What Will You NOT Eat?

I pretty much will not eat any kind of seafood (cooked/raw/saltwater/freshwater).
Organ meats
Beets... if I knew what dirt really tasted like, I would think that would be it.
Turnips
Hotdogs
Bologna

I am sure there is more, but that is what I can think of right now.

Very surprised by people who say they won't eat any fruits or vegetables. How do you maintain a balanced diet/get vital nutrients?

I am one of those people that don't eat vegetables (or many fruits). I honestly don't think I have a very balanced diet. However, I have a very strong gag reflux & just can't get them down. I wish I could, but I can't. A tiny piece of lettuce hidden in a sandwich totally makes me gag. I'm in my forties and at this point very healthy. Totally regular, maintain a healthy weight, and am almost never sick. Haven't even had so much as a cold in years.

A lot of the same things others are listing.

But ultimately, I won't eat anything I don't feel like having. Too many food battles with my mom as a kid. Liver and onions? Everyone has to eat it. Oyster stew on Christmas Eve? How can you ruin a perfectly good kid holiday like that? But at her house, everyone ate what she made or they didn't eat. Sometimes it was saved in the fridge and you had to eat it later.

Decades later I still remember the smell of liver and onions cooking. There was nowhere to hide from it.

Are we related? LOL My mom was the same way, you ate what she served or else. I once had to eat COLD pea soup for breakfast. I still call it the pea soup popsicle, the soup was congealed around the spoon. Amazingly I really like pea soup.

There are few foods I won't eat but there are a few.

I cannot eat Okra. It is a slimy, disgusting vegie.
Not to fond of seafood but I do like shrimp.
I will not eat GOAT!!! My priest is from Uganda and every covered dish his wife wants to serve goat.
Also don't like game animals like venison, rabbit, bear, snake, etc. My brother hunts and I went to a dinner at his hunt club. I was so thankful they had plain vegetables.

I won't eat most meat. Occasionally some chicken but thats about it. I like fish and veggies!

Eggs. They're ok as a binder for baked goods, but just eggs, like fried or scrambled...yuck

Shrimp. Ocean roaches, no thanks.

Any type of melon

Ridiculous things that aren't meant to be eaten like bugs and coffee beans that have been pooped out.

Agreed.

I don't even understand why they still PRODUCE red "delicious" (anything but) apples. Get rid of that crap! I buy gala/fuji/envy apples. The only time I'll eat a red delicious if I am staying at a hotel with a bad continental breakfast and it's the only fruit they have.

So funny! We actually buy both here because the guinea pig loves red delicious apples as a treat (just those) - but I agree with you on gala, Fuji, etc., so I buy the others for myself.

Lamb or veal. Maybe it makes me a hypocrite since I do eat meat, but so be it. I can't bring myself to eat baby animals.

Same here. (Though I did have lamb once, in a rice dish at a wake. - I didn't have the heart to refuse under the circumstances.) I draw the line at animals kept as pets, too - bunnies, etc.

I cannot eat Okra. It is a slimy, disgusting vegie.

Cooked like I normally cook veggies, I totally agree! I cannot make it at home...but I've had it fried at a restaurant in the South, and loved it!

The rest of my list (that I can think of at the moment):
raw fish
rare hamburgers
organ meats
"dare foods" - things like fried crickets, live squiggly things, etc.

Liver or any similar organ meat
cottage cheese
figs & dates - they make me gag
butternut squash - it's a texture thing
raw shellfish
cauliflower
raw meat

I'm vegan so I don't eat anything that comes from an animal (no meat, fish, eggs, dairy, honey, etc.) I also don't like avocado, which is a shame because it's in a lot of vegan dishes.

sushi - 'no' raw fish, and no 'mock' type - just mushy tasting to me!
escargot
organ meats, liver, etc.
oysters
rare steaks - must be medium
seared tuna
calamari

Other than this list, love most any food.

My mom didn't make us eat what was on the plate, but she sure as hell wasn't be a short-order cook. We could either go hungry or make a PB&J. Her exception to this was when it came to what other people cooked, especially Grandpa. When Grandpa made vegetable soup, by God we were going to his house and by God I was going to eat it whether I liked it or not.

To this day I can't stand vegetable soup.

You must be Episcopalian! I came from a city where probably 60% of the Christians were Catholic. Not a lot of married priests in my experience, lol.

See, to me, Balut is a Dare Food. That is, food you only eat on a dare. Same category as Hakkarl, Surstrommig, etc.
Never heard of any of this before, and it's extremely unlikely I'll ever be confronted with them, but let's go ahead and add them to my "will not eat" list just in case! :scared:

 I absolutely did not know vegans didn't eat honey. Never really thought it through, I guess.
