Disney Vacation Account.. Success!!

I just tried to pay dvc due with dva $ and it did not work. Member accounting put in the dva # 3 times and keep giving her an error message. Anyone has recent success or failure?

Did you say you were using the DVA or a Disney Gift Card? If you mention DVA, you will most likely be denied. If they tried your DVA Account Number, did you give them all 16 digits?

I said disney gift card and gave member service the 16 digit number. CM tried it three time and each time say error.

Did you double check to make sure that you gave them the correct number? The first 12 digits are sent to you by email, the last 4 digits are on the DVA website.

I've not seen anyone else report issues.

I wrote down the number initially. After the CM told me there was a problem, I asked her to wait and have 12 digit email to me from dva. It was the same number. She tried it twice but still no go. I will try again later today or tomorrow.

Update. Before my first try for payment today, I added more gift cards to dva. Then I tried to pay but has problem. I just called back and applied partial payment not including the gift card amount I just added today. It went thru. I am not sure earlier problem was related to the gift card added or computer problem. At any way, I am happy it works

Was able to use my vacation club account without any problems at all! Told them it was a gift card, I just gave them my account number and they applied it to my balance. No issues at all. Purchased gift cards at Target using my Target card, then added them to my account. Saved $50 on my annual dues! Thank you very much!

I am confused in setting this up for next year. I would like to fund it thru the yr with discounted GC's. What to I set as amount and dates so it will take the minimum amount out and that I can use it whenever I want. I don't want to be stuck with auto withdrawls for 5 yrs and all that money sitting there.
thanks for the help.

You can turn of the auto withdrawals as soon as the account is opened.

You can set the amount and date to whatever, and it can easily be changed. I just keep moving it to my next trip.

Actually, no, that won't work. The DisneyStore.com is the only place so far that did not take the DVA. I tried this a couple of weeks before Christmas when they had the Vera Bradley sale. I'm sure that'll probably change at some point as well :thumbsup2
Apparently, this works now?

Where'd you hear that?
Someone posted on the Budget Board under the thread "Disney Vacation Account questions". I haven't tried it yet. That's why I put a ? mark in my post. Hoping someone has tried and succeeded.

Add me to the list of successes!

I hesitantly opened a DVA today with a $10 deposit on my Disney Visa card. Then, I added in the 19 $50 cards I bought at Target. I called Member Accounting and told them I would be paying with a gift card. The CM asked me how many gift cards I would be using today and I said, "Just one." I heard the sigh of relief...she said so many people are calling up and using 20-30 gift cards. She asked for the gift card number and I read off the DVA number and told her it was for $950. She entered it and gave me my confirmation number. Then, I paid the remaining $14.08 with my debit card. Super easy!

Now that I have the account, I will probably use it to consolidate Target/Sam's Club gift cards for my "solo" trip in October. I won't be using points so I will actually have a resort reservation to pay for this time. I should be able to earn the $20 bonus by then too.
I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question.
I can certainly see the benefit of DVA and CC withdrawls, if you have a CC with cash back.
What is/are the benefit(s) of buying multiple gift cards from Retail? Is there a discount on the GC?

This is great news! I didn't open one because from my understand I couldn't use it for dues. Now, I was looking to see if I did open one could I use it buy DVC discounted AP's but now that I know some of you have used it for dues - thats even better!!

I can confirm it can be used for DVC dues. Just be sure to tell them you're using a GIFT CARD, not a DVA.

And don't forget the current 2% back in GCs promotion from DVA when you use the DVA to pay for things. That's like getting 2% off your dues.

I can also confirm now that I consolidated $1,000 in (discounted) GCs and then requested a "cash out" for the same amount on one GC. This will be a lot easier to travel with rather than lugging 20 $50 cards around. Since I'll be staying offsite this time, I won't be able to charge to the room. You can request up to $1,000 in GCs every 90 days, according to current rules. Make sure to take a photo of the back of your GC in case it's lost, as they can be replaced as soon as they're reported missing.

I also just paid my Poly DVC dues from my DVA, and that worked too. I'll be getting another $20 GC soon through their current promotion. Which I can load back to my DVA.

Was there a fee for sending the cashed out gift card? Were you able to request a single $1000 gift card? On another thread, it was reported that there was a shipping fee and the only gift cards available were in $100 denominations. -- Suzanne

No shipping fee, and I requested a single card. I could've requested multiple cards (totaling $1,000, of course!) if I wanted to.

The other thread is incorrect. Since the cards are created from the cash-out request, I could request any amount, dollars and cents, up to $1,000.
