Disney Fantasy - 7 night - Western Caribbean - 20 August 2016

I think you can also just post a couple of times on the test board if you don't have anything to post about. :) http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/
We are going down to Orlando on the 14th and visit some of the parks prior to the cruise. We are not staying at Animal Kingdom lodge. That sure seems like a popular place. We will have to check it out sometime.( trying to get to my 10 posts...lol).

Hi all, on the last Disney cruise we were on, someone organized a mixology group. It was fun and a good way to meet some of the people in the discussion group. Has anyone done it before?

I haven't done one, but I've seen them mentioned a couple of times and they sound like fun!

Are you doing WDW or Universal? We went to Universal for a couple of days after our cruise last year and I want to go back. Primarily for the butterbeer.

We just went to all the Disney parks in July, so I really wanted to see the New Harry Potter ride at Universal and of course get some butterbeer.

I just made our dining reservation for that evening for 7:10. Would meeting afterwards be too late for your family - maybe 8:45PM? I know you're coming from an earlier time zone. We don't land until 4:30PM that day, but I'm assuming we'll be at AKL by around 6:30. If that works better for you, we could try to meet up then. Maybe by the big fireplace in the lodge lobby?
I talked with my daughter Shelby and she is excited to meet you guys. We could probably meet at 8:45 by the big fireplace in the lodge lobby!

Hello we are joining every one. We are celebrating my sons first birthday. We are Jessica and Jon and our Son's name is Wesley. Also Traveling with us is my MIL Sherri, GMIL Mary Jane, SIL Jodi and CIL Bailey. We are cruise veterans besides my son obviously lol. Is anyone know of or going to set up a Fish Extender group for this sail?!

Hi Jessica! Welcome! It sounds like Wesley is going to have an AWESOME first birthday. :)

Several other people have expressed interest in a FE group, but I haven't seen anyone organizing yet.

Is there info somewhere on how to organize a FE group?? I am willing to do this. :)
I have this (hope it helps):
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

When I participated in the past they set up a FB page am I allowed to do that as well but just not post the link? I could just add everyone by email?

Hey everyone! I am willing to set up the FE for this cruise. :-)
What I will do is anyone who wants to participate can comment with their room number, first name and age of everyone 18 and under in room, if you celebrating anything mention that too!! Also list any allergies as I know some people may give snacks.
I'm going to create and excel spreadsheet and post the list every few weeks to make sure it is correct.
Adding your room to the FE list will close on July 20th that way people making custom gifts have time to be as creative as they would like and have plenty of time to do so. I will create. "Pixie Dust" list for people who want to join after the cut off.
If the sign up gets crazy we can vote on if we would like to split up the list to 10 rooms per group and you have the option to participate in as many groups you'd like.

Fish Extender groups that are organized on other social media sites are not DISboards FE groups.

If a FE is set up on another site, no links or search directions can be posted to it. DISboards is trying to keep their groups here on DISboards.

The policy linked above does state:
Links to Cruise Meet discussion/Fish Extenders other than those on the DIS may not be posted or offered by any other means (PM, email, "search" directions) and we expect that those who have already posted such links/offers will remove them.

It's your call as to how you want to handle the FE list.

Thank you!!

Right around 160 days until we sail!:yay: Thanks Jersbit for volunteering to set up the Fish Extender Exchange for this cruise. We are looking forward to participating and also meeting everyone. I have 2 teen girls that would love to get to know some of the other teens on this board. It's a nice way for them to break the ice before they go to the Vibe. PM me if interested and I will try to get the ball rolling!

Awesome. I will ask the 2 teens going with us if they would like to chat. They are both shy. They don't ever really go to vibe because of how shy they are. Lol
