Talking Mickey- yay or nay?

We have never done this.. trying to decide if we should make it a priority this trip on our 3rd MK day since we will have hit most of our must-do's! I feel like I have heard mixed reviews about this! I have a DS5 and a DD7 who are not normally scared of characters but sometimes get a little "star-struck"!

TIA!

Did it with my three littles in December and loved it! I'm pretty sure that there's a set number of phrases he says, but they only let a few families in the room at a time so you won't see something twice unless you go see him twice. But be aware that sometimes the tech isn't working and he doesn't talk and there's no warning about it. Here's a shot from our experience:

A definite yay! We love Talking Mickey, while there are a set number of phrases, it is still very magical for young and old alike.

I think it is fun there are just a few things he will say I would say do it I how ever would not wait 45 minutes for it. maybe go right after the 3pm parade if you see it from the area

Talking Mickey is by far one of the most magical things we've ever gotten to experience at WDW. Definitely do it!

I would definitely go for it! My sons were also a bit shy with the characters when we took them at 2 and 5 but they did better with him. I think this is partly because it's Mickey and partly because he speaks which allows them to connect more. As other have said, many find it to be quite magical. My sister, who is 27 and has been to Disney plenty of times, even cried after meeting him back in December. I might add that it is not like her to get the magic touch when we go either. The lines are often short so it's totally worth it!

He's a must see for us. He's easier to interact with than non-talking characters because you don't have to interpret any body language. It's less awkward for my kids. Favorite moment ever was the first time we saw him a couple years ago. My son was three at the time and went right up to Mickey and said, "I love you, Mickey" and Mickey responded with, "I love you too, pal." The look on his face was priceless and I still tear up thinking about it to this day.

A definite Yes! With my daughter and me, he performed a card trick and spoke throughout. When waiting for our turn, he spoke Portugese with the family in front of us. Another time with my daughter, we were wearing our silver, sparkly ears; Mickey kept moving about the room asking how our "reception" was and could we still hear him with our sparkly silver ears. Truly a highlight of any trip to MK.

I never did character meets before my 2014 trip, but I had gotten Memory Maker for the first time that trip, and wanted to make the most of it, so I did some characters. (I'm an adult, no kids.) I didn't know that it was talking Mickey when I went, and it was a fun surprise! I thought it was neat, and the kids that were ahead of us in line thought it was great.

My kids love it. It's one of the few characters they remember from our last trip. They are still pretty young. Mickey sang my son Happy Birthday and my son still talks about how his friend Mickey sang to him.

My kids really liked it. They were 4 and 2 at the time. They still refer to him as the "real" Mickey. As opposed to the other times they met Mickey.

So, how do you explain to the kids that sometimes Mickey talks and sometimes he doesn't? We've avoided seeing Talking Mickey because I didn't feel like trying to explain why Mickey at Epcot won't talk. Ideas?
