DVC Member Cruise ~ August 24, 2015

So I was all logged in at 11:01 PM - and I HAD a Palo Brunch in my basket - (yeah!) and a Remy Brunch and then....my computer froze up beyond all belief (or Disney - not sure who) = would not unlock for ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would not move - would not do anything - just sat there - not even the little spinning clock - nothing - no mouse - just froze. I restarted it and COULD NOT login to my cruise -- because the system said I was still logged in - and by the time I could -Everything was gone - No Brunch for Palo or Remy. Needless to say - I was not a happy person last night - I stayed up late to do this and could not do anything! Then I could not get to sleep - so I got two hours sleep and went to work. I did my port arrival this morning - I got a 10:30 AM port arrival - so I plan on being at the ship bright and early and trying to get a Palo Brunch once I get on the ship. I know they try and keep some for people once you get on the ship. I keep checking wishing someone cancels and I can snag it (I know this is a HUGE wish - but can't blame me for trying). I hope everyone else had much better luck than me! Sounds like April had Great Luck - Way to go April!!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

My Truck died after 13 years! So sad! I bought a new SUV yesterday. I got a Jeep Trailhawk. I was excited to get a new truck - but really sad to give up my old one! I really loved that truck! Thank God I have my airfare purchased - Otherwise I know I would never convince DH to fly now! And thank God the next cruise is in Norway - No way we can drive to that! If there was - I am sure he would find a way!

I hope everyone enjoyed their long week-end! Time is just flying by!

Wow, Lynn, that stinks. I hate when I have computer issues that are beyond my power. I'd keep checking as I've been able to snag a ressie at a later date. I worked the weekend and am still working (I'm on midnights now) so I won't be off until Saturday and I have a seven mile training walk planned that I'm seriously considering cancelling. I'm exhausted and it's only Tuesday. Sorry to hear about the truck. I can't imagine having to buy a car right now, we are still playing catch up from my lack of employment while I finished school.

What really is bad - DH truck died in Oct when I was not working and we had to purchase him one - so I am back to having 2 car payments - UGH - My goal is to get them paid off as quickly as I can. Someone must have told my budget because I just paid off a DVC loan - and now instead of extra money - I get another truck payment. Oh well - can't take it with you and they can't make you pay for it when you are gone!
I don't know how you do the shifts you do! I would not know if I was coming or going! I don't see how you are going to be able to do that walk Sat - you may need to cancel and take a break!
My Cat is sick - I may need to take her to the vet Thurs is she does not get better. She has this virus that really impacts her eye - we call it Pirate Eye as she keeps her eye closed. She has some medicine for it - if it is not better in a couple of days I will take her in. As typical for cats - she Loves taking her medicine - I don't even measure it - I squirt the bottle and hope for the best. The vet said if we got any of it in her he would be happy! She walks around spitting after she gets it - kind of funny - then she mean mugs me! I try and make DH and DD do it so she does not get mad at me! My Dog is so much easier as he will eat anything!
I hope your week goes well and you gain some energy - but I think it is going to be one of those weeks! Good Luck! Let me know if you do your walk! I will let you know if I win the Palo Brunch Lottery!

Sounds like you are doing Great!!!!!!! I am so glad you are doing so well. What is this talk about not being snow birds? You don't want to be around all that cold and snow with those nice new knees! They need the wonderful winter Florida Sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me know how your week is going!

That's awful, Lynn! Any way you could call them and explain? Maybe they have a backdoor way of making exceptions. Hubby and I started checking and got nervous when we saw things slowly disapper but right at midnight they opened a bunch more slots.
What excursions or activities are you all looking forward to? It's our 1st member cruise so we are excited for some of the presentations we have heard about from past trips. We would love to hear from some artists or imagineers.

Lynn, we have two car payments but mine is just a few more months and we will be down one (of course mine is the smaller payment) but oh well. I'm sure something will eat up that money. Sounds like a pretty good possibility that I'll get almost full-time position later this summer. (which greatly reduces how much I have to pay out of pocket for our family insurance).

April, this is our first Member cruise also so we don't have much planned to allow for us to fill up the schedule with the wonderful things we find out about on board. I did book Palo brunch for the second CC day (really cause I just LOVE their brunch but hate that I'll miss part of CC for it).

Well, I better get going here, have to leave soon for work. Have a good evening ladies (since I think most of us posting are ladies, no offence to any gentlemen here).

Have a good evening at work. I love when people are excited about their job..
We are slowly recovering financially from DH being out of work for three years. He got a job that forced us to move and we knew it wasn't ideal but we managed to scrape by without foreclosure or bankruptcy but it cost us all the savings and retirement. We have luckily been able to clear a lot of debt and are rebuilding the savings. I said before he is looking again and it will mean another move but I am planning to go back to work now are youngest is firmly settled in school. I a trying to reconcile having a high schooler, a jr high student and an elementary student. Lol...I was crushed to realize DD would be out of college before the baby is in high school!

Lynn, please do not feel bad for us, however the Ohio house turns out. In the past, we have used our DVC points to spend 3 weeks in January in Studios, and topped it off with a cruise of some sort. We will not be spending the whole winter in Ohio! Plus, that would give us a chance to make some changes to the house and try again to sell it. There is a family interested right now, they have not been approved for a mortgage. We shall see!

My Saturn station wagon, is 1999 with 200,000 miles, I love that car, but it is starting to burn oil. I cannot drive yet, so it is safe for now, but it cannot be mine for much longer. We will try to get along with 1 car, but if I am ever able to get a p/t teaching/ tutoring job we may need to have 2.

When I go to surgeon next week, I will ask if @ 4 months swimming in ocean is possible, I hope so! One improvement, I no longer use the walker in the house...well 95% of time in house I am without it! I mentioned before I love to snorkel. I have done the boat excursion on CC as well as snorkeled off the beach. The variety of fish and coral that you see from the boat is far superior to what you see off the beach. Still, I am not sure which I will do if I can go in ocean.

I hope everyone can get the Brunch, dinners you want. Going to sign up on embarkation day got us what we needed on one cruise, so it does work. Go EARLY, the time listed is not necessarily the time they begin.

I looked at DVC's FB description of the Alaskan MC that's going on now. I think the line up of activities rocks! I wish we had a week, but 4 days is better than 3.... In 2013, in January, it was only a 3 nighter, that was way too short, but my sister, cousin and I were glad we went. After my friends went home, Tom came, that was a year when we did spend nearly 4 weeks of winter in FL.

Countdown reads

89 days!

Funny how life is. We think we will be OK living in Ohio, when we get an offer on the house that we could accept!

Yeah!

Bobbi :)

I thought you cannot book Palo or Remy until 6/10/15. That is what my reservations is telling me when I log into the DCL website.

It depends on what your status is regarding DCL Castaway Club.

If, when you go on line on June 10th there is nothing for you, read the Navigator when they give it to you in port. It will say where/when to go for dining changes or new reservations. Go there sooner, rather than even at the scheduled time. You may very well get what you want then.

Bobbi, Sounds like you are making great strides!!! And congratulations on the house!!! Awesome news!

April, three yearss??!! Oh my goodness. I lost my full time job in September 2013 (my boss let me work around my school schedule), he paid me very well and appreciated the good work I did. When he decided he was closing his business he actually got me my part time job at the hospital I am working at now. It was a fraction of the pay and 1/2 the hours but it was my foot in the door. Because of that, I am now an RN on this same unit. Just when we thought we'd be getting money in to start catching up on the debt we find out hubby will be losing his job. I'm trying to not be nervous. I should have more hours later this summer, thus reducing my out of pocket cost for benefits.

Would love to have a few hours and a meal without the kids one day
April, like it's been posted, if you don't get a ressie on June 10th, as soon as you board the ship, ask where to make a Palo reservation and they will direct you.

Bobbi
CONGRATS! I am so happy you will be able to be Snow Birds! Wonderful news on the house! That didn't take very long at all. Now you can start looking for something in Florida! I so want to move to FL. I hate Winters and would love to be able to pop over to Disney whenever I wanted.
How are you doing with your walking? Is it getting easier for you? Have you tried to give up the cane? From your other post it sounds like you are doing so well! Can you do swimming? Have you seen any hummingbirds? I have only seen 2 or 3 so far.
Nothing but rain here - we have received over 2 inches and it is still raining. Been cloudy or raining all week. Would love to see the sun soon. Guess I will work inside this week-end.
Hope everyone enjoys their week-end.
Lynn

Thank you Lynn.....
No hummingbirds yet! I've bought another red flowering hanging basket to entice them to our feeder!
I still use walker out in public, but with the handrail installed this morning, I just walked up to our loft and checked out my plants upstairs! This was a huge accomplishment for me!
Two sessions of PT and then meet with surgeon.

With the good prospect of moving to FL I'm checking out houses in our price range, and I am excited because houses in Solivita ( Poincienna, Kissimmee, Polk County FL) are within budget! We'll go looking at specific houses in those 5 days before the MC. We can stay in FL after the cruise if we need more time. I am not sure about houses in DeLand FL, but when we are in VB in the days before we get to WDW, we will check out that area as well. The Blue Spring SP is near DrLand....I would love to be a volunteer in winter there, it's a popular wintering place for manatees in FL!
