Gasp! HM isn't a favorite! JK I'm sure others will be devastated. Some are hopeful for hatbox ghost but I wouldn't get my hopes up for that.

I don't want to take things too far off topic, but it's the herding everyone from the stretching room to the doombuggies that really got to me the only time I ever rode it. I had a heck of a time keeping our group together and keeping my 6yo from getting smashed in the river of people. Didn't care to ever experience that again. Are there any other rides like that? Is POTC like that (it was closed last Sept when we were there)?

No other rides have a pre show like HM. But in my opinion HM has to be one of the greatest rides Disney has ever done. It's one of those rides that every other theme park wishes they had. I also highly suggest you ride pirates. It's one of those must do classics.

Haunted Mansion will be closed for refurbishment November 28th-December 2nd, 2016

Thankfully we are there the 6th-13th of December otherwise my husband and son would be devastated, HM is their all-time favorite.

FYI - Disneyland's version is much more open and less chaotic than the World's. Another one of those rides where the original far exceeds the copy for reasons (other than budget) I will never understand. They have more space, more options, and yet, they made it feel much more crowded and rushed at Magic Kingdom.

But Disneyland's doesn't have the changing portrait in the first room and the ride itself is shorter (you walk past a lot in the line that is in the ride in MK). I'll take the longer ride over the more organized line.

Yes, but they could easily add that at WDW if they wanted. DL has only had it for a year and a half.

Thanks for the update and HM is a family favorite. If HM and BTMRR was being refurbished at the same time, my family would probably ask to move our trip! Just kidding - well only partially!

when I heard about the HM update I thought if it was at the same time as BTMRR closure I would just lose it :scared1:

As I'm so bummed about missing the wildest ride in the wilderness, I don't think I could have coped if I had to miss out on being called a foolish mortal as well :rotfl:

Wouldn't you consider that Tower of Terror and Rock'n'roller coaster have similar issues with the pre-show? Rock'n'roller coaster isn't quite as bad because you have two levels that are split, but with the past two times we went with larger (8-12ish) groups we had a heck of a time staying together. We even have trouble keeping everyone together on Test Track and Dinosaur, although none of the above are as "unruly" as HM.

Ah yes ToT is similar, however RnRc is a little different. It's not as crammed in that room.

I feel like I'm these rides with the pres-show in an open room everyone pushes to be the first ones through the door when it opens when in reality at that point everyone is basically going to get on the ride within a few minutes or less...we usually hang toward the back and let everyone push and shove in front of us to avoid getting separated or having my sensitive mom/don't shove my child attitude triggered :rolleyes1

The other key is to know where the door will open from, and make your way there, so you can be the first one out.

No Need to push......Like PP stated, What are you actually gaining? a minute or so extra...Really? Is it worth it...To me Heck no...I'm In WDW No worries....

when we have a large group and are in the pre shows, we make a "line" splitting the room in half so when everyone heads to the door our group splits the room from people in front of us closer to the door and people behind us, so when we make it to the door our group is together... does that make sense? Say in RnRC you have people close to the recording studio and then stand behind each other while watching it, to split the room... we do the same for haunted mansion cause you always go under the portrait of the young woman holding the parasol to the doom buggies! it works at TOT also in the library

Hello everyone, I was doing some reading online that said Disney is changing the magic band design to not a bracelet anymore. Is this true or ar they staying as bracelets??
