Were in the same boat! Love Rarotonga but thinking id like to be away from construction! Not sure what I'll request yet but were 112 days out so we'll be around the same time!

Disney called us today and said pool won't be open until "mid-April", as their letter previously indicated. They stated they will provide free passes to Typhoon Lagoon.

Big. Fat. Giant. UGH. Was really banking on it being done April 1 especially since the bungalows are booked. You'd think they would stick fast to that deadline with people paying $14k/week...I'd want a pool if I'm paying that much. We are booked there 18-25 and "mid-april" completion is dangerously close. And, we built (no pun intended) 2 pool days into our schedule. Do I jump ship and head over to Old Key West???

I'd hold out...but that's me. I have hope for May 3. And they are making so much progress each day! What if you held out and then if not finished jump ship last minute.

As a point of reference, WL pool, which was completely redone as well by same contractor, was filled exactly 3 weeks before opening, and was in a similar state of completion as Poly pool at that point. Poly pool was filled Mar 13, so that would put completion at April 3 at same rate. They've been working 24x7 to get it done, so it's still possible to exceed that and get it done by April 1. At this point I think they are just hedging. A lot of people mistakenly (IMO) took the letter I'm referring to to mean the pool would be open for their stay (anyone with April reservation, including April 1, got the letter with their MBs). It stated the East pool construction would begin mid-April and the Lava Pool would be open during that time. I took that to mean the Lava Pool would be done by mid-April and they wouldn't start on East Pool until that time. It was poorly worded, and arguably shouldn't have been sent to people staying the first week of April since those people read into it that the Lava Pool would be available during their stay, not during East Pool construction, which is what it actually stated if you read the whole context. The phone call is consistent with this -- now they are saying "by mid-April" for both Lava Pool completion and East Pool construction beginning. My money is still on April 3 (first weekend after PVB opens).

I am staying at poly in April and did not get a letter
Checking in the 14th
I am in the villas.
Reason I booked there because I was hoping the pool was done.

And didn't get a phone call either.
If pool is not done. I would hope if some got passes to typhoon lagoon. Everyone would.
I did not get that phone call.
Hoping because the pool would be open then.

Welp, I jumped ship. Couldn't handle the anxiety over the construction. Even if the pool is done there is still a ton of construction going on and I wouldn't be happy if I got stuck with a room overlooking construction. A little bit bummed b/c would've been nice to be on monorail and stay in a different resort than last time but I feel more at ease now that we got a room at Beach Club.

BC/YC is great! And being able to walk to 2 parks or boat is a bonus. We jumped ship last August to GF, it was the right decision for us, but this Aug we're sticking to Poly. Having a main pool open esp in August is important to us. I couldn't see staying at Poly last Aug with no main pool.
Love SAB. I could stay in the lazy river all day!

yeah, we are there may 5-9 and i really think the pool will be opened before we get there. they're pretty far along at this point.

I spoke with IPO 2 days ago - they are still not open for booking and they do not have a price change in the system. They do not now when they will be bookable. I keep watching the photos of the pool progression to see if they even bring cabanas back... I am hopeful that they will but I also have some doubt about it.

just got my welcome email today. it says the east pool will be closed from mid-april and that guests can use the lava pool.

this is welcomed news for anyone arriving in may.

We are staying in the Hawaii building in September and just got an email too. Says the East pool will be closed from mid April until early 2016. But we will be able to enjoy the lava pool and hottub.

Other than DVC members at certain pools, the policy is no pool hopping. Even before the refurb, cast members were checking resort IDs and/or wrist bands.

I hope they enforce this. The pool looks small for all those guests already! Not to mention if others try to get in.
