I'm curious why the first week of December is excluded from the free dining, when crowd calendars tops out at a 6, and only on the weekend?

I'm only asking because I'm considering renting DVC, and wondering what that booking will be like, as far as availability in about a month's time (when I can afford to book)

Well the last time I went in December the first week, they taped the Christmas Parade.

With that being the week after Thanksgiving maybe the resorts are still pretty full?

or -
Could be those dates coincide with the Pop Warner Cheerleading competition?

No, no, the question still is... How far up the jungle cruise without a paddle will I be if I wait to rent points for DVC until next month.
You shouldn't have an issue. Pop warner generally takes over values and maybe a moderate. Free dining is usually excluded because they don't need the bookings

You WILL have trouble renting DVC for first week of December. Many DVC room categories sold out by February. That week is one of the most popular weeks to book DVC for a variety of reasons. Rooms might be available at bigger resorts like Saratoga Springs but expect to have few choices.

Mostly Disney has seen that they can book their resorts just fine without extensive dates for free dining. Their incentive to offer deals is going down, right along with the deals. Every year it is for fewer and fewer dates.

Forget about renting DVC for the first week or two of December. that is the busiest time of year for DVC. It's the lowest point season, crowds are low, and holiday decorations are in full swing. Almost everything is already booked full.

yes sorry to say there will be very slim pickings for the first week of December. At this point, its almost the 7 month mark for the first week and most categories/rooms are sold out, or have random, scattered dates available. In the future, it may be best to book 11 months in advance for DVC reservations that week and you will be good! Good luck!

If you want to stay at Kidani, OKW or Saratoga in a 1 bedroom or above then you shouldn't have a hard time finding a room. I would rent now though.

What is considered the first week of December? Is it the week that starts on Nov 29th or the week that starts Dec 6th? I was told the first week of December wasn't busy.

DVC inventory & WDW inventory are totally different. Just because a room is available on cash to the general public does not mean it is available to DVC members on points.

DVC aside, early December has become more & more crowded as the years go by. While it does not compare to Easter week, it is still busy. Plus many locals will visit to see decorations so more people in parks but not necessarily in resorts.

I'm wondering about this as well. We're scheduled to go on 12/04 and stay until 12/09, also renting DVC points.... which will be done in the next week cause that's when the 7 month window opens...... So what are you guys saying is the 1st week of December?

both weeks are busy (starting 11/28, and 12/5) for DVC- I just checked and the only resorts which have (more than 3 days in a row) availability in a studio are Saratoga, OKW and Kidani- If you plan on renting points- do so much much sooner than later as inventory can fill up very quickly.

I'd guess taping of the Christmas parade (usually the first Saturday) is part of the reason for the big crowds.
