RANT: its really not worth getting family members involved in this hobby. My grandma thought she would be able to cover 6 flights on Southwest by signing up for the CSP and Freedom card. She was able to book everyone except 4 people's one leg trip. She is now upset. Like well you got 8 one way flights for free basically. like yeah you still need to pay for 4 other one way flights, but thats not bad.
8 one way flights for free, is surely better than paying for them!!!

Flight prices make zero sense to me. Looking at prices for Pit to Sydney for DD and it is $917 connecting in San Francisco. I know a lot of people talk about positioning flights so I looked at San Francisco to Sydney and it is $935 for the same flight! lol So I am saving $18 by flying a whole other segment.

For those of you with the Amex Biz Plat, I posted a neat trick on the DISchurners News & Discussion thread to "bank" your semi-annual, use it or lose it $100 Dell credit for later use.

For personal Plat cardmembers, I also posted in more detail the trick @Albort mentioned a few days ago a bit further down in the News & Discussion thread to bank your monthly Uber credits.

Quick question on the Daily Getaways - I am going to try to get some Marriott GC today. Does a link to buy just show up at 1:00, or do I need to refresh the page? Never bought from Daily Getaways before, I'm sure they go fast, any tips would be welcome.

Oh well, no luck getting in quick enough. :(

You'll need to refresh. I'd start refreshing a minute before probably.

No southwest flights for me this morning, now to wait for the next release, and keep watching united for possible January flights.
For those unable to book Southwest-lack of availability or high price keep checking back, for many flights they will release more availability and prices can drop.

For those who were able to book Southwest-check your flights they could drop in price, if you booked on points it is super easy to rebook and save, or if cash to get a credit.

So to your general question whether you need to decide right now whether you want to fly to Japan on JAL or ANA, you don't. If you're willing to apply for business credit cards with your nascent eBay business, you can start working on cards that can earn you points currencies good towards either JAL or ANA and still maintain your under 5/24 status to stretch out the number of cards you can get from Chase and other issuers.

I hope this helps! I'm sure there will be more replies coming to help! Take a moment to digest it all and follow up with any questions or details that might help us help you more.

When you're ready to apply, we can help walk you through it if you still need it. If and when you do apply for any new cards, and you don't have a "support" link for that particular card, it would really help give back to the community if you first check the DISchurners support links pages to see if you can find an application link for the card you want. It only takes a few seconds, but when you apply through a fellow DISchurner's link, you show that their help, advice, shared experiences, and contributions are appreciated.

Good luck!
:worship:
This is awesome!! Bookmarked (yay to new features!) & will definitely be referenced often.

AmEx confuses me. Not that I would ever do this, but I was looking at the AmEx Bonvoy plain-Jane personal card 100k offer (don't get excited! this is the one where you spend in increments of 25k and they'll give you 25k bonus points up to 100k.) because they emailed me about it a few weeks ago and incessantly remind me about it every time I check that account now. I recalled that the offer was supposed to be exclusive to cardholders before they made the discontinued announcement so since I got mine after that I wasn't expecting it. Since I only got the email a couple weeks ago I thought they expanded it or made a similar offer to the rest of us just to get some spend going on them. But I'm the type to register for anything, however unlikely, because you just never know what'll happen and so I took a look at the terms and it states:

"You are not eligible to register for this offer if your Card Account was opened after January 24, 2019. This is an exclusive offer only for Marriott BonvoyTM American Express® Card Members who receive this email and is not transferable."

Well which is it AmEx? I'm not eligible because I opened my card after 1/24? Or I am eligible because you sent me the email? :rolleyes2

However, I just found out that my well water is unsafe to drink and it'll be at least 2.5K, probably more, to fix my filtration system.
I sympathize with this. We (well ILs) found out our well was cracked two summers ago. It was a big pain, they put a case around it and had to put in a big filtration system :sad2:

I have been at this for awhile now, but still confused as to why everyone wants to be first on the SW release? Does it really make that big of a difference in price? This comes from the person who still has no flights for July vacation and every time I look I am just like never mind they are too pricey.

It can make a huge difference. I woke up at 7 am and thought I'd check prices to Maui over New Years for my family. I was on my iPad which was logged into my RR account. Prices were decent--mid $500 RT for direct ($294 and $224, I believe respectively). I realized that I wanted to be in my husband's account to use his miles to book my ticket since the plan was to change my son from his companion to me, and it would be easier to return the miles to the account if I did cash for the three and miles for me. But I panicked when I searched for the flights on my laptop, as all cheap flights were suddenly gone. Fortunately, I hadn't closed my iPad and I was able to still purchase those three tickets and add my son via the companion pass for the cheaper price. I guess we will wait until after this trip to switch me to my husband's companion. The WGW prices were literally gone in less than 5 minutes.

I was just poking around on the Hotel Republic (Marriott property in San Diego) site, after reading someone's review in a TR. Put in a weekend in January - yes that should be low season, but still it's a Category 6 so they want 100k points for a weekend when cash rates are $180/night before taxes. Talk about #bonvoyed.

Also this hotel is ringing a bell, @Albort have you stayed or talked about it in the past?

Can I close a PNC account online? I can't find a way to send a message them but I feel like someone said they sent a message to close.
I did I sent a message thru their site, and then an email to verify

I'm not sure about this exact scenario with the Plats (my kids have AU Plats so that's how we get 4 in to Centurion), but just wanted to say that I have used two of my different PP memberships (one from Plat, one from CSR) to get the 4 of us into PP lounges multiple times.

Good to know, thanks! Probably what I was remembering was reading that using 2 PPs doesn't work at restaurants.

At SFO, does the Centurion or Yankee Pier have better food?

Any tips for banking the AmEx Gold grubhub/cheesecake factory/etc. credit? It always seems to be the end of the month and I can't decide whether I want the bad Mexican takeout through grubhub or another $10 CF GC . . .
