “for the first time in forever”!
With much love,
Queen Elsa of Arendale
Princess Anna of Arendale

I plan to hand this to a CM to let them know of the "special request" to see if something special comes of it. I've also made her an autograph book complete the pics of the characters to make her interactions mean even more. Now I'm aware she will not fully remember these things, but my DH and I will :)

Pack some patience for the little things that your child will want to do. Of all the things we did last trip, the thing my son talks about the most is playing "I Spy" on the Disney buses. He got several toys as souvenirs that trip, but he doesn't talk about those (of course they weren't delivered by Tinkerbell, so that may have something to do with it). Go ahead and pack some Tinkerbell gifts or whatever you decide to do, but also pack some patience because you never know what little thing your child will remember forever, and it would be a shame to rush right past it.

I was motivated to make airplane bags full of activity sheets and coloring activitues, stickers, etc. to help with the plane and to put together tinkerbelliny gifts to save some money on souvenirs but I ended up getting SO into it!

We are staying off prop next trip and I'm hoping to bring the disney Magic to out hotel by getting disney themed soaps and shampoos and maybe some wall decals. And maybe some disney themed snacks for our hotel room, too Disbey themed tissues and wipes too.

I plan on bringing birthday decorations to decorate the room for our sons birthday and also some window clings for the window. We have a huge bag full of things we've purchased for the drive down as well. It's got a lot of fun gifts plus road-trip essentials such as coloring books, road trip bingo, word searches, cube puzzles, license plate bingo, glow sticks, glow wands, Mater pillow pet, a Disney DS game, etc etc.

Tinkerbelle gifts are great, especially every morning and on the plane, as are little surprises here and there. Autograph books and clothing that create extra interaction work well. A surprise chocolate slipper at CRT. A surprise M&G. But really, the whole experience is a magical one as well as a massive sensory overload of joy and fun. This will be our (now 4 yo) kiddo's 3rd trip (I've been going since the parks opened -- I'm old lol). And each time it gets better as she's able to see and do more. The planning pays off in unexpected ways. A new pen pal/facetime friends here and dinner with a new group we just met who has twins here age. It's all awesome. The more flexibly planned (as I call it) that you are and the more you go into the trip with an open heart believing? Hokey as it sounds, it's a recipe for joy. It's nearly time for me to dust off my list and get my plan going. I may update once I start. So fun!

Things that were huge hits? Anna and Elsa character sweaters. And shoes~ these super comfortable painted shoes too! A light saber light sword! a better bubble gun! And this year I'm going to COMPLETELY cover our stroller in lights. And more candy for the attendants who have to relocate them over and over again. Pixie gifts. Last year was a test. It's time to make it so! :)
