Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

Wow, this thread is over a year old and has some pretty persuasive opinions as to how FP+ was introduced to somehow make the distribution more "fair" to guests. Too bad a recent article with interviews from Disney staff (link in my signature) proved otherwise.

Are you talking about this part, "MagicBand probably won’t come to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, because restructuring costs would be too high."?

I'm surprised that article hasn't gotten more play. That seems like pretty big news in the MM+ storyline.

That article does provide some interesting insights into the politics and posturing that are inevitable with a major project involving multiple parts of a large company. I saw my share of those in my working days, albeit on a smaller scale.

I also found it interesting that FP+ is barely mentioned in the article. It should be pretty apparent from that that FP+ was not a driving force behind the overall MM+ initiative. If you believe the article, that should put to rest any arguments that Disney spent a billion dollars solely on a ride reservation or ride rationing system.

I didn't think the statement about MM+ and Disneyland was really any different than the statements made a few months ago. I remembered that as saying that MM+ would not be implemented at Disneyland in the same way that it has been at WDW. Saying that Magic Bands probably won't be coming to Disneyland is not inconsistent with that.

My opinion is the use of the phrase "guest experience" is all encompassing and refers to all facets of the MM+ initiative, including FP+. I would agree that Disney didn't spend more than a billion dollars "solely on a ride reservation or ride rationing system" but then I haven't heard anyone argue that's all it was for.

According to the article, the expenditure was made in an effort to reverse the negative and growing trend of disenfranchised guests who offered "long lines" as one of their top reasons for dissatisfaction. I have no reason not to believe the article.

Besides Disneyland and WDW are two different creatures with different clientele. There is no reason to assume that what works for one (if it even does) will work for the other. Plus reasons for implementing changes or not might differ too. Apples and oranges.
