ABCs of a Nursing School Grad Trip + FL Keys Mini Report;D is for: Dang! Last Chapter of this TR...

<shiver> Horrible.
The bodies of the sacrificial beasts hung above their heads. Their distended bellies waiting to be disembowelled by the sticks wielding horde below. Suddenly, a ghastly sound as one of the victim's bowels were torn asunder. I gasped as the people below reveled in the rain of the creatures internal workings as they rained upon their heads.

Awful. Just awful.

Not just any fiesta, but one that had been planned for quite a while

I know! You must've been so excited!

and certainly one I was looking forward to a lot!

I can't even imagine.

After a pretty full day at MK (nope haven’t written about that yet)

So... maybe it didn't happen, then. How are we to know?

it was time to find my DISBuddies, Alison and Fran

Yay!

and to meet (back up) with Marv and Pat, who we’d actually already spent most of the day with.

Again... This could be all lies...

*The Ditch (n): 1. a narrow channel dug in the ground, typically used for drainage alongside a road or the edge of a field. 2. A festive tequila bar located in Disney’s Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT- difficult to climb out of once you’ve fallen in.

 Different types of drainage though.

I enjoyed it for the first time on my last trip in 2010 when I had hands down the BEST margarita I’ve ever had. Ever. Our server came to the table and at length discussed tequila with us, which tequila would be the best for the drink I’d ordered, (the Blood Orange) and how it was made etc… It was an amazing experience!

Ohhh.... that does sound good. Want.

The bar itself was pretty quiet, and my friend and I had closed the place down. Just one of those unique and more than averagely memorable Disney moments.

Aw. Nice. Those moments are wonderful.

Five friends, most of whom had never met, decided to hang out for an evening.

Sounds like fun to me!

(I apologize that this is repeat of Alison’s chapter. The only difference is my pictures, and even then, they’re pretty much identical.)

That's okay. I really don't mind hearing it again from another perspective.

Yeah, there’s a lot of bars to hang out in EPCOT, but I really wanted this one!

Er... ask me how many Disney bars I've been in....

One.

(I wish I could figure out how to type foreign characters on my keyboard. That’s twice I’ve needed an 'enne'- you know, the ‘n’ with the little wavy doohickey over it.)

You mean this one?

ñ

It's alt+0241.

Go to your character map in accessories/system tools.

The doohickey is a tilde... but I like your word for it better.

I made sure to elbow the Senorita on my way in, since she had the audacity to tell me I’d have to wait 45 minutes to enjoy my own bar. Pffftttt... move over Toots, I’m in charge here!

:lmao: Way to go Liesa!!

(How much had you had to drink so far?)

Ok, ok, not really,

Darn. I liked that story.

I politely asked if I could just take a look, and guised it as just wanting to check it out as if it was my first time there. She bought it (silly, naive Senorita) and said, “OH sure!”

The fool!!!!! Muahaha! The young have no idea how devious we can be.

Apparently, I missed my calling; instead of studying Nursing, I should have become a hostess.

I suspect it pays less.... but you do get to work at Disney.

Now it was time to get down to business! I’m not normally a big tequila fan, but good tequila? Now, that’s a whole different ballgame. I was willing to splurge here, because where else can you find about 200 bottles of tequila all in one place?

I wouldn't know a good tequila if you spit it in my eye.

Or if I just drank it. Whichever.

"Trio Combo
Tortilla chips served with salsa, queso, and guacamole. Looks just like the Mexican Flag!"

The guac I can take or leave... leave. Not a fan. Know how to make it though, and have. Lots.
But the rest? Yum.

I could have gone swimming in the queso and been happy for a very long time.

Me too! That stuff's like crack!

Fran treated the table to this, and again, THANK YOU, Fran, for that tasty snack to help keep things from getting too out of control. It helped… a little. ;)

 Only a little? From the photo you posted.... possibly not much!

(Yes, this was taken before one sip- which goes to show my awesome and amazing photography skills )

I don’t know a lot about tequila honestly.

Me neither.

I know that it’s made from agave

Whelp! Looks like you knew more than me!

and there’s a hilarious tongue and cheek country song about what happens when Joe Nichol’s girlfriend drinks it,

Never heard it or heard of it.
But checked out the lyrics. Funny!

I asked Alison what the difference was between Mezcal and Tequila since they’ve done some tequila tasting events in the past, and she came pretty close to the definition I found just now:

“Tequila is technically a mezcal, however, there are differences in production technique and in the types of agave used. Tequila is made from a single type of agave plant – the agave tequilana (blue agave) – and can only be produced in the state of Jalisco and in small parts of four other states.”

I learnded something.

If you need a visual presentation because words become hard to understand as you sip:

Had no idea they looked like that. And they're blue!

So basically, like the difference between “Champagne” and “Sparkling Wine”.

This I understand.

When it came, it was time to do the whole salt on the hand, take a sip (no I didn’t chug, I’m a lady), and a lick the lime (oops, there went the ladylike),

 This is something that I've never done.

It took me about 4 passes to enjoy the whole shot. I really, really liked this liquor. It was smooth; no burning like the fires from Hell as it went down at all. Certainly, not as nice as an aged (and more expensive) anejo, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Interesting. You'll have to coach me.

I can’t speak for the other 4, but I truly enjoyed every minute of our time together!

I'm betting they enjoyed it just as much.

We made sure the tables around us enjoyed our time together too. LOL! Apparently, our merry-making was amply evident; I glanced over to the next table (a party of 3) and noticed them shooting glances over at us and smirking.

Meh. If you can't have fun, stay home.

Whether it was disapproval or envy was irrelevant.

Exactly.

Early on:

What a nice, well behaved group of sensible folks.

A bit later in:

Orrrr....... not.

I ordered up a Mint-Pineapple Marg that was scrumptiously delicious.

mmm... sounds good.

But as you’ll learn over time, I needn’t have worried. I’d had others already that satisfied my curiosity and whetted my whistle.

 Are you sure you remember this trip?

(Sorry, picture taking had sort of ceased by then)

:rolleyes1

No, I wasn’t wasted, tipsy a bit, yeah, but I could walk a straight line and even went to ride a whole bunch of rides at MK until we closed that park down too.

But surely not Tea Cups. Surely not.

You'll die when you hear what ridiculous shenanigans tequila conjured up for a 1:00 AM MK tour. So stay tuned for that....

Can't wait!!

So, all in all, a magical Fiesta that can only be served up in The Ditch. I fell in, and somehow also managed to crawl back out.

Congratulations on your extraction!

Well, yeah. It's what you can use to motivate the people who are rude enough to stand in front of you during Wishes to move over.

 That would indeed do it.

I'd love to go to Vietnam. And Cambodia.

Interesting choices. Heard it's brutally hot, though.

:rotfl2:
I have to admit that I've never been to La Cava. I've never had many margaritas either, so perhaps that's why. I think the first time I had one was years ago in Houston, but I think it was a frozen one and probably loaded with sugar, so not really authentic. I remember trying a couple non-frozen ones at bars down there after and I liked them. But every time I've tried one back home (in the north, you know) I didn't really enjoy it. Maybe its something done best in the south? Anyway, maybe one day I'll try La Cava. I do appreciate the menu choices.

Any drink should be done with excellent ingredients, but margs especially so. IMHO, frozen ones are terrible. Sugar, ice and not a whole lotta much else. Not worth it.

Refardless of whether you even order a drink or not, it's a fun place to hang out and grab an appetizer.

Nice evening, grest company and goid drinks. What could be better? I'm glad your evening turned out as fun as you hoped it would be!

TBH, not much else! It was a great way to break away from the hurried pace of Disney and enjoy good friends.

I have yet to read about a DISer having a bad experience at the Ditch. That seems to be the place to go for meetups while in Epcot! Glad you had a great time, and I highly enjoyed the before and after shots you posted. Very clear you all were having a fun time.
As someone who has partaken in MK fun with booze in their system, I'm very curious to see what antics you got into after the Ditch. :scratchin:rotfl:

Before going, I too had only read great things. All of which ended up being accurate. The food is yummy, and the atmosphere top notch for a casual meet up. I'd go back again in a heartbeat.

I think you guys are gonna die laughing at what I was willing to endure later on....

Party on that Fiesta day! Here in the UK there is a small Ford car called Fiesta don't know if its in the US too!

200 bottles of Tequila what! Oh my! That is one lock in you could have and not get up from anytime soon. I am pleased you had such a great time with the lovely people. Great photos.

I am sure tables in wonderland paid for itself that night!

Actually yes, we do have the Ford Fiesta as well. I had no idea they were exported to Europe!

Thanks! It was a fabulous time with those lovely people. I hope that we can meet again sometime soon!

I don't know if the others used their TIW discounts or not; sadly I don't have one. :(

So... maybe it didn't happen, then. How are we to know?

Well, you have a point... you'll have to wait and see.

Again... This could be all lies...

Cuz, I'm such a liar. ;)

That's okay. I really don't mind hearing it again from another perspective.

Good, as that's exactly what you got!

Er... ask me how many Disney bars I've been in....

One.

And which one was it?

You mean this one?

ñ

It's alt+0241.

Go to your character map in accessories/system tools.

The doohickey is a tilde... but I like your word for it better.

Thanks, that makes it so much easier! I use the © (alt+0169) all the time for photography, and should have figured it was as easy as that. Just didn't know where to go to find the list.

:lmao: Way to go Liesa!!

(How much had you had to drink so far?)

None. Wait... that's a lie. I'd have to go back and check my list. I think I had a micro taste from F&W???

The fool!!!!! Muahaha! The young have no idea how devious we can be.

So TRUE! #lifelessons

I suspect it pays less.... but you do get to work at Disney.

WAIT! You knew I actually WAS a hostess at the Blue Bayou at DLR in college, right? RIGHT!?

I wouldn't know a good tequila if you spit it in my eye.

The best tequilas are for sipping. The blanco and resposados are for mixing because they are as smooth on their own. I do think you'd be able to tell the difference side by side.

 Only a little? From the photo you posted.... possibly not much!

HEY! Just friends laughing at funny stuff!

Had no idea they looked like that. And they're blue!

Yes, they are actually called blue agave and are very much blue. We had one in our front yard in California for years.

 This is something that I've never done.

Time to try it!

Interesting. You'll have to coach me.

Deal!

Meh. If you can't have fun, stay home.

BINGO!!!!!

Orrrr....... not.

But you gotta love those smiles!

 Are you sure you remember this trip?

Every single minute...

that was written down on my trip notes.

Well, you have a point... you'll have to wait and see.

I'll gladly wait and see!

Cuz, I'm such a liar. ;)

 I was going to say "you're a naughty nurse", but that brings up a whole other connotation!

And which one was it?

Can't tell you. Not there in my TR yet!

Thanks, that makes it so much easier! I use the © (alt+0169) all the time for photography, and should have figured it was as easy as that. Just didn't know where to go to find the list.

I used to use it. Then found out it wasn't necessary so stopped.

None. Wait... that's a lie. I'd have to go back and check my list. I think I had a micro taste from F&W???

That's it? So you're not a mean drunk you're a mean sober????

Kidding! I know you didn't really say that to the hostess.

So TRUE! #lifelessons

::yes::

WAIT! You knew I actually WAS a hostess at the Blue Bayou at DLR in college, right? RIGHT!?

OMG! I do remember you saying something about that! I'm such a dolt.
I blame feeble mindedness.

The best tequilas are for sipping. The blanco and resposados are for mixing because they are as smooth on their own. I do think you'd be able to tell the difference side by side.

I dunno. I have a very unrefined palate when it comes to alcohol.

HEY! Just friends laughing at funny stuff!

Uh huh. Do you remember one funny thing from that night? Hmmmmm???

Yes, they are actually called blue agave and are very much blue. We had one in our front yard in California for years.

Liesa's tequila manufacturing and distillery.

Time to try it!

Past time, I suspect.

:goodvibes

But you gotta love those smiles!

I do! You guys are obviously having a blast.

Every single minute...

that was written down on my trip notes.

:rotfl:

So...um...hello! Can't promise how long/often I'll be around, but I can resist the siren song of your trip reportage no longer! To be honest, knowing I have a trip on the horizon, makes being on the Dis a whole lot less painful.

I fully support still calling Disney Springs DTD. Because I'm stubborn too. I'm glad you made it through your evening without any indecent exposure issues. Dancing was a bold move on your part.

Let's see... E was next... that's right, EE. 3 rides at RD??? That's doing it right! And some nice pictures to boot.

If only I could have joined the Fiesta there. La Cava, or the Ditch, is my favorite bar in EPCOT. While I've never had the opportunity to just hang out in there for a while, I can't resist getting a drink from there. It looks like you all had a great time together!

Pooh, you were sounding like such a bad a$$!

We were seated in 5 more minutes.

Sweet! Still think youre a bad a$$

So, all in all, a magical Fiesta that can only be served up in The Ditch.

Looks like a great time! So cool that you can meet old friends and new people and have a great time.

I NEED to try that avacado margarita! I've had it on my list the last two trips but still haven't managed to get one. Did you happen to notice if it's ok to take kids in there? I'd love to take a margarita break this upcoming trip and that guacamole looks amazing!

I used to use it. Then found out it wasn't necessary so stopped.

I've had 2 photos re-posted (stolen, without photo credit) on FB, and I won't let it happen again without a watermark. Although, I've been REALLY bad about it lately. It's that extra step in Picassa... I'm sure there is a way to embed it in every pic when saved, but I have to figure that out.

I dunno. I have a very unrefined palate when it comes to alcohol.

You've never tried them side by side, then. There really is a big difference. Life is just way to short for bottom shelf anything anymore.

Uh huh. Do you remember one funny thing from that night? Hmmmmm???

It was a collection of funny stuff. How can I pick just one out? (How's that for evading the question?)

So...um...hello! Can't promise how long/often I'll be around, but I can resist the siren song of your trip reportage no longer! To be honest, knowing I have a trip on the horizon, makes being on the Dis a whole lot less painful.

WOW! Hi, Tina! Long time to see here! I really do hope you come around often and for a while! I hope I can entertain you with silly tales and ridiculous antics as long as you're here. :) When's your trip? I guess I missed that on FB? Maybe?

I fully support still calling Disney Springs DTD. Because I'm stubborn too. I'm glad you made it through your evening without any indecent exposure issues. Dancing was a bold move on your part.

Hey Andy, been a while! Look! You were behind 3! updates! LOL!

Me too! Wouldn't want any embarrassing things to happen.

Oops! Too late, I danced.

Let's see... E was next... that's right, EE. 3 rides at RD??? That's doing it right! And some nice pictures to boot.

It's only one of my top favorite rides. Of course I had to ride it 3 times!

And thanks!

If only I could have joined the Fiesta there. La Cava, or the Ditch, is my favorite bar in EPCOT. While I've never had the opportunity to just hang out in there for a while, I can't resist getting a drink from there. It looks like you all had a great time together!

OH Andy! That would have been so nice! You'd have been the perfect addition! It's really a great time in there. Not trashy or rowdy in a rude way, just good fun of people laughing and having a good time. Mmmm.... margaritas!

I like that definition!

Thanks! I made it up myself. LOL!

I like your style

Why thank you. Girls trip anytime?

Sweet! Still think youre a bad a$$

WAHOO! ;)

I'm going to try to make one here at home this weekend, I think. I have some frozen avocado already done up in the freezer for smoothies. Mmmm, adult smoothies....

Hmmm, this one is a toughy. It can be loud, and yes, everyone is kinda tipsy. But it's not out of control or rowdy either. I mean it's Disney and they do a pretty good job at keeping out the riff-raff. Like I said, Security (uniformed) came through twice. They do have snacks and any drink can be made 'virgin'. I'd say, if you want to take the kids, go at around 2:00 before the Happy Hour rush (no, there are no HH prices) so you can even get in at all. The place is over-the-top popular.

I believe the copywrite symbol isn't necessary if you can prove that it was your original material. However, even that symbol can be edited out and then your photo can still be used without it. Going after people who use your intellectual property without your permission wouldn't be worth the time and cost unless it was used by a large firm. So if someone steals your photo and reposts it, there's not much you can do, symbol notwithstanding. I've had so many of my photos re-posted without credit that I can't count that high. Then again, most were freely given away so I'm not complaining... much. Still, would've been nice to have received a "thanks to pkondz for taking this photo" once in a while. Especially when they get comments like "Nice photo of you!" "Thanks!" I recently was being pestered by the Mom of one of the models I'd recently shot "Can you send me that photo? Can you send it to me?"
So I did. And I put the watermark over her face! Like this:

It was a collection of funny stuff. How can I pick just one out? (How's that for evading the question?)

Very deftly done..... not!! :lmao:

Gorgeous shot! WOW! I am duly impressed. And yeah, the watermark right over her face was a bold move- and perfectly gets your point across. Even if simply credit given was the norm, I"d be a heck of a lot less irritated.

::yes:: Same woman whom I've given many shots to (I shot a lot of the competitions) and never got credit. Oh, well, I did get thank yous.

That's why I picked two on franandaj's TR............ ;) :D

::yes::

Oh come on I wouldn't go THAT far ..........you fit in your wedding dress didn't you???

What? Is there more to that story?
We need to meet, Marv.

Yeah! BAM! Working! Down 5#.

Congrats!
