*** The Official August 2016 Thread! ***

The hardest part of these last few days at home is trying not to buy perishable groceries. We're on milk rations today and tomorrow. :teeth:

Haha. Are you all packed?

I need to start getting stuff together. Seems like I have lots of time left but in reality I only have 1 day a week off so only 2 Sunday's off to get ready. Yikes lol

No. I'm just starting to pack and we're leaving either tomorrow night or Thursday morning.

I detest packing and I'm having a hard time deciding how to pack since we're driving down. I just want to throw everything in a suitcase and be done with it. My husband thinks we should pack separately in duffle bags for our few nights on the road.

Good Luck, I can't stand packing either, and that makes me over pack.. Hubby wants to just take one suitcase this trip and share.. hmmmm I don't know if I can do it.

Have a great trip!!

This what we do. I don't mind packing though, but we have our 'Disney' suitcase with the weeks worth of clothing packed in our own suitcases and they get packed into the stow-and-go seats. Than I have one bag that holds a change of clothes for all, and a our bathroom bag that stays within reach for our hotel night/stop. I like it that way for less clutter in the van/around us as well as I'm not trying repack five suitcases at 8am when we want to hit the road again.

We finally got home on Monday night after having to extend it a bit due to our car issues. After a very bumpy start, we did enjoy the trip. We walked so much, could not believe those numbers that came up on our phone apps. Crowds were low almost every day. We did everything numerous times. Actually had time to slow down and enjoy the many beautiful sights and sounds. It was the first time we had seen the completion of the garden in front of Crystal Palace, it is truly beautiful. I did post an update to our trip here http://www.disboards.com/threads/updated-here-now-rocky-start.3532473

We really enjoyed CRT, Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill the most this trip. Shared the last two places with my two girls DD17 and DD22, and it was so much fun for us. Hubby had a lot of car issues to take care of and it all worked out, he is not a big Disney fan...as he says, I just come along for the ride.

Loved the parade, saw it twice and was right up front and personal with many of the characters. I think Flynn looking right at my DD22 several times and waving/winking made her day. Peter Pan, best character interaction for my DD17 made hers. A big thank you for all the CM's that really go out of their way to make things magical. You can really tell when they enjoy their job. Not sure if we will return, at least as a family. DD22 is venturing off, preparing for grad school, and DD17 will be entering college next year this time. They are interested in seeing the new lands at HS so that is a possibility. Enjoyed all the updates here in this thread, I will continue to watch until all of you return.

Have a great trip! We are involved with the Ontario Summer Games this weekend then head to Disney on Tuesday! Majority of our packing will take place Monday :scared:. Safe travels! Remember, we're going to try the churro cupcakes at CR!

Hi all :) I know I'm a little late to the game here in the thread, but i JUST found you and we're leaving either Aug 26th or 27th and driving. I'm sure we are driving through but its still big discussed lol Just started to pack some clothes. It'll be me, hubby, DS6.5 and DD 1. Should be fun? lol We'll be staying at the Art of Animation.

ETA: This is a first disney trip for all of us :) I'm excited beyond words!

Thank you! Enjoy your trip too! :)

I can't believe I totally forgot about the churro cupcake. I'm glad I told you, cause I need you to remind me of these things. :hyper: I'm gonna try to swing by the CR when we're at the Poly for this treat.

Magic Bands arrived last Monday, goody package from my TA including some stuff to occupy DS9 on the flight, travel documents and DME tags arrived Saturday. Packing has slowly begun but I can't do too much quite yet. Still have to work up the designs for the shirts my mom will be making us. Last minute a friend found a b/w animal print skirt  that is just begging for a Cruella shirt so of course I need to figure out a 101 Dalmations shirt for DS.He can't find his Peter Pan shirt :guilty: so I'm on the hunt for an idea for another too. We'll be out of town this weekend (fri-sat) so Sunday will be when I can finally get into Disney gear and really dig into organizing and packing.

I feel out of the loop....what is the churro cupcake? And where can I get one?
Leaving in 8 days! All packed ( I hope).
I'm reading that people are seeing low crowds? This would be really nice. I follow touring plans, the first half of our trip is lots of 7+. Both hubby and eight year old do not do well in high crowds. High anxiety. Especially in the heat. But this is not my first rodeo...planning on entering parks at open, pool then nap in afternoon and back to parks in the evening.
Most important, well be together in Disney.
Crossing fingers for lower crowds.
Anyone traveling...safe travels!

We're heading back after three years, me and my partner, Ryan. We're booked at Yacht Club 8/25-8/30 and really excited. It will be his first Deluxe stay ever, and my first since Poly...in 1973! We're very looking forward to Storm-Along Bay, the vibe around Crescent Lake, and the proximity to World Showcase and DHS. It's a last-minute trip for us, so we're being super flexible about ADRs and FP+. Last time we didn't have the greatest time, so this time we decided to go for it in the Epcot resort area and splurge. Also I did mention Storm-Along Bay, right? ;-)

13 days! I booked the trip 3 days ago because I need some pixie dust. I seriously cannot wait! Staying at POP and my first time seeing new Soarin' and FEA. It will be my third trip this year, can't get enough:hmghost:

We're there the 27th-31st so we overlap :) But we're at WL this trip, leaving kids home so just DH and I. However we've stayed at BWV 4x and LOVE being so close to Epcot (and HS)!! It's awesome being able to walk in to WS for breakfast at Les Halles or to have a few drinks. And the whole BW area at night is lovely. We're actually trying BCV for the first time in Nov. I hope you have a wonderful trip :goodvibes
