Solo travel - which resort?

I did the All Star Movies by myself last year, which was actually fine. I was afraid as a value resort it might be a little noisy, but I was in one of the Herbie buildings and it was as secluded as a building can be at an All Star resort. Every time I've stayed on site, it's been at a value resort, but I've decided to treat myself to POR this fall by myself. I can't say I recommend it yet, but I'm encouraged by what I've read about it from other comments so far.

Thanks! I hope you have a fabulous time at POR!

you are young - so might go with POR or even CSR - both are definitely bigger than POFQ - now POFQ only has counter service no restaurant - POR has both.
think that POR is the bike rental place too. both POR and POFQ have the boat (plus bus) to DD.

the studios at BCv are generally not bigger than the regular rooms at BC - they have one queen bed and a double sleeper sofa, the regular room should have 2 queen beds in bc.

now if you want more room - the studios at OKW are very big and you can walk, boat or bus to DD.

you can rent points from a DVC member (on this site) or a broker

Thanks for your input (and for calling me young! Ha!!). I ended up deciding on splitting my stay between CSR and POFQ, as I'd like to check them out as possibilities for our family trip in January.

I've never given much thought to OKW - but, your point about them having more room has me intrigued!

Thanks!

and POFQ is a great place to stay and check out the amenities at POR! (TS restaurant for one)

Be sure you take the boat to DTD. My sister always says it is her favorite WDW ride! :)

I actually prefer the Yacht Club over the Beach Club. Seems to be a bit quieter and all rooms have a full balcony.
Second this. I have done solo at YC twice and AKL once. Both were fine. I missed a menu sit down breakfast restaurant at AKL, all they have is QS at Mara or Boma buffet.

I didn't consider how secure a closed resort felt until I booked the Poly for an upcoming trip and realized I would be walking alone between buildings in the near dark. Anyone can get off that monorail and they don't require a magic band swipe to enter the outer buildings, which would be nice.

Thanks for your input! I think that I will enjoy POFQ! Another trip, I certainly hope to do BC!

Thank you for your input! I'm looking forward to staying at POFQ and I plan to take a trip over to POR to check it out too. Your trip sounds wonderful - I know you'll have a great time!

I'd love to do a girls trip - but, I tried it last year and it didn't go so well… so, I think I need to find more like minded traveling companions. lol

Thanks, again, for your input!

One disaster group trip made me a solo traveler for life I think lol. It is soooo easy going alone.

Having recently done a solo trip, my prime requisite was inside hallways....meaning a deluxe.
I hopped between the Beach Club Villas (my home resort), Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge. All were wonderful but nothing beat the perfect feeling at Beach Club for a solo.

An absolutely perfect resort & location for a woman traveling alone. Worth every penny. No comparison.

I have stayed at CSR and POFQ and liked them both. I think you have made a great choice to do a split stay and by staying at 2 moderates instead of a deluxe saving some money is a bonus!

Honestly I have stayed at many of the different hotels on site and the one thing that I notice is that I don't really spend that much time at the hotel. For that reason I just booked a trip and I will be staying in the All Star Sports. I guess it just depends if you want to spend the extra money if you feel that you would utilize the extra amenities. Have a great trip!

I've booked at POFQ, so I'm definitely planning to use the boat a couple times at least.

Good point!

I can agree with that!!!

Glad I'm not alone … I love traveling with my daughters (but, they can't go for this trip, due to school and a planned trip in Jan 16)… but, aside from trips with them, think I'm a solo girl!! I don't need anyone 'ruining' WDW for me.. lol

I think that my next solo (gasp - already thinking about that!!) I will look into renting points for BCV… for this trip, I finally landed on splitting between CSR (business class) and POFQ, as those were two resorts I was interesting in checking out!

I think I will enjoy it! I'm excited about both resorts!!

:lmao: it only takes one disaster trip to crave a solo trip. I hear you. I had a disaster trip not long ago and you can bet my next trip will be a solo trip! ;)

After 6 out of 12 days doing what the group wanted, when I rebelled to have night my way I was difficult and a bully because, somehow, saying, "go ahead with your plans, I am doing this instead" was me trying to control them. Plus my roommate was perpetually late, thought I should wait for her to drag herself out of bed and that I should stand in line for her. Long story short, I am no longer friends with her and by day 12 she was lucky I hadn't drowned her (joking about drowning her, not about ditching her as a friend).

So glad I'm not alone!

THIS - sounds so familiar… except in the worst instance, it was me checking in for a breakfast reservation and her showing up an HOUR LATER!

I have been so, so fortunate in my Disney travel companions...then again, I was SUPER picky about who I invited on my birthday trip two years ago :). That being said, I just booked my own solo trip at POFQ for 2016, and I cannot WAIT. No one to argue with me over which fast passes to book, no one to make sighing noises when I don't want to eat at a particular restaurant, no one keeping me up when I'm ready to go to sleep already!
