DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE...WHEN YOU WISH UPON A

Hi

I've been to Disney several times, its like my second home. However, this will be my first time going to Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. Does anyone have any helpful tips. I want to do some of the seminars and cooking demo's.

Has anyone ever been to the Burger Block Party or the Party of the Senses? Is it worth it or should I just go with the regular tasting booths?

Any other advantages of being a DVC member besides booking early?

Thank you

If you like alcohol, avoid the mixed drinks in the booths. There is barely any booze in them.
Beer and wine will be fine.

Thank you. Did you do any of the seminars?

We were hoping to do this for the first time this year - not looking likely now but I'll read this thread for next time!

We have been to F&W a number of times but have never done any of the seminars or special events. We just love to walk around WS and graze at the different kiosks. We take the passport they provide and get a stamp wherever we eat and put astericks next to the kiosks we really like, so we know which ones to return to. Of all the WDW events F&W is our favorite.

We also have not done special events. But try to go earlier in the day versus evening and go weekdays versus weekends. Weekends/evenings the crowds can be pretty bad, making for long lines at the kiosks. Also be aware that weekend evenings seem to attract those who love alcohol so inebriated people can be pretty common.

We enjoy cooking demos. I hope to book 2 this year. The chefs are usually very interesting, the food is tasty, and you get a small glass of wine with the tasting. Not a lot of money, $16 I think, $14 if you qualify for a discount.

The wine tasting seminars are relatively inexpensive and fun. There are usually small discounts available to annual passholders and DVC members.

If you have a Disney Visa, keep an eye out to see if their lounge (in the American Pavilion) will be open this year. It's cool and usually has some type of free beverages). In the past, they have also given bracelets for special sating for the Eat to the Beat Concerts (but may have stopped doing that now that they are selling meal packages that include reserved ETTB seating).

We went last year and did an Italian food and wine pairing at Tutto Gusto and something called French Afternoon (or something like that) at Monsieur Paul. Both were excellent, but the Tutto Gusto event was our favorite. We were there 10/21-10/26 and the crowds were pretty bad the entire time. It is definitely good to get there at 11 and start at the back of the WS to minimize your time in line. We have gone about 3 times over the past 5-6 years, and last year was the worst from a crowd standpoint. We have decided to take a break for awhile and maybe try to do F&G instead for awhile.

ETA: definitely plan some seminars. It helps you avoid the crowds and the heat.

This will be my 8th consecutive F&W Festival. I have done the seminars and wine tastings. All were good, with one exception. They had a last minute switch and we ended up with a vegan dish rather than the seafood that was listed. It is rare but it can happen. Stay away from Friday evening thru late Sunday afternoon. Epcot is packed as many of the locals come then and others for a long weekend. You also get a lot of "the drinking around the world" groups. They can be very loud and raucous when the alcohol and the heat kick in. We have seen security escort some of them out on more than one occasion. We also avoid the days with EMH as they are more crowded. Lines are shortest when the park opens and then again mid-afternoon. With a few exceptions, there were never more than 5 or 6 folks ahead of us in line, so we felt it was very manageable.

I have been to Party For The Senses twice, both times with reserved seating. Thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to go again this year. Be advised that if you do not have reserved seating, finding a table to put your beverage and food down can be difficult. It is suppose to be a eat, drink, and mingle, but many folks come in groups and stake out a table all night, taking turns getting their food, so the table is never freed up.

I have also done Signature Dinners: Citico's, The Wave, Jiko and Flying Fish. Well worth doing. I went once to the French luncheon, which is now French Family Traditions. It was outstanding, with the wine flowing freely. I was solo and ended up at a table with some lovely folks with whom I still keep in contact. Have also done the French breakfast. For me, that was a one time only event. Excellent food, but very carb heavy and I was uncomfortable all day because of all the pastries. I know I didn't have to eat them, but the temptation was too great.

Sometimes the Chase lounge people have bracelets for a special viewing area for Illuminattions. It's a nice viewing area, by Italy.

I'm having trouble finding the early booking date on the dvc member site. Can someone enlighten me as to where it's at? I also have looked on Disney visa site to see if they have one and can't find anything

July 19 for DVC, TiW and AP. But I think the early booking is just for the beverage seminars. If you can go to one M- Th, there is a $2 discount.

Public gets to book July 21.

We really enjoy going to F&W, however, I'd reiterate going early in the week. Thursdays through Sunday seem to be more crowded and a much rowdier crowd. DH and I both enjoy adult beverages but do not enjoy watching others' overindulgence of those beverages. My 16 year old son is bringing friends with him this year and he has requested that we schedule our trips to F & W early in the week and early in the day so as to avoid the rowdy nights.

Totally agree with going early during the day and we'll never go Friday-Sunday again!

Some friends of ours went last year and did the Premium Package but I can't find any information on it for this year. Is this something they offer every year? Any thoughts on when they would release information on it?

Get the themed gift card wristlet and load it with the amount you want to spend. This makes it very quick and easy through the kiosks. Maybe I'll see you there...enjoy!

It's been offered the last two years, but no word yet on this year. I really enjoyed the package last year and hope they offer it again!

They start booking tomorrow. If this is like the last few years it will be announced today or next month LOL! This has been consistently the "making it up as we go package" Seriously the first year they offered this they announced it well after everything else had already started booking. Last year it was the "well we don't exactly know what you are getting" plan where people just gave Disney money and hoped they got what they wanted.

Personally I have never seen the appeal. It's not like I have problems with long lines or finding a place to eat Monday - Thursday at lunch. The problems are the weekends and late in the evening. Since there's no package on the weekend or after 8 pm it just didn't work for me. I expect Disney will offer it again. I have three theories

1. About the same package, small price increase
2. Same price, fewer perks this year.
3. HUGE price increase with some small addition.

(And considering current trends I am worried it could be 3)
