DIS Unplugged Show Feedback and Suggestions

How about review of cabanas , umbrella chair rentals at blizzard beach/ typhoon lagoon

I'd like to add more more thing on the Video Edition. Why not make use of the monitor more showing more images to help move the conversation along - I just think if your watching the video version it would be nice to see more imagery.

P.S. Dustin for ONE week go clean shaven that would be a shock too lol

I also think Pete talked quite a bit about his non-Disney Alaska cruise. I have no idea when this was, but I remember that he complained about the kids running all over the ship due to lack of proper kids' programming. Not sure if that was a RCCL cruise though.

I believe that was a NCL Alaska cruise.

I think that it's overlooked that the Podcast is not my actual job.

I have duties and responsibilities for which I am paid. The Podcast is not part of that.

It's something we do in addition to our actual jobs.

Imagine trying to keep up with your job/home/life/pet responsibilities and someone suggesting that you go to a hotel 20 or 30 minutes from home for 3 or 4 days and report back.

Some weeks its a bit daunting to try and get everything in place to even record the show on Tuesday.

Spending 5 or 6 hours away from your desk/job in the middle of a work day doesn't make your responsibilities disappear. It pushes them back and doubles them up.

I love rumors and the discussion that they can generate. My 2 cents. I would like a rumor segment each week, maybe after the news? There's a lot of good rumors on the boards.

That would be tough to manage time wise.

Ok here's my opinions and suggestions.

The news shows I think are fine, well set up, have some good discussion, etc.

The segments after the news shows are what's been dragging a bit. I thought the dream park show was a good one better than the bracket shows. The bracket shows just don't seem to be that great. As others have said I would love more john and Kevin dining reviews I think those have always been fantastic. Also for john and Kevin when they are gone on trips I'd love to hear a review of those trips like this past Aulani trip. Other suggestions that I agree with, in the park segments with Kathy and Teresa. One more suggestion would be reviews of some of the other stuff on WDW property such as boat/fishing rentals, fireworks cruises, the water parks, mini golf courses, etc.

I would complain to your boss....

Seriously though, I think the fact that most of you are volunteering your time for our entertainment (marketing for Dreams notwithstanding) is overlooked. I thank you for your efforts for all of these years of doing this. You folks bring a bit of a Disney magic into what can be a dreary life.

Now that I've buttered you up, go make ressies at V&A. Send the bill to Teresa

Hey Everyone! I started a new thread with this info but i wanted you guys to see it here as well. We’ve been going through some of your suggestions. A few of them stood out to us as being able to implement immediately. So, this week’s segment will be a Listener/Viewer voicemail show. You can go to http://www.disunplugged.com/contact/ to leave us a voicemail with your Disney World or DIS Unplugged related questions, comments, and suggestions. The show will air at 1pm on Tuesday as always. I can’t wait to hear from all of you. Thanks for all your suggestions and keep them coming!

Thanks,

Dustin West

Honestly, I think you all shine when you are just having a conversation. Just all sharing opinion. I love to hear you talk about corporate Disney, your love of the parks and how it's evolved over the years, just that freestyle insider perspective. I don't get to go nearly as often as I like and it makes me feel closer and some of your perspectives on the why Disney does what they do is just great. Hearing you all every week is a lift for me.

SO just wanted to add my comments I have been listening and now watching the podcast for 5+ years and can see some really valid comments above both positive and negative. I appreciate how this is not the normal day job for the team and must take up a lot of your personal time and really thank you for doing this as i do love the show and it is part of my weekly ritual.

I have to agree that the last few 2nd segments have seemed to fall a bit flat, i would prefer them to go back to being reviews of disney and the orlando area. I loved John and Kevin's dining reviews and wish we would have more, if they are not able to do them as i apprecitae they have full time jobs away from the podcast, maybe send Jenilynn ( good to get views on eating with dietery restrictions) and corey or any other combination from the team I also think the waterparks have been neglected in recent years and would really like to hear an updated review of them.

I also really enjoy Kathy blogs on the updates around Disney could this not be incoporated into the show?? maybe once a month "an update with Kathy" where she shares the latest photos of minor changes to the parks, ride rehabs etc.

I also want to thank Kevin for the recent book suggestion on the podcast "The devil in the White City" I got an e-copy and really enjoyed it so thank you :)

I think you all do an awesome job! Doing the podcasts in addition to your other jobs at no expense to us is very much appreciated by this girl -:thanks:

The Universal Show: I haven't been in 25 years but you all make me want to go again. The only think I'd like to see more of are pictures to go along with what you are talking about. Last week's show did that and it helped a lot.

The Trip: Love it! I really like that you are experiencing things for the first time. You don't know if it will be good or not which makes it fun.

DIS Unplugged segments: I have no complaints. You work hard, you make me laugh and you have an informational packed show every week. I enjoy the second segment. Nothing wrong with having a fun topic that has nothing to do with planning a vacation (dream park, brackets, whatever). I've heard other podcasts do it as well. And, I would guess that when you have had an extremely busy week or two prior to a podcast show, doing a segment that required a less work to do is welcoming on your part.

Some ideas:

I like the Park Bench series. You also did a video of a boat ride not too long ago. How about getting other boat ride views or walking views like from the Boardwalk area to DHS, French Quarter to Riverside and the Contemporary to MK. I suppose you'd have to speed up the video but they would be nice to see.

People who Skype or sit at the table who aren't regulars -introduce them so we know who they are and why they are there. Sometimes it's obvious and sometimes not.

I like the segments where you have taken a popular thread or Facebook post and discussed it. You not only can share your opinions but you are sharing OURS when you read some back. Maybe some of the moderators could Skype in and share what's popular on their boards. Or, this could be a pretaped segment.

Keep up the good work and thanks for caring enough to ask for input from us. :flower1:

Yep, and I (and I think I speak for the majority of the "we" here as well) always appreciate all you all do for us, because we know it's FOR us! ANd I can TOTALLY sympathize/empathize with your work piling up while you do the "other stuff".

But I def. would love to see more dining reviews in the future when/if you feel like doing them, and have the time. Only because you're so darned GOOD at it! :)

I would love to hear more dining/hotel reviews from kevin and also i would love it if you had a "former castmembers roundtable" with insights from former workers who arent afraid to speak on the behind the scenes aspects of working for disney.

Well, there goes that diet. :rolleyes1

Thanks for all you do!

I know its not your actual job, but do you find that one feeds the other? It would seem that the Podcast is a great marketing arm for your actual job and Dreams Unlimited...with a built in audience for purchasing trips (ABD and others), referrals, etc... I know that I only used Dreams Unlimited due to my "relationship" from the podcast.
