If you know what conference it is you can Google it and there will be a date for the room block. I have seen different times that they hold the room so it doesn't appear to be a standard number, maybe it's something the conference negotiates? I can tell you that for a conference you can cancel up to 5 days before arrival
The conference is called Scaling New Heights. I can't find a date for the room block. The only one I could find was for 2015 when the conference was at the end of June, the block ended in May. Bummer. I will have to keep looking. Thanks for the advice.

So, for all your points, Preferred room is definitely what you want. Do call back and see what they say. I don't know anything about conference rates or how they show up, but if you are able to link the reservation to your My Disney Experience account, it should tell you the room type. .[/QUOTE
Thank you! I hadn't even thought about it. I am going to call back. The reason I boned over the phone is that I called about doing 2 separate reservations, given its part work and part personal, and had them merged but they there is no guarantee I wouldn't have to change rooms

I don't blame you, it is such a hassle. I hope you end up getting a good agent and it works out!

2. Since I an going to a conference I want to be close to the conference center because I will need to go back to my room and pump multiple times a day.

I'm heading to a conference at CSR this week. I called to request Preferred after booking and the CM told me they put the conference attendees near the conference center. They don't get booked at the other buildings. I took it with a grain of salt... But, I can say that I attended the same conference two years ago and didn't hear of anyone that wasn't booked in Casitas or 9 A or B.

ETA, it couldn't hurt to call and have them note you'll need to return to your room frequently for medical reasons.

out of curiousity is it hard to get connecting rooms?

That's really hard to answer. Whether you get a connecting room request granted is dependent on 2 things; occupancy and how many others requested them. Nobody outside WDW will know those 2 details. However, if you make connecting rooms your only request will significantly up your chances.

well it turns out my adult son said he'd rather I book him and his gf at a Motel 6 for themselves, then share a room with his sister and her bf. Maybe I'll do just that. :scratchin:scratchin:scratchin:rotfl:

I'm actually hoping for a good passholder discount and then I'll book 3 rooms at CSR and I'll ask that they NOT be connecting. hahaha

FYI thanks to those that helped me. I was able to get my room changed to preferred and there was no price change since standard and preferred were the same for the conference

Very curious what "business deluxe" means. Some kind of pseudo category between moderate and deluxe?

Right?
Rooms still same size, so will the reno truly be an upgrade inside?
Do you think similar to BC before where there will be lounges throughout?
Construction next to main up, upgrade amenities or more convention space?
Expansion of amenities?

Very interesting to follow for sure.

CSR, my favorite moderate ... or was.
All the rumblings about this gondola skipping over the CBR villages .... maybe that whole resort is gonna be history in future.
DVC and Convention space ... that is where the big bucks are at I guess.

A 15 story business deluxe tower with 583 rooms to be constructed. Includes concierge level, Presidential and VIP suites, 60% of the rooms fireworks view of DHS, an island in the middle of Lago Dorado with a bar/restaurant and a series of bridges. A glass roof top restaurant too. The old lobby will become a seating area. The new lobby will be in the tower.

Disney -

Today, we are thrilled to share with you that changes are on the horizon at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort over the next two years and let me tell you, there is a lot to be excited about!

The expansion at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will include a new 15-story tower that will add 500 rooms, featuring suites and concierge level services. The resort will also refurbish its current resort rooms and transform its landscape with floating gardens and an island oasis that connects the resort through a series of bridges.

The new tower overlooking Lago Dorado, the resort’s centerpiece lake, will allow guests to experience something truly unique, rooftop dining with panoramic views of popular nighttime fireworks from nearby Disney theme parks.

Making our return to CSR Easter weekend. Very excited. CSR was our go-to until 2012, when we decided to change things up.

Anything big we should know or is it pretty much the same?

This all sounds fantastic....but I wonder what this will do to the price point?

With this news, I'm a little nervous about my upcoming stay in December. It would be my first time staying here, and probably my last if this place is going to become Deluxe. I normally stay at Pop Century - I just can't afford those kinds of prices! I kind of feel like this place is going to be a construction zone, and I wonder if I should get out now before it's too late. However, I am staying with the free dining plan. I'm not even sure I could transfer somewhere else and still have the free dining plan at this point. What do you all think I should do? I'm so unsure...

My stay is sooner than yours (Easter) and I'm worried as well. I was checking rates for other places earlier. This would be our first stay as well and I was really looking forward to it, but I keep getting more and more nervous!
