October is here!!! A Semi-live TR!!! Our Oct 7-14 trip to the world!

I just got......a BOG lunch reservation!
Delighted for you both!

Now that I know it works...I'm debating signing up for another ressie that's hard/impossible to get just to see...like maybe an O'hana dinner...or California Grill...but I'm torn because we do already have a lot more TS meals in our plan than I usually do...BUT....I would love to do one of those...something to think about.
Both sound like they would be tasty! We do a TS every night just to have a breather and time to talk through the day, but we also stay out late on vacation to Disney World!

OK so ...turning into a monster...I can feel it lol.

I put in another DiningBuddy request for a pre-park opening ADR at Akershus...I figure that would be a great way to see the princesses without waiting in lines....and the food looks good too. Crossing fingers. If I get that one...I MAY cancel the Cape May character buffet I booked....not sure...torn about if we'd need TWO character buffets? But they are different characters...so...there's that...ugh..why do these decisions stress me out???

If I cancelled Cape May...we'd have a whole morning to chill before the MNSSHP and that might be nice...or we could even hit up DTD or something...so that's an idea...but I do love the Beach Club atmosphere...something to think about for sure...I guess I will wait and see if that ressie comes through...I know that pre-park opening ADR's are coveted....

Thanks!! Yes they do both sound tasty...unfortunately I did look through all our plans and I don't think I can fit in any more TS dinners...SO....breakfast it is lol You're gith though...you probably stay out later than we do on vacay...we are wimps....

:woohoo:

Now.... What's DiningBuddy?

@pkondz YOU don't know what DiningBuddy is lol??? Wow...I actually found out something Disney that you didn't know!! Not sure why I find that funny..lol but I just thought I was such a newb in comparison :)) ANYWAY...Diningbuddy...is THIS! You pay $8.00 and put in the time and date you want....and it sends you a text and/or email when a reservation becomes available...and then you can get on MDE and book it right away! Or if you don't like it...you can decline and wait for something better. Like I did when it found me a 10:00am lunch reservation...if you decline it, it keeps looking.

Now YES, it is completely INSANE I KNOW...that I'm paying $8 for well...really nothing...except not having to sit there and keep checking every 5 minutes if a reservation will open up when I want it lol....but well...I just don't have the patience (or time lol) to do that and I know my DD would be heartbroken if we didn't get back to BOG on this trip.

Problem is...now I'm hooked and want to try to get all the other ADR's I tried to get but couldn't....sigh....

Ah. Consider me educated.
Actually, I consider myself a rookie in a wide swath of Disney areas.
I just don't go often enough!

But.... "Honey, I'm afraid we can't afford to go to Disney this year. I made too many hard to get ADRs with DiningBuddy!"

I know...I didn't even tell my DH (not that it matters lol, he isn't coming on this trip lol)..but I know he would think it is it is absolutely ABSURD...to pay for something like that...which I know too...it kind of is...I couldn't resist. I'm going to try to limit myself to the ONE more that I have in for Akershus now...and if it doesn't spit out something good...you can change it to something else instead at any time...it's just a flat $8 per request until you accept something...so...we shall see.

I'm gonna have to disagree here. Now that I've looked it up and read up on how it works, I think it's brilliant idea. For something like Be Our Guest, the likelyhood of just happening to check on ADRs when one just happens to pop up is truly slim to none. Like most of us, I'm a busy lady, I can only check on ADR openings so many times throughout the day. I think it's totally worth my $8 bucks to let a computer program do it for me. :thumbsup2

I should have known I could count on you to understand Billie lol. You're right though...I was only checking once a day before and even that's if I remembered to do it...so if there's an ADR you really want...I don't think it's THAT big a waste of money. But the challenge is being selective on which ones are worth using it for. I'm gonna see if I get Alkershus...

I just got......a BOG lunch reservation!!!!

Congrats! If and when we ever go back, I'll have to try and remember that strategy as an option! I think my dh would also think I was nuts if I did it - but I would have to let him know, so he wouldn't think our account had been hacked for the $8! :scared:

Again, because of the dang tier system...having trouble figuring out our FP+ choices for Epcot.
It really is a ridiculous system. For us it always requires 2 days worth of FP's at Epcot just so we can ride Test Track and Soarin'

the cronut is definitely on my list
Good choice. Love this thing! They sell them at a local grocery store by us and it helps with the craving, but its not nearly as good as the Epcot version.

Also, hoping to browse in the Japan shop. I actually have never been in there. Haven't really taken much time in any of the shops before because have usually been with impatient hubby and kids...hopefully DD will enjoy this more now.
How have you never been here? I loved it as a kid and now my daughter does too. Of course I sweeten the deal that she can pick something out while we are there ; ) Last time we left with chopsticks and a fan.

OMG you guys I'm so excited...and so impressed with *****************!!! I just got......a BOG lunch reservation!!!! Wahhoooooo!!! I'm so excited about this!!
Funny, we are watching beauty and the beast as I read this ; ) Congrats on the lunch

I put in another *********** request for a pre-park opening ADR at Akershus...I figure that would be a great way to see the princesses without waiting in lines....and the food looks good too.
You'll see it coming up in my DR soon, but in a bit of foreshadowing we were not impressed at all.

Why is DisneyDiningBuddy all starred-out now? LOL. Are we not permitted to discuss this service on our PTRs? :confused3

Was it linked? I don't remember now.
This from the DISboards guidelines:

She didn't link it, because I had to google it to find out more information after seeing it mentioned here. Weird!

Yeah...It is pretty cool and does save a bit of stress....of course I'm still second guessing the request I put in now and wondering if I should change it to something even more coveted if I'm paying the $8...

The system is nuts. Also - the way that they divided the tier's makes it even more nuts. Oh well..I guess we have to accept it and move on and do our best to do as much as we can with what we've got. Sadly we just don't have time to fit in 2 Epcot days...sigh. I guess this is where a Park Hopper would come in handy...on a longer trip...I think I'm starting to see the value....but with only 6 days and one of them being MNSSHP I just couldn't justify the cost on this trip.

Cronut...yum...never seen them at a grocery store...not that I've really looked lol...but looking forward to the Epcot version.

Re: never having been to the Japan store...well..the thing is...the last time I was in Epcot at all was probably 5 years ago...and with two little kids. I agree that there IS lots to keep the kids happy at Epcot...BUT...sadly for my kids...it doesn't involve browsing in shops...at least not when they were little...but I do hope that NOW...with maybe some bribery...I may be able to get DD to spend a bit more time in them. The thing I find at Epcot as well though...if you don't really KNOW what's there and pay attention to the maps and descriptions in WS...it's easy to just cruise on by and not really notice some of the stuff if you know what I mean? Like you can walk on by and say "oh, France"...and see some of the details and such...but without knowing there's something special worth looking at inside...and kids pulling on your hands...it's easy to just keep walking...I know I'm rambling...anyway...

Yes, so excited about the BOG lunch. I'm a little nervous now to read about your bad experience...I guess I will find out though...are you talking about BOG or Akershus? I've been to BOG lunch before...never Akershus...as long as you say the food was edible lol...it's more about the Princesses and I figure Akershus might be more attainable than say CRT or something...but who knows.

Apologies....I had no idea...I didn't link though...and it isn't MY website...but...I will know for future...I thought we could recommend things to people? I'm not self promoting or anything?? Oh well...sorry if I goofed!

I don't know if that's what happened, just my best guess.
Had something to do with it, I figured.
Really? Beats me! :confused3

Yeah...It's got me worried now though because I may have recommended (the offensive thing) more than once around these parts lol...because I may be just a bit excited about it!! But I would like to understand the rules for next time because ya know...when I find something I like...I do like to tell people about it!

Meh, I think you will be alright.

Thanks!! Can't wait!!! And this time, I WILL try the Grey Stuff lol...if only on a cupcake lol

So I've been doing some thinking in regards to our Epcot day, which is slated for Monday October 12. I have a dining request in for an ADR at Akershus at pre-park opening 8am (with DiningBuddy reservation system which shall not be named because I don't wanna get in trouble). So if we are lucky and GET said ADR...should that change our touring plan for the precious RD time since we'd already be at the back of the park? What is Akershus close to that we should run to right away? I had planned on doing Nemo and Turtle Talk first...should that still be the plan?

Also.. @kastoney I'm a little scared if you have something to say about Akershus...(or was it BOG?). In any case I was excited about some of the items I saw on the menu...but...really it's all about the princesses. That's the real reason I wanted this ADR. I may cancel Cape May if we get that....Not sure if we need 2 character breakfasts.

Not sure if we need 2 character breakfasts.
Character meals are my favorite. I think the only reason you wouldn't want to do one is if its the same characters again (which it isn't) or if you have a child that could easily become overwhelmed or don't like characters.

Akershus is in the Norway pavilion, so the closest thing to it someone would want to do for RD would be Test Track or Mission Space. I know you said you wouldn't do Mission Space (I wouldn't either).

Its in Norway So Test Track is closest.
I had planned on doing Nemo and Turtle Talk first...should that still be the plan?
I frankly wouldn't bother to Rope Drop either of these. It seems like quite the waist. I would either shoot for Soarin or Test Track. (If you are worried about motion sickness on soarin just ask for the bottom row. being able to look down at the edge of the screen helps)
