New York City Marathon lottery

I got in!! :yay: No email yet, but my profile status changed from drawing to marathon and there's a pending charge on my credit card!

Congratulations!! I'm still waiting. When did race registrations become so stressful?

I am doing the Chicago marathon this year (I am supposed to have a guaranteed entry) so I will probably end up deferring this to 2016. A big part of me wants to try to run both because I feel myself getting a little tired of long distances and I don't know how I am going to feel in Nov 2016.
You'll have to come back and do a report on Chicago. That's the next one I want to do. Don't know if I can swing it next year, b/c I'm doing Honolulu and funds are going to be diverted there, but might still enter and defer until '17.

Thanks! I was so stressed out too, I knew I was going to run it one way or another, but getting in through the lottery vs. having to raise all that money takes a lot of the worry away. There's still time for you too; they just posted that they're still drawing on their fb page. Good luck!

Nothing for me. I'm trying to convince myself that it's ok and I WILL be back again and another year or so of training will just make me stronger, but it's hard. SIGH!:worried:

For those in, I will see you at Mile 24!!

US drawings are complete. If your credit card has not been charged at this point, you did not get in (guess I'll try again next year).

Looks like all U.S. cards have been charged. Only international runners left in the drawing. Oh well. My first time entering. I'll try to get into Chicago or the Marine Corp Marathon. Congratulations again to everyone who got in today!

Congrats to all who got in! :)

I missed out, but I think it is a blessing in disguise. I really want to do Wine & Dine the weekend after, and then RnR Las Vegas the weekend after that - not sure I could have done all three in three weeks.

I thought I posted yesterday that I got in.. I am going to miss Avenger because of the $$ involved with the trip, but I am so excited.

I was also lucky enough to beat the odds and get in. Here's to everyone's health in eight months!

Have any NJ residents done this race that can provide some more insight on the transportation options? I've reviewed the options we can pick from, but it doesn't say if they also provide transportation back after the race. I'd rather not pay for a hotel room in the city since it is really not necessary for me.

Has anyone driven themselves or been dropped off/picked up by a family member?

No, transportation is only to the start. Family members can drop you off in Staten Island, but it needs to be VERY early due to rode closures and you will walk a bit to get there. Getting out of the city after the race will take some time. If you are trying to head back to NJ, I would allow AT LEAST 2 hours from when you cross the finish until you can get some type of public transportation. Family can not get close to the finish line and we found all the garages near Central Park West were not taking daily parking - just overnight for the hotel guests.

Thanks. I think my Dad and I came up with a plan that will work, but man is this stressful! :scared:
