October 27, 2017... Wonder EBPC!

Hello!
My husband (Dan) and I (Heidi) will be doing this cruise as our second Disney cruise. Our first Disney sailing was Western Caribbean in 2014 on the Fantasy. It was my first cruise ever, and my husband's 3rd (but first on Disney). I don't know if I'll ever be tempted to try a different cruise line after that fantastic experience! DCL knows how to bring the magic.

I'm new to DIS boards. I just recently learned about Fish Extenders, and I was hoping to participate in one where I could put my crafting skills to use. I'm still not 100% clear on how they work, but it seems that the sweets exchange is pretty much full...? Since I've never participated in one, I don't want to organize one at this point.

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!

Heidi

Hi, Heidi. I'm Brenda! First of all Welcome! You have come to the right place. This will be my 18th and my DH's ( Eric) 16th Disney cruise by the time we sail as we have our next cruises booked already. We actually did the Western Caribbean cruise this past May. That was a lot of fun.

I have participated in the FE gift exchanges in the past and the jury is still out whether we will participate on this cruise. I was thinking that I might need to make a new extender. I made the first one just by guessing and it came ginormous!!! But it helps to locate our cabin when are walking down the hall and the little kids who see get a kick out of it.

I think that you can sign up for all of the activities that we are doing on this cruise meet. They are going to keep the groups manageable so, as one group fills up they will start another one. So, join the things you might be interested in. Things will start to sort itself out the closer we get to sail time.

I am looking into getting a private mixology class for us. We will most definitely need more than one group for that.

I'm looking for the pattern I had for the regular (not my ginormous) FE to send or post here. I will let you know when and if I find it.

Candy Exchange interest..Bobbiwoz organize...I will keep the number of cabins in each group between 6-11

Hi everyone! Excited about cruising through the canal! If no one has volunteered to organize FE, I'd be more than happy to organize for this cruise.

Hi DopeyzGoofy,
I would like to participate in a FE if you get one organized.

:welcome:

If you are referring to the Local Candy exchange as being full, please know that it is not! It will be divided into groups of between 6-11 cabins!

Bobbi:)

:welcome:

The groups will be organized in August. I'll be asking for information from each cabin, including if there are allergies we should be aware of! Groups will be 6-11 cabins, so do not worry as the list gets longer!

My mom, niece and her boyfriend (maybe) will be joining us on this cruise. I love cruising with my mom, she is just too funny! I call this divine province as there was only ONE cabin left in the verandahs on our deck and it was RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO OUR ROOM!!! I wish I had known they wanted to go when we booked, that way I could have gotten the adjoining cabin on the other side of them. Who knows, maybe will be lucky and get it!

Let the good times begin!

How nice to be cruising with family members, and how lucky that you will be at least next door!

On the local candy exchange, how "local" does it need to be? I'm finding that all of our local candy is available nationwide and online. The most "local" is See's and Ghiradelli, we have some others, but one makes pralines (which are more local to NOLA and not LA.)

Even our local chocolates from Esther Price are available on line, but local Daytonians of a certain age, call the chocolates "Esther." Also, if you find something you really like and care to share, that is fine. Hershey is available everywhere, but folks from the Harrisburg area gave out some, no one minded!

Floridians often have given Key Lime cookies or candies.

Whatever you choose, please just include something telling about the treat!

Hey, Crystal, I just realized that we were on the Pixar Cruise with you all as well!!! Looking forward to seeing you again.
How cool is that :) That was my daughters very first cruise :) Hoping we have Captain Fabian again because she has a picture of her and him together and she tells everyone he is her favorite captain :)

Regarding the candy exchange which I think is great, we will know if anyone has peanut allergies. I ask this because we live in Virginia which is the home of the peanut. Don't want to risk bringing a peanut based treat if it is going to be a challenge.
Also there will be two rooms under my Dis name (DL1957) as my DSIS and DBIL are in the cabin next to us and wish to join in.
Everyone have a safe Halloween we will all be together next year for this celebration!

As we traveled to WDW last year, the Welcome rest stop in Virginia gave out peanut samples!
Will your DSIS and DBIL wish to be in the same group as you, or do they want to be in a different group?

I have been in contact with the Events Planning office to find out about the different tasting classes being offered during our cruise. She sent me the listing but, of course, things can change. I didn't realize that there were so many to choose from. There are 10 different types of classes that possibly could be available to us. They range in price from $20 to $35 and most have a minimum of 20 people with a few with a minimum of 10.

Obviously, it is way too early to set anything up, but just think about what you would like and perhaps we can get a list started.
