Warning for those about to make ADRs at 180+10 days with DVC reservation

The full span of the first reservation, unfortunately it is only 2 days long.
We are 2 days at poly, then 5 at old key west, then 5 at beach club. Tomorrow I think I will be able to use the old key west reservation to book a few more ADRs.

You should be able to book 180+ 10 on the phone for a split stay. If the Cast Member isn't aware of that, call back.

I've now spoken to 6 cast members and a supervisor. No one could help. It isn't worth it to keep trying. I have given up and will wait for each reservation to start.

I have this concern too, so I asked about it when I was on the phone with tech support. The person said that they are aware of a general problem with ADRs, but they are not aware of this having any effect on fast pass selections at 60 days. I don't really know if that puts my mind at ease, but that is what I was told.
We had the same problems with our April 2015 DVC ADRs but we're able to make our fast passes selections at midnight at the 60 day window without problems. I also voiced this concern to Tech Support the day I had the ADR problem without any further response from Tech Support.

I had a 3 way split ressie back in November. The system wouldn't let me book past one day on the first ressie, do I had to go day by day, but when I hit the second reservation, the system saw the remaining 2, and let me book the remainder of the trip.

Based on that experience, I would say that the system is extremely inconsistent. And I do hate to call - it takes SO LONG!

I had the exact same problem Back in January when I was booking for a July Trip. I was logged in and I could only book for that day. It was very very painful watching all of the Be Our Guest reservations disappear. I had to wait until 7am to call and all the reservations were gone for that day for that venu. I was beyond ticked.

I talked to their "Help Desk" and they logged the issue, but from the looks of it here it had been going on for a while. I asked if I could be notified when it was resolved and they said "they dont do that" I was concerned the next time I go to make reservations the same issue with happen. The said it wont but from reading this thread I am not so sure of that.

It is not cheep to go to Disney any more and eating at the restaurants is even more expensive. Disney really needs to get their act together and fix this issue. Or change the time for online reservations to 7am to coincide with the dining reservations CM's so everyone has the same chance at getting the reservations they want.

The problem was extending to the Fast passes last summer too. It's as though we're told DVC folks are treated the same as any other Disney hotel guest, and then when time comes to be treated equally they tell us to go to the back of the line, over and over.

Hey everyone,

I've been following this thread, and was curious how things would work. WE have a split stay in August/September 6 nights @ BCV and 4 nights @ Poly.

I logged on to the computer at about 6:30 AM and nothing worked. It showed that I could book through the first 7 days of my stay, but not beyond. However, when I tried to make an ADR, it would give me an error for every day beyond the 180 day mark. Even ON the 180 day mark I couldn't book that day, because when I got to the date, the system would glitch and I would go back to the previous screen.

So, I Started calling to get right through at 7 AM. This went a bit sooner. It STILL wouldn't let me book beyond the first 7 days of our stay. The CM I spoke with said that they had the same issue the day before with someone. They talked to a supervisor, and they stated they had recently upgraded the software, and since then they can no longer book on a split stay. THey said I would have to call back in 6 days to book the remaining dates.

However, I was able to book all the dates and times I wanted between 8/28 and 9/3. On 3/7 I can call back and book 9/3-9/7. since I could already book on 9/3 I guess I still get a 1 day advantage. Since we don't have anything tough on our list except maybe BOG lunch - which I want on the 4th but booked for the 3rd as a backup - I don't think we will have any issues.

However, you should expect some continued issues, especially with split stays.

My recent experience with split-stay booking (started booking 2/14):

Like others, I was not able to book past the 180-day mark online. My split stay is a week in the first, 10 days in the second.

When I called, the CM was able to make 10 days worth of ressies on my *first* reservation number.
With the second reservation # they were able to do nothing.

So if you have a split stay and are booking with a CM, you may have a lot more success using your first reservation # until it stops letting the CM book.

On the flip side, our second stay was at AK, and we booked an AK specific thing. We were not able to book this until 180 out from our AK reservation, because the reservation system for that apparently requires a reservation # that is at AK.

Quite honestly I'm fed up with their attitude indicating that this is a new error in the system. If the error has been there > 1 year, which it has, it's a known issue. They need to accept that and upper DVC management needs to put through an order to get it fixed now, not when the programmers eventually have time to get around to it (because something "more important" will always push off fixing it unless they're forced to address the issue.)

I hope I don't come across as an entitled DVC owner. Quite the opposite. But, being told we have to go back to the end of the line for Dining reservations and, in my case, FP+ reservations is not being treated on an equal playing level with hotel guests.

I agree with you 100%. This is their attitude about other things in general. I had a reservation that was completely messed up, days missing, etc when I logged in. I called and called and they assured me it was correct in their internal system, just not the guest system. I was first told that it would take 2 weeks. After 3 weeks I called and was told they needed a total of a month. Then I called again and was told it was escalated. I waited another few weeks and called again. I was then told that it was not priority for IT to resolve it. After 4 months of wondering if I would have issues upon arrival, I had enough!! I wrote in to Member Services and Guest Communications and shared my frustration. Within 24 hours I had a call from a manager and the issue was resolved in less than 1 day after her call.

So my suggestion is that all of us who are DVC Members flood their email with our frustration. Let them know that we do not feel entitled, but as people who are deeply invested in the company, we would like to see some consideration...the same consideration that is given to those who stay on cash. Perhaps if we are heard, this will get moved up the chain and something will be done. Likely? Maybe not. It is worth a shot.

I emailed DVC with my experience. After a week I got a call apologizing and saying they have never heard of this problem before. I then asked why there are detailed complaints of the exact same issue going back a year the lady said she would look into it and quickly got me off the phone. Chat boards and social media make it impossible for companies to lie to their customers about issues such as this, yet Disney still tries it. Considering they just eliminated about 500 IT positions, providing customer service to people that are already members is clearly not a priority. Only e-mail complaints and comments on their social media have a chance to get their attention.

Considering I have never had problems with this type of booking from the first, I am sure there are others.

It is quite possible until a certain percentage complains about the exact same issue, they don't consider it their problem as much as a user issue.

I am pleased with how well it works, so there are probably many others.

THANK YOU!!! I had to call 3 times this morning--first two CMs couldn't book anything on the last half of my split stay. On the third call, I had come to this thread and read this suggestion, and was able to book BOG lunch on our second half.

Plus--I called Victoria and Albert's and suggested the CM try using my first reservation number (she asked for my second reservation but it wasn't in the 180 days). I was able to book the Chef's Table for our last night!! I owe this to you--I think it would be very hard to get this reservation at 180 days without the +10. So thank you!!! DD22's college graduation dinner will be so amazing and this is a bucket list thing for me. :D

I'm happy to hear the system does work for someone. As a developer I have my suspicions about the problems going on being related to modified and/or linked DVC reservations, and the system simply not cascading through the changes. The error could be on the side of the ADR system, or on the side of DVC system. Probably a little of both. It's one of those mysterious issues no one except coders who love puzzles will want to get into so either the person it's assigned to has no clue what to do, or if it's out in a system for others to grab and resolve it's obviously not "an easy one" and gets passed by.

I can't call and report an issue until I get to my FP+ reservation window. ADRs are open for the whole trip now, so they have nothing to debug using my account. Anyone with the issue - call and report it! Make sure your CM passes along the info to open a bug report.

Ugh. Called back to add one ADR, and it didn't work. I think I was able to book BOG because it's our switching day (and I bet previous CMs tried to book it on the second stay). So, actually, putting it on the first reservation didn't work for me except at V&A's. Not worried about our last ADR since we're flexible, but just UGH.

I don't want to be a party pooper here but I have never experienced this with making my ADR's on my DVC reservation. I had 2 stays last year August and November, and both times I had no issues. Could it quite possibly be a new issue? I don't book ADR's for another 2 months so if it is an issue hopefully it gets resolved by then.

Curious: When you booked your stays, both times, did you add on a day to the front or end? Did you have Split stays? (I think modifying the reservation is what causes the issue.)

I didn't modify my reservation and I had the 180 + 10 problem with BOTH my cash stay reservation at the poly and my point stay at the BWV. Very frustrating. CM on the phone said, we've never heard of this problem".

Just made my ADR+10 this morning with no problems. I have a DVC reservation - linked it to MDE yesterday. The only problem I didn't get BOG until my last day. Due to snow traffic didn't get to the computer until 8:30am.
