Are you addicted to traveling?

Anyone else feel like they are addicted to traveling? I feel like I'm always going somewhere or planning something. Almost like a 2nd full-time job.

Calling it a second job is actually quite accurate. My first full-time job funds my "second" job! I like to have several trips planned throughout the year. They're like stepping stones to get me through life :)

If my kids were older and I had more money then it would be a problem. Right now it is just planning and spending my money on bills.

Absolutely! I almost always have one or two trips on the schedule and continue the planning of the next ones.

Yes, but right now my life is in such chaos that I can't plan anything concrete. Right now I'm "planning" a trip to Germany in early December to see the Christmas markets. Will probably pair that with Prague and Vienne/Salzburg as well. This December, next December, in a few years, who knows.

Um, I would say yes. at any given time we have at least 5 trips booked, oftne substantially more. Other people buy nice cars, or clothes or done out a lot, or go to the movies---we travel.
(and it is like a job to figure it all out and do so at prices that lalow us to travel as much as we want--no doub! But it is a fun job)

I used to be. I used to leave the country at least twice per year.

But then I had kids and it became far more expensive and difficult. We still travel, but we rarely leave the country.

I used to work in a year round school. We only had 163 days per year of school. I was on for 4 months and off for 2, and I would go somewhere each "vacation."

We haven't done anything fun in almost a year. We have gone to see family, but that is about it. Now that the boys are on different school schedules and I am working full time, our travel has cut back a lot.

Not to add in that we have college costs looming (one reason I have gone back to work!)

Probably one of the primary reasons I don't see myself having kids. I can't give up the trips and the freedom to throw a dart at the calendar and say, "Yea I'm going to X on Y date."

Definitely. I always like to have something in the works. Planning vacations and get-aways is my hobby. I was widowed eight years ago, so finding like-minded friends isn't always easy.

Every couple of months I get the urge for a road trip. It doesn't have to be far. Even if its just a couple of hours to visit friends. I'm good.

OMG... I am an OCD travel planner who puts hours of reading and research and planning into our trips!
This is kind of like an 'escape'.
So, I hadn't thought of it in terms of 'addiction', but in a way you are right!!!!

We have now done the bigger trips. The bucket lists of Hawaii and Alaska.
And, at this point, traveling and flying on these kind of trips is hard on me.
That, along with financial limitations, is going to have to put a huge damper on my addition!

Love to travel, love to plan so it is something we try to do a lot.
I have 4 trips planned right now with 3 more in the starting phase.

I didn't have kids until I was in my 30s.

But I didn't have the freedom to just go anytime anyway, not with my job. It is all good. I chose the career I have and I chose to have kids. Travel days will come again. We still DO travel, just not as extensively.

We are discussing an African travel location for this upcoming summer. If not this coming summer, probably next. I want the kids to see where I grew up before they are all off doing their own things.
