Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

@True Romance
Welcome, neighbor! I'm in Northern CA, too (San Jose region) :)

@Keels, I hear ya. I'm very competitive with myself, too (always want to beat my previous pace, distance, etc). You definitely want to be able to have fun during the race instead of "struggling" to finish! If that means deferring Pixie Dust, I think it's a good decision.

I am actually from San Jose, across from Cupertino. Moved to a suburb of Sacramento 11 years ago. Had to get out of the crazy bay area.

Does anyone know if the Expedition Everest 5K challenge will be back in 2016? I don't see if anywhere, but I think they might be waiting till after the run this year before they add it to the calendar.

Nope. This is the final year for it.

Hi True Romance/Kristi. Welcome to the party.

Looks like you have lots of good RunDisney experience.

Oh man, that totally sucks. I really had wanted to do that race.
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people are disappointed. I'd been hoping to do it someday too. :(

I was thinking they'd replace it with another half marathon weekend (Star Wars?) but who knows.

Got a new Half PR this weekend  2:08:39 2 min and 20 seconds faster than my very first half that I did in 2011. I haven't been able to get that since then, so I was super excited.

My goal was under 2:10 and by golly I got it! I was on pace for under 2:05 until mile 7 and some crazy hills started. There was a gradual incline for half a mile at mile 10. It was nuts. Then it started snowing...in Mississippi...in March. That's not normal here. I also think that I started out a little too strong. Must learn to pace myself.

@mbwhitti way to go!! And under less-than-ideal conditions to boot.

Sub-2:10 is a goal of mine as well but the last time I went for it I ended up with a REALLY bad IT-band strain (after having no ITB problems for over a year) which resulted in zero running for the next 3-4 weeks, so I'm a little afraid to try again. Just need to pick the right race, I guess. :confused3

Thanks @ariel848 This route was super flat for the first 6 miles or so. I was also pacing with what looked to be a running group, I think that's what helped me. My quads are super sore though. Pretty sure the cold made me run faster too :) This was also a small half (a little over 200 people) and I knew only about 7 people were in my age group, so I had it in my head that there "might" be a chance of placing in my age group based on the previous two years results. Apparently all of the fast people showed up this year though.

My quads always get incredibly sore during races - it never happens to me during training runs. :confused3

So I didn't think my legs were too sore after TRX on Saturday, but yesterday I had a 7-miler on my schedule - YOWZA. I wasn't in crazy pain, but I definitely had that dead-legged feeling - thanks TRX rocket squats!! :faint:

If nothing else, TRX definitely taught me that my arms are weak little noodles. My triceps and biceps are still sore this morning.

#CrushedIt!!

Ugh, I feel that. I did BodyPump (again, against my better judgment) - and I can barely reach my arms up above my shoulders. :worried:

Thanks!! Unfortunately my 10K POT is still better than this one. That's why part of me was aiming for under 2:05 as it would have most likely bumped me up a corral. DH has the same POT as me and isn't planning to get a new one, so I guess it's moot since I want to be able to run with him. I think it's more just to prove it to myself that I can do it. I've got another half in 2 weeks, so maybe I can do it then.

Congrats. Definitely a good reason to celebrate!!

I haven't gotten the hang of these multi-quotes tools yet......but I am in a similar position with POT for DL as no matter what corral I get assigned, I will make sure I'm in the same corral as my DW. Had a shot at a half PR last week, making great time but my legs weren't feeling too good so I backed off. Have another half in 3 weeks and a 10k the week after and then I am done until Disney.

Awesome sauce! Congratulations!

I always have to remind myself not to go out too fast. Everyone takes off and you just want to go. :)
