Warning for those about to make ADRs at 180+10 days with DVC reservation

Curious: When you booked your stays, both times, did you add on a day to the front or end? Did you have Split stays? (I think modifying the reservation is what causes the issue.)

In August the trip was booked 7 months out in January and ADRs were booked in February, no split stay or additions. The November trip was last minute trip and was a split stay but I called MS and had them linked to one another and the ADR's were made in September/October for a November trip I still had no issues at all with ADR's or FP's

We have never had a problem either and have added on. We don't do Split Stays.

I added a day to the front of my reservation, so now it's 10 days/9 nights. My window opens on Saturday. If I look at making dining reservations today (just out of curiosity) I can't make reservations past September 1st. Does this mean when I go to make my bookings on Saturday that I'll be one of the ones only able to make reservations 180 days out, not 180+10? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to know what to expect. The only ADR I'm worried about getting is for V&As.

lsmo-- Since you can't make reservations until Saturday, I don't think being unable to go beyond Sept 1st means anything. If it's not working online on Saturday, call in.

About V&A--maybe you can book online, but if not, when I called Disney Dining they were unable to make reservations there. I called them directly, but they opened at 9 instead of 7 (don't want to say they do that every day--check, so you don't call in too late). They didn't appear to have a phone queue--I got an answering machine asking to leave a message, which I did. But then I thought that depending on them to call me back was an excellent way to not get a table, so I psycho called for 15-20 minutes till I got through. I think they really just have a person or 2 taking phone calls in the morning, or that's how it seemed to me. Good luck.

Also, what the heck does 5 months, 4 weeks and 2 days mean on your ticker? Isn't that 6 months and 2 days, lol?

When I did mine (and I could see all of my dates, I just couldn't get the online system to book anything) I used Chrome, Explorer, Safari and the phone app. Not one of them worked.

I have Windows 7 and I use Google Chrome. I don't use my tablet or phone.

Also I never have to manually link my reservations. After I book my DVC; stay within minutes it shows up in my MDE account.

I go to Disneyworld.com sign into my MDE account, go to Things To Do, then Dining<Make Reservations. Then I find the restaurant I want and go to that Restaurant's page. I book from the restaurant page.

I have never had problems with booking dining at 180+10.

It's not just you, the site is screwy!

I posted last Sunday how we had a split stay booked, and I couldn't get the computer booking to work at all, and when I called, they wouldn't let me book past the end of my first booking.

So, this morning I was up early to try again, as the 2nd half of our split stay is 180 days away. Well, I was able to get what I wanted on-line, eventually. It seemed to acknowledge the 180 mark and let me book through the end of my stay. However, I was having the same problems as Ismo. I put in a date, and it would tell me to "try again later" or that it couldn't give me the dates. I ended up putting in an earlier (<180 days) date first, and then research on the 180+ dates, and that seemed to work.

So - I think what is going on with the current system is that it USED to be you could book 180+10 regardless of how many nights you had booked. (i.e. you could book one night but then make 10 days of ADRs from that point forward. However, now it doesn't let you book beyond your length of stay. That combined with the fact it doesn't look at two reservations as continuous seems to be the problem. (The former change is probably appropriate, preventing people from taking advantge of the pre-booking window if they are not actually on-site. I would hope they would eventually fix the second one though.)

Beyond that, the system seems extremely glitchy. I used both Windows 7 and Chrome and Windows 8 and IE and found the same issues, so I think the issue is with the Disney site.

1> Is the +10 only for DVC members, or is that generally available (or available for some other guests)? I know this may be a dumb question, but would love a direct answer. IF this is only for DVC members, can I make reservations only for DVC members, or other people in our party?
2> If a single reservation runs (say) 1/1 - 1/7, can "all" days be booked at start of 180+10, or do we need to log into the system "each consecutive" day from the 180+10 to make reservations for following days?

I just passed ROFR for DVC (first timer) and am excited about it, so just trying to learn the ropes of making most efficient use of my membership.

180+10 means that if you have a on-site resort reservation (DVC or not) that when you are 180 days out from the FIRST day of your trip, you can then book ADRs for Days 1 through 10 of your trip (assuming your trip is 10 days long). This includes all the people in your party. (I am not sure if you can book parties larger than your group, but I think you can do that as well.)

Someone that does NOT have an on-site room booked (DVC or not) could call on March 1st and book August 28th, but NOT beyond.

In my case, that meant on March 1st I could book dining reservations for August 28th (180 days from 3/1) through September 3rd (186 days from 3/1) because that was the span of my reservation.

If I was staying LONGER than 10 days on one reservation (say 14 days through September 10th), then I would only be able to book through the first 10 days on 3/1. I would have to wait until 3/2 to book the 11th day, 3/3 to book the 12th day...etc.

Monday was my 180+10 for my Sept 5th check-in. I was able to book 180+10 on the website using the previous instructions of going through the My Disney Experience link. Was even able to make a BOG Dinner ressie for 11 @ 4:20 on 9/13.

I just finished our 180+10 reservations for our Sept. 8th check-in about 15 minutes ago. I did it all on the website. I was able to book all 11 days of our trip! I hope it works for everyone.

Got up at 5:59am and was able to make my 180+10 with no problems at all and got everything we wanted including dinner at BOG. So I'm still curious as to why others are having issues? Aside from split stays does everyone have the same log in between DVCmember and MY Disney experience? Could that be he issue?

The issue with me, my theory, is that when I make a reservation I always go back in and add or delete a day (not walking, just adjusting for vacation days and flights) or cancelling part to split the stay with another location when that 7 month window opens. A CM who knows how to work the system well will make sure all reservations are properly connected with the same number and not just leave them all showing up as separate reservations. Many CMs believe that because a reservation of 7 days, onto which you add a day is showing up all under the same stay it is all keyed off of the same number. The behavior of the system indicates there is something else in there used as the key. In fact we often see this in the emails which will show one ID, while the systems show another. In recent years and stays I found eventually someone will go in and manually modify them into one number, but by then the dining and fast pass systems have recorded the numbers as existing as separate stays, and it takes an act of God to get it fixed. :/ There are two ways to fix this both of which need to be improved: 1) training; 2) propagate the reservation information through to all systems on a weekly process. (This would also allow them to zap those cancelled reservation magic bands which are an issue elsewhere.)

That's my belief for my cases. Not sure what happens with those who have it occur with no adjustments made. Or perhaps they forget they made an adjustment.

My arrival day is the 5th also. When I went in to book The days of our stay were highlighted in blue on the search calendar like they usually are, but it would only let me book the first day. I had to call in to get the other one.

My 180 day was Monday and I was only able to book an ADR for our first day. I tried IE, my phone, and my tablet and was not successful on any of them. Ended up calling and booking that way. BTW I did try going in through MDE and that did not work either.

I am assuming all who are experiencing this issue are also mailing member satisfaction? That may be the only way to escalate this and get attention from the people who can actually get this taken care of.
