Official Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side 2017

I can't find the group :(

I literally copied and pasted it into my FB search: Disney's Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend Just make sure you get the group, not the runDisney event. I can PM you the link if you want too, because I'm not sure if we're allowed to share it or not here?

If we ran last yr do they send u an email giving you first dibs on the race. I thought i had read something about that. I could be very wrongthough. My DS and i ran the 10k and r hoping to do the same again.
Thanx.

No, unfortunately no preferred registration for those who have run before.

What was the pricing like last year?

runDisney has posted the following pricing on their site:

Star Wars™ Half Marathon – The Dark Side

  • $185
Star Wars™ Dark Side Challenge

  • $320
Star Wars™ 10K

  • $120
Star Wars™ 5K

  • $75
runDisney Kids Races presented by GoGo squeeZ® Applesauce on the Go

  • Dashes - $20
  • Mile - $30

This does not include Active fees. I paid $351.78 for Rebel Challenge Light Side weekend which cost $330 if that helps.

Thank you!! I was on the rD site this morning and didn't even go to the registration page. Duh!

Another question if no one minds, when DS and I are filling out the anticipated time of finish for SWDS registration, do we use "McMillian"'s calculations, or can we just double our time from the Enchanted 10k we completed back in February. DS finished the 10k in an hour which puts him in the third line of time choices, but McMillian bumps him down few. I guess it adds in the minutes from the half mile left to run. Any advice?

Are you talking about registering for the SWDS half marathon? If so, you don't just fill in a predicted finish time, but you need a proof of time, so you would submit your actual 10k time (and required website link to that time). runDisney will then take your 10k submission and predict your half finish time (by using some calculator like McMillan).

We are looking to try and register for the Challenge which requires an anticipated half marathon finish time when registering. Hence, my question as to what choice we make when doing so. We have our POT from the Enchanted 10k ready to enter, but unsure as to how we should choose our anticipated finish time for the half.

I have always calculated the time using my 10k pace, so my POT is a 12:47 pace so I say that I expect to finish in 2:47:28
I use a calculator like this one:
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/4/4_1/96.shtml

I have never had a problem doing it that way and have always been placed in the right corral.

Ok, so my son finsihed 10K in 1:01:16 and I did it in 1:18:29. Therefore, his pace is a 9:52 (times 13.1) and mine is 12:38 (times 13.1) and those are the slots we choose when filling in the anticipated finish required field when registering?

If it is a pull down menu with times I would pick the one closest to your time so looking at your time on the calculator it says at that pace you would finish the half in 2:45:36 so I would select 2:45. Your son calculates to 2:09:21 so I would select the 2:10 time. For yours it doesn't required POT but I would put it in anyways.

When I registered for the SWDS Challenge last year, there wasn't a spot for my anticipated time, only the POT entry, so I just entered my 10k POT, and that was all they needed for both the 10k and half marathon. However, if they did have an anticipated time spot, I would have used a calculator (like McMillan) for my estimated half marathon time.

In any case, you should use a calculator, not just calculate your 10k pace and multiply by 13.1. Your half marathon will be at a slower pace than your 10k race pace.

Newbie...hoping to get in the 10k race. Just booked our stay, camping with some friends at FW. Four of us total - hopefully we all get in the race. When I started running two years ago - my goal was to do a DW 10k, so I'm very excited!

We have our Active.com accounts and a calendar reminder set up for Aug. 9 at noon. Any tips, tricks or advice so that all four of us get registered?

Ugh, just started a new hourly job (my orientation was today) part time so I can help fund my runDisney obsession. They asked me to come in 9-4 all next week, even though I'm supposed to be working nights and weekends as that's when the HR ladies are there. So now I have a potential conflict with AP registration next week. Ugh. My BRF said she will register me if necessary as she's off that day or I could ask my husband, but at least my BRF is familiar with registration. Has anyone registered from a phone. I'm wondering if I can ask to go on lunch a little before noon so that I can get signed up. Or just let my friend register me since there is no guarantee about getting off in time to register. Life is just getting complicated!

I registered for Dopey on my phone, while I was at WDW for The Dark Side races. Everything seemed to work out well. I know that sometimes the AP page doesn't want to load, but just clear history (even just for the last hour or day) and it should work.

I would say don't go through the runDisney page use the link they post on Facebook, sometimes people post it on here too. Lately they have been using a virtual waiting room with a little man that walks across the screen don't refresh that page or you will lose your place in line.
