Avengers: Age of Ultron is almost here and everything is point to a super-mega hit. Marvel and Disney are going to rock with this one. Reviews are not as good as the first, but still fine in the upper 70's and interest is off the charts. Pre-sales are at 4 times the presales of the original and 5 times the sales of Iron Man 3!!! A $200 Million plus domestic opening weekend is predicted. Very high expectations were set for oversees with an expected $175 Million. This prediction was completely wrong. The movie made over $201 Million and didn't even open in several major markets yet! A Billion is a foregone conclusion, the only question now is how much beyond will it get. The best estimates say $1.5 to $1.6 but some say higher and some lower. We will see. What apparently works according to a number of critics is good characters, story, and some nice dialoge to go along with amazing action. Story, story, story. Disney and Marvel have learned. DC can only drool, dream, and hope. Go to the theaters and see Avengers: Age of Marvel, er, I mean Ultron, this weekend!!

I know I'll be there on Saturday night. Very excited! I missed out on Cinderella on opening weekend but I was smart this time and went on Fandango for my tickets for the nearest theater with IMAX. I'm not familiar with that experience but it should at least be interesting.

I don't often listen to the critics because I will they have favoritism to their bosses.

I thought Marvel was still pretty much making these films and using Disney as their distribution mode. Sort of like what they're doing with Star Wars.

So excited!! As a 43 year-old, mom of 3, would it be totally weird if I went to the movie by myself on Friday while the kids are in school? :rotfl: I don't know when DH and I will be able to take the kids since this weekend is going to be crazy busy.

I really liked it. Not as much as I like the first Avengers movie but I need to see it again. Witty banter needs to be re-heard in some places. I REFUSE to do spoilers so I will not talk about this movie until everyone else has seen it.

Yes, Marvel Studios is making the Marvel movies for Disney, but Disney now owns Marvel 100% and distributes the movies. Marvel, Pixar, and Lucas Films, are all individual studios but are all fully owned and distributed by Disney. It was smart of Disney to let these entities that were successful before Disney to continue their own operations.

It is almost Thursday! AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! (At the theater.)

I thought it was great! Yeah, maybe not as good as the first one, but that's a very high bar to meet! I am surprised to see all the grumbling online today as it seemed to be a real crowd pleaser. Spader's Ultron was kinda different but kinda awesome. Overall, it's yet another very strong MArvel movie that looks to bring in a ton of bank. I need to see it again before my trip!

i really liked James Spader and the other new characters. I just anted some more stuff. Other parts I did not like. I am super picky, so I am super hard to impress. I loved Guardians of the Galaxy, so I as hoping it would be on that level.

We were going to check it out tomorrow but kiddo has a bad ear infection so we're gonna wait a few weeks.

GREAT movie - I just saw it today. However, you need to brush up on your Marvel Cinematic Universe knowledge to understand it as their is a LOT of talking.

If you haven't seen any of these films watch these first:

Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain America: Winter Solider
Thor 2 The Dark World
The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Guardians of the Galaxy

I know I basically told you to watch them all, but seriously unless you just want explosions and COOL COMIC CHARACTERS on screen - check them out to understand the story that their building as a whole.

I really enjoyed it overall, though I do think that the first Avengers was better. Of course, I think it would be nearly impossible to top the first Avengers in my eyes, but I definitely want to see Age of Ultron again.

On a related note, is anyone else watching Agents of SHIELD? I like how they tied in this past week's episode to the movie, and I'll be interested to see how much, or little, the events of the movie play into the next episode and the remainder of the season.

It was great! We watched in digital 3D. I was glad all the previews, teasers, trailers, etc. didn't give away the best parts of the movie.

I watch Agents of Shield - I loved how they tied it in too, and I'm also looking forward to the next episode. Still wondering what Theta Protocol is. :-)

Haven't seen Avengers AOU yet, going tonight. I about died laughing when, on SHIELD last Tuesday, Agent Coulson tells some news of what is going on and says, "Oh... Spoiler Alert!" Haha! I love the tie-ins, too.

Saw Avengers AOU last night and loved it! Thought it was better than the first one actually. Loving all the new characters being introduced too. Oh and getting to see the Star Wars Episode VII in 3-D just made it even more awesome! =)
