Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Hi all! We just booked our first stay at Poly! Woohoo! We are typically moderate people and we had actually booked a bounce back offer at CBR while we were at POP the night before our cruise this year... But they made us upgrade to a preferred room and park hoppers to get the deal and it added A LOT of money to our trip and pretty much ate up all the supposed savings. Then my TA scored me a deal at Poly that was too good to pass up so we made the switch on Monday. I'm beside myself! I've wanted to stay here for awhile but I'm a practical person and have always told me self we can have just as lovely a time at CBR. I've stayed at a deluxe a couple times and didn't really love either one (Contemporary and AKL) but I know Poly is going to be different. Wishes is my favorite thing in the world and knowing I can see them every single night just makes me want to cry! We are staying 9/2-9/9

I am sure I am going to have a lot of questions the next few months!

Congrats on the great deal for the Poly, you will love it! Enjoy the planning :goodvibes.

My agent got back to me and we are booked for 6 nights in August!
YEAH!!

:yay: :yay:

The stuff on pg 1 is grapefruit. Blech!! As of yesterday it was sea salt lotion and shower gel and sea marine shampoo and conditioner at contemporary. If they gave it at CR and GF, I'd be shocked not to see it at Poly.

I'm surprised too! Is there any way I can find out for sure? Thanks! :)

It's not the same stuff that you get on the cruise. We cruised and then stayed at AKL the night after in September. The toiletries at AKL were the same that are pictured in the first page of this thread... completely different than the stuff on the cruise... Shower gel at AKL and that awesome lotion on the cruise... I am kicking myself because my room attendant on the ship asked if I wanted more lotion on my last night and I said no because I don't usually use it. And then I tried it at home and I'm obsessed with it and wish I had said yes to more!

Is there any where we can buy these?

Has anyone ever stayed in Figi marina side on first floor? Just wanted to know how the patios are there?

My inlaws stayed there in August (we were on the opposite side). Nice view, nice patio. They would leave swimsuits to dry on the chairs. All in all they enjoyed it very much. They had a much better view than we had that's for sure. You will enjoy.

Oh good thank you. That's good to hear because I requested 1st or 3rd floor marina side.

Making our first WDW Deluxe resort stay at Poly, May 18-24. We were originally booked CL @ AKL for the same dates, but my wife won a raffle for a 6 night stay @ Deluxe resort with 7 Day PH and DXDP. For the time we wanted to go this is what we were able to get. Super excited to be staying here!

What a great prize! We will be there the 20th-24th before switching to the YC!!!

In July we had the small bottles of the grapefruit scented toiletries. This was also what we received last December.

In September 2015 and October 2016 we received the large sea salt at CR.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I'm sure it might be in here somewhere. But Can someone tell me what time the Oasis pool is open until at night. Just wondering because kids aren't that young anymore and would like to go for a "quiet" swim after the parks close.

Could someone please tell me how many laundry rooms are within this resort?

On the resort side there's one located on the east side of the resort beside Lilo’s Playhouse, 5 washers 8 dryers. There's another one on the DVC side, 2 washers 4 dryers.

Last week it was open until 10PM.

In July we swam well past the posted close (after midnight) but not sure if we just got lucky.

OK, here's my first round of questions. Background: We visit Disney fairly often (every year or every other year) but this is our first Poly stay.

First: I've heard talk of the bungalows and how that changes viewing the fireworks. Any insight on this? Also how has the tragedy at GF affected things?

Second: To hop or not to hop? We never hop. We've never felt a need. Even if we took a midday break, we just went back to the same resort in the evening. However, I can see the merit of having hoppers so we can spend a little time at MK each evening. But if we are used to NOT hopping, should we just stick with that? I don't want to spend money that is unnecessary and with the, um, "magical" deals, you have to determine your tickets ahead of time. You don't have the option of upgrading after check in. So we can't wait and see how we feel once we are there.

You'll want to be on the beach near the Lava Pool, or over near the Luau Beach. The beach that was down over near Moorea is now bungalows.

The water's edge is now large rocks, with a rope fence. Thou shalt not enter the water without taking deliberate moves that show you don't pay attention to signs, fences or barriers. In other words: The insurance defense will win.

I think it depends how late you like being out, and the kind of posted park hours for your trip. If many of the parks are closing at 8 but you like going late late late, you may want hoppers.
