Just wondering what everyone thinks about on-line check-in. We've never done it before in all the times we've been there - and we're arriving tomorrow. Is it worth it to do it in advance??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he advantage to online check-in is that you can let the resort know when you're arriving, thus improving the chances that your room will be ready when you arrive. Other than that, it seems as if there's no big difference.

Not too loud? (We don't have little kids to get to be early, so no worries anyway)

I've put in a request for Oasis pool side because of that reason. Anyone know how the view is for that side of Samoa? I don't want to be hidden behind trees, but have something pretty to look at.
When we were here in the summer 4 years ago it was very very loud in the afternoon when the cast members supervised games by the pool for the kids. But they haven't been doing that this time that I've noticed, or if they have, the volume has been much lower. A few times when we were resting in the afternoon we heard the noise, i thought about children trying to nap, but it didnt bother us. We never noticed noise at night. Right now at 10:58 pm I am hearing a musician on the tiki terrace near trader Sam's. If I hear it from Fiji I am certain it could be heard from Samoa.

Im.sure most of the views from the Oasis pool side are lovely. In any building a palm tree can block the view. We have a great view of the marina but there's foliage obstructing our view of the Contemporary and Space Mountain, while other rooms on this side can see them.

We stayed in Samoa last month and had an Oasis pool view. The view is beautiful! We were so happy we were on the Oasis side of Samoa vs. the main pool side.

Thanks for the detailed description! :listen: These little tidbits of information are so valuable!

That's so good to hear!!! Thank you! On the Touring Plans website there are so many pics, but for some reason I felt a little unsatisfied about the oasis pool views that were shown. Seemed foliage full! But still requested it.

What room were you in? Are there any stream of rooms you would recommend, as opposed to those you'd advise against? Thanks so much!!

We are in Fiji, marina side right now also! Beautiful view. I tried to share a picture but it was too big even though I took it w/ my phone.

If you room is ready before you arrive, they will text you. You can go directly to your room. No need to stop at the desk. Pretty big perk. :)

Not always. That's their eventual goal but it's not there yet. You could do Online Check In, complete all the prerequisites, the room could be ready and yet some guests will still have to stop by the front desk.

Nobody knows how they decide who gets to Bypass The Front Desk and who doesn't.

Oh and look at this shower curtain! I don't really have Disney decor in our place, but this was too cute to pass up!

Love the shower curtain :goodvibes.

And don't give up on the monorail. Oftentimes it's the easiest and quickest way to get to MK (and the coolest:sunny:)

I agree ::yes::.

Just booked for Nov 26th 2017 ~ Dec 2nd 2017!

How exciting! Happy planning :wizard:.

As our vacation approaches I am more hesitant about requesting Samoa, 3rd floor. I had originally requested Fiji, 3rd floor marina view, but changed to Samoa. Now I'm also wondering about it's popularity and not getting it. Hmmm....what to do, what to do????

If Samoa is your first choice, I'd put that first with Fiji second. I agree with maryj11, if you don't get Samoa, you can always ask if it's available. It's not guaranteed your room/location can be changed, but the CM will do everything he/she can to accommodate you :).

We faced that side prior to the new Oasis pool and I loved it as I thought the view was pretty. With that said, I imagine the view is even more beautiful now with the new pool :goodvibes.

In my Touring Plans fax, I've mentioned that if I couldn't get Samoa, I would be happy with Fiji. Too much??

Not too much at all! ;)

Have to share a pet peeve...was shopping for our upcoming trip today and a sales girl helping me just came back from a trip to Disney. Then she proceeded to share that she really enjoyed pool hopping and that she loved the Poly pool the best. I was shocked and asked her if they checked her wrist bands for I thought you were not allowed to do that? She then said "oh, it was so crowded that they didn't check." Well, we are paying all this extra money to enjoy the Poly pool, and I am not thrilled that Disney doesn't do a better job making sure that folks not staying at the resort are kept out of the pool. Does this happen a lot? I am hoping this girl and her friends just got lucky. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.

It seems reports vary. Some people report CMs checking bands every day, while others report times that nobody checks and the gate being broken that anyone can enter :(.

Just returned from a week's stay. Wanted Samoa, got Fiji, 3rd floor. Wasn't crazy abt Fiji. The music (especially drums) from the dinner show was very loud. OK at 7pm, not so great at 10pm when you're wanting to sleep. Then, most mornings, they raked the sand with a loud tractor around 6:30am. The view was pretty, could see the wedding chapel and GF.

When our plane landed abt 1pm, I turned on my phone and got a text that our room was ready.

Captain Cooks was busy most of the time. The lines moved, but you'll want to allow yourself plenty of time. It would be nice if they had 1 register for paying for items and not ordering hot items.

I went to the beach (near the Lava pool) one night to watch the fireworks. I got a chair 10 minutes before the start. They did play music, but it seemed to be further down the beach. It was kind of "soft" where I was. It was very cool that the water parade was going exactly the same time as wishes. I filmed it live on facebook.

We didn't swim, so no pool comments. The new pool is pretty. I walked around it one afternoon. It wasn't crowded at all. You needed your MB's to open the gates for both pools.

We only took the buses 2x. Once to HS was fine. Short wait. The day we went to AK, the bus loading area was PACKED. It took an hour for ANY bus to come. There was a CM present. She kept calling and they kept telling her they were on their way. We only waited short times for our return busses.

It drove me crazy that there were no clocks in the room. I especially with they'd put a clock in the bathroom. Our room was very clean. We had problems with the fridge. It took 2 days to get it working properly. They said to leave the doors open. We did. The maid kept closing them. *LOL* They should just take the doors off.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you didn't get Samoa and that you didn't care for Fiji, but I hope you had a nice trip overall :wizard:.

I didn't post this before, but we were at Poly over July 4 week and while they were indeed checking MB's in the lava pool and handing out wristbands, I overheard a conversation that really shocked me. A lady CM approached a woman with several small kids (who had just entered the pool area and sat at a table) to ask if the woman was staying at Poly. The woman had a blank look on her face (obviously shocked to be asked) and I couldn't hear what she said. But I did hear the CM reply "I'm not supposed to do this...." and that's all I could hear, but the CM did give her a wristband. Now I can't be sure what the situation was -- it could be the woman just didn't have her MB and the husband was on his way to the pool....who knows. But it did leave me with a bad vibe that I'm really not sure if the lava pool will EVER be just for Poly guests....no matter how hard they try.

:sad2:

I would not worry about it being too popular. If you are worried because of the amount of people here on the DIS that like a certain location, we are such a very small percentage of overall WDW guests it's not worth worrying about.

I agree :thumbsup2.

Any noise issues in the Moorea longhouse with the TTC being so close by? Wanting to stay at a lake view studio in the spring but not if it's noisey. Thanks!

We had that problem as well. The past 3 or 4 trips (we are talking 2005, 2008, 2013) my dh has removed the fridge from its enclosed case where there is no air flow and set it against/nearthe wall by the sofa bed. Our stuff never got cold until he did that so after checking the room for cleanliness, bed for bed bugs he moves the fridge. He does put it back before we check out.

Is your husband available next week when I check in? :earboy2:

Last month we were in room 2614. On previous stays we've been in rooms 3613 and 3614. All of these rooms had nice, unobstructed views. I recently saw a pic of Samoa room 3611 on Tikiman's FB page and it had a pretty obstructed view so I'd want to avoid that room and probably 2611. I'd think anything towards the center of Samoa would be pretty unobstructed. I can't remember there being any trees or anything planted in the middle of the building that would obstruct those room views.

We had trouble with our frig a couple years ago. It never did get cold, we just gave up. I was going to report it but didnt want to take the time to wait on them to come and check it out. We were in the Niue building.

Were you third floor? What was your room number?

We were in room 2614. Last year we were in room 3613 and the year before 3614. I'd be happy to email you a pic of our room view if you PM your email address. I tried to attach a picture here but I'm having trouble resizing the photo.

International guests, for one, have to get their magic bands. But in my experience, stopping by the front desk was still very quick because we were already checked in online. We had still received our text saying our room was ready but I guess if we wanted to open the door, the magic bands were a must.
