I'm sorry, please bear with me, this it a bit long about my sad GS end.
So, as I said, using GS to purchase Ebay is completely finished here. As I noted above, I live 60 miles west of Chicago. My gamble did not pay off this time, and it's hit me big, lol. Not funny, but I knew there was a gamble and I took it after after assurances that they were still selling ebay using GS. Got my cards tuesday from last promo and went in the evening. We both experienced then that the GS to ebay gc's would no longer work, (and later it turned out, Shell and BP Gas gc's are out, as well). They seemed surprised. Me too! Ugh! I hate to admit, but I go big so had $1000. Maybe not smart but figured I had options and trusted that things were still as they had been, at least one more time. So, he said we could call his district manager but I had to go back to work so I left and went back today. The manager who helped me yesterday was there and said he'd been looking into it and had found an email they'd just received. It said some weird code like things like no more vanilla gc's or something about no wizard and there was something else. Basically he said it meant no Ebay gc's with GS gc's. He could not do any sort of buy an item with a gc then exchange for an ebay card or cash. I figured not but had to ask, I remember another poster did some sort of exchange like that. He had also talked to his district manager and they couldn't do anything, the system would not allow it even if they would agree. Ugh! So I left to check the other GS's I've used, putting in calls. The first one said they could do $100 in a day. He was quite friendly and trying to help, but later found out he was wrong. We chatted couple of times, and he suggested buying a game system, like the newest xbox 1 (?) and selling that on ebay. I thought it was nice he was trying to help, anyway, lol. The third store had more current info and said the same thing about no vanilla, whatever that is, lol.
So, while thinking what I could do, at my store, I asked about gas gc's and they said yes. But, I left to check the other stores first. When calling that third store, they told me no gas cards, no ebay, no visa. I then went back in my store just in case they still could do gas gc's, but no luck. That was gonna be my good exit there with several of us, using the gas gc's, including two who could use a lot in a couple months of driving to work. Sorry if this was confusing to read.
So, that's my story here. Now to decide how to proceed to get back what I can. I'm not happy, of course, but I took a gamble one more time and lost. Hopefully posters will refrain from telling me I messed up, lol, I already know! Plus, I did make some good ebucks off of it, so whatever hit I take, it's like I made that much less free money, so I still came out ahead overall.
I'd still like to get cash somehow to continue churning elsewhere. I could use some suggestions or helpful thoughts on what I could do. The no gas gc's stinks since that seemed a good straight value for the gc's. There is the SW option, which I didn't ask about but think it still works, but I use points and not sure I wanna put money into that to just sit there till I need to pay with cash when I run out of points down the road. I could sell the GS gc's on Ebay, but there are fees. Not sure how much they are, haven't had time to check that kind of thing out yet when I can really figure out how to sell on ebay. And, as the clerk said, I could buy a game system and sell that and get good value out of it. Just not sure which would be the better option on ebay, selling gc's or selling a game system or bundle. I guess I could get the SW cards and sell those at ebay, too, maybe they would sell better?
Also thought of selling through Raise maybe, but again, haven't been able to check into it yet. That way I could get some cash to use maybe. I guess I could try some of each selling gc's and selling an item or bundle of stuff but I know nothing about games, though they could maybe help me with picking that out.
I was just looking at ebay cardcash, they give you ebay egift cards. Not sure how that works, hopefully the same as using the ebay cards we already use. That might actually be not so bad. So, for 10 GS cards I'd get $858.00, or $85.80 for one. So, that'd be a $142 loss, not great, but not terrible. No idea if that'd be better than I could get elsewhere, or at ebay with all the fees and time and effort that might take to sell cards or items. I dont' know if anyone would even buy a Gs gc from me, or if it wouldnt' be worth it with the fees and all. I also just checked giftcardgranny and their best cash back is $830, not sure I get how they work there anyway, but ebay cardcash seems to be better.
So, I don't know, but am interested to hear any helpful suggestions or thoughts or opinions that I could consider, if anyone could be so kind. I would definitely appreciate that. Part of me wants to gamble on selling thru ebay, and maybe getting more than I expect, but that's more time and effort than I probably want to put in for just maybe a good payback. If anyone has done the ebay cardcash I'd be interested to hear how that went and if the ebay egift cards spend just as the ones we currently use while churning. Thank you for reading.
