A Mickey Bar a day makes everyone happy! Updated 06/07 Dinner at Ohana!

Sci-Fi sounds like a great experience! I may have to sample one of the Florida craft beers during our upcoming dinner at Sci-Fi. Didn't even know those were on the menu. :scratchin

We are suckers for all the corniness that is SciFi too. I'd never noticed the craft beers before though, gonna have to rectify that next trip. And what a change for disney that they are cooking a table service burger to order. We were disappointed that neither The Plaza or Liberty Tree Tavern would

We had luck with this at Liberty Tree when we ate there on March 17th too Kari. The server specifically asked Jack how he wanted his burger (he had many, many burgers this trip!). It was a surprising question for me because as Canadians we are used to all burgers having to be cooked to an internal temp of 170C. There were probably 5-6 craft beers on the menu... I was very happy to see them!

Hope you enjoy your Sci-Fi experience as much as we did! That Orange Blossom pilsner was so good!

We were off to Epcot on another beautiful, sunny and hot day! After enjoying Soarin', living with the Land and spending some time with our beloved manatees, we were ready for lunch! It was really getting crowded now and we were thankful to make our way over to the Rose and Crown to enjoy some refreshment. Our reservation was for 1:25, we checked on about 10 minutes early and at 1:30 we were led to a lovely shady table overlooking the water. This would have been a fabulous location in the evening for Illuminations! Our waitress was soon by to take our drink orders. I chose the oh so yummy Cider and Black while DH went for a Kilkenny. The boys all chose sodas and our waitress was sure to bring tall icy cold glasses of water for everyone which was really appreciated in the heat. After checking out the menus we placed our orders. DH and I chose the chicken masala.image.jpg
The roasted vegetables served with this was my favourite, the chicken itself was good but a little dry for our our tastes. We both prefer a creamier curry sauce. This did not prevent me from eating every bite! The naan bread was warm and fresh and the cucumber raita paired nicely with the masala spice. I think DH would have enjoyed his more if he had have asked for it to be a bit spicier.

DH 1 and 3 chose the Welsh pub burger with crispy battered leeks. This was cooked medium well at their request and was piping hot and very flavourful. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The boys enjoyed every bite.image.jpg
DS 2 chose the fish and chips which was a large piece of thinly battered fish served with piping hot fries. The fish was flaky and delicious with a nice mild taste ( I think it was haddock but I'm not 100% sure). He really enjoyed this.

Overall we enjoyed our meal here. Our service was great and the location was just beautiful. Due to the limited menu however I think we may explore other World Showcase options for lunch before returning here.

The boys were wilting from the heat at this point so DH took them back to the hotel while I headed off to Getmany in search of some delicious caramel goodness........

Sounds like a great lunch. That fish and chips looks delicious.

I happily wandered around World Showcase on my own for a bit, just soaking in the atmosphere. After choosing a beautiful Christmas ornament, I wandered over to the Karamel Kuche to pick up some yummy goodness.......

Needless to say these two little darlings did not last long.... I especially loved the dark chocolate sea salt caramel.

MMMmm those are great treats. I can't wait to try both of them on our next trip. I am really enjoying your trip review especially the selections for kids. I have twins as well but they are 5 y/o's and B/G. Can't wait for the next update.

Any chance you can send some of that caramel delight this way right about now? ; ) Like you I"m a huge fan of the chocolate covered salted caramel. Never tried the popcorn, but on the must do list for next trip.

Yay so great to have readers!! It's so fun to relive the trip through writing this report! Helps to make the post Disney depression a little more bearable..... :).

After heading to the lounge for wine and nibbles we went off to HS for EMH. Of course the perfect after dinner snack was ...... Mickey Bars!!! This is my ultimate Disney favourite; rich delicious chocolate with smooth creamy vanilla ice cream..... They are simply perfection!! image.jpg

Wow, you must be so busy with 2 little 5 year olds! I teach kindergarten and absolutely adore that age! So fun! Are your twins close?? My boys are great friends. Being a twin mama is a pretty amazing experience! You will certainly love that chocolate caramel...... Oh my! When is your trip planned for?? I think we may go back again next March ( fingers crossed) three is never such a thing as too much Disney!

Kari, I only wish I had access to one of those caramels right about now. I am 2.5 weeks into a month long no sugar/alcohol/ processed foods cleanse. Pretty much needed after all my excesses at Disney but I am missing chocolate so much! I enjoyed the popcorn but it wasn't the best caramel popcorn ever, I think it had been sitting a littke bit. I wish I had brought a large ziplock with me as I think it would have done better in an airtight bag. It was good but I think I'd pick the sea salt caramel as my indulgence of choice any day!

Up next.... Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern!

On a beautiful St Patrick's Day morning we were off to Magic Kingdom. The park was not overly crowded and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had reservations at 1:20 for Liberty Tree Tavern and headed over to check in about 1:10. We had the longest wait to be seated and we're finally led to our table around 1:45. Our waiter was over quickly to take our drink orders . This was the point where I would have given my arm for an ice cold beer.... however a pomegranate lemonade had to fit the bill. After looking over the menu we made our choices.

DH went for the pot roast which was moist and delicious. The beef was fork tender and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. There was not a bite left!

I had been craving fresh greens after my indulgences the day before so went for the Colony Salad. I chose the grilled chicken to top it and omitted the pecans as I'm allergic to them. The green were crisp and yummy and all the flavours worked really well together. There was a bit too much dressing on the salad for my taste but I would just ask for the dressing on the side next time. The salad hit the spot as a perfect lunch on a hot day.

Unsurprisingly DS 1 chose a cheeseburger (see a pattern here.....lol). Again he was asked how he would like it cooked and chose medium well. The lettuce and tomato on the side were fresh and crisp and his French fries were perfectly cooked. Another win!

DS 2 and 3 picked the kids Mac and cheese. This was a large portion and very creamy. DS 3 actually couldn't finish his portion as he found it very rich.

We all enjoyed our meals and it was a nice respite out of the heat. Service was great and we felt it was well worth the little bit of extra money over a CS meal. My only disappointment was that I could't have the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cske as there are nuts in the toffee sauce. We decided to head back to the Beach Club at this point as SAB was calling our names. On the way back I checked out MDE for a surprise last night birthday dinner for my boys. Stay tuned to find out what I managed to snag 48 hours out......

The food at LTT looks delicious and thanks for posting that the Toffee cake sauce had nuts in as I didn't realise that :)

The boys were tired out after our day at Magic Kingdom so they decided to have a quiet night in. I had other thoughts in mind however so after enjoying some appies and wine in the lounge, I headed over to World Showcase. My first stop was France for a delicious Grey Goose slushie (tinted green for St. Patrick's Day). This was very refreshing on a warm evening as I strolled around.

Liberty Tree was a great meal, my boys were all full and happy! I just wish the toffee sauce for the Ooey Gooey cake didn't have nuts in it... oh well!

Thanks for your comments! It is a lot of fun reliving our trip through writing this report. I might just be a little Disney obsessed....lol!

Yes we are always busy we also have an 8 y/o. Yes my twins are extremely close it is funny because I get asked all the time if they are triplets. We are planning to go back next April.

The pot roast looks fantastic.

Wednesday morning we were off to Kona Cafe for breakfast. While I was perfectly happy to eat breakfast in the lounge each day, the boys wanted a hot breakfast at least one day. I went on MDE Tuesday afternoon and was happy to secure a 9:45 reservation for the next day. It was great to have a filling breakfast as we were heading off to Typhoon Lagoon for the day. We were seated quickly upon arrival . After looking at the menu we placed our drink orders. DH and I shared the Kona press pot. So delicious!! I could drink this coffee every day.....

The twins chose the smoothies while DS 1 went for the Likoli juice.

Both drinks were served icy cold and were very refreshing.

We went on to make our food choices and I thought ong and hard about the Samoan Poached Eggs. However, I have an ongoing love affair with Tonga Toast so I just had to order it. DH chose this as well. The Tonga Toast was utter perfection......beautiful cinnamon sugar on the outside with soft banana goodness on the inside. Add the strawberry sauce and we were in heaven. Even though I was SO full, I managed to finish every last bite.

DS 1 went for the eggs over easy with bacon and potatoes. There was not a scrap left. His eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked and piping hot.
image.jpg
DS 2 and 3 went for the pancakes with bacon for one and sausage for the other. This was a massive portion and although they did their best their was no way they could eat it all. This was definitely a case where ordering the kids portion would have been a better choice.

This was a fantastic meal and well worth booking. We were so pleased with the food, service and atmosphere.

We were off now for a fun day at Typhoon Lagoon and the type of lunch you only have on vacation.........
