Favorite No ADR, Non-Park Locations for Breakfast or Dinner?

We have a couple meals, breakfast and dinner, we didn't schedule ADRs for. Looking for some suggestions for non-park options. We like locations with quality of food over quantity along with being on property. Any favorite locations?

ETA: We are not on the DDP.

We've enjoyed breakfast and lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD/DS.

Trail's End at Fort Wilderness is our favorite non-ADR spot. It is a buffet, but we like the food quality. They have BBQ ribs and other comfort food at dinner. They also have a breakfast buffet, but it wasn't as exciting for us.

Didn't even think of Trail's End. How long is the wait to get a table normally for dinner?

Just looked at the breakfast menu and it looks heavenly. How was the seating? Was there enough and easy to get? We have a group of 7.

I was blown away by how good Shutters at Caribbean Beach was. Best steak I had the entire trip, and that includes Narcoosee's and Le Cellier.

We're hitting Boatwrights at POR this year for the first time since 2008. I wasn't thrilled by it back then, but the menu now looks wonderful.

We usually go in September so crowd levels are light anyway, but we often can walk in if we go a little after the dinner rush. In the height of the rush we've waited 15 minutes. In June with higher crowds we waited about 45 minutes.

We want to try WPE for breakfast too, but haven't made it over there in time for it. They stop serving breakfast at 11AM, and we just missed it last time. This year we plan on it, we'll just have to make sure we're up and have time to catch a bus early. With the light crowds and their good sized dining area a group of seven for breakfast should be ok.

That's not a bad wait time. What hours are considered the dinner rush? Normally we eat at 6-7pm.

We're usually a party of 5 or 6 when we eat there and we haven't had a problem with seating. I will say that we usually eat at "off" times -- either a late breakfast (10:30ish) or an early lunch (11:00ish). One time we got there at about 10:50 planning to eat lunch (knowing we were early) but when our teenage son saw the breakfast menu, *he* wanted breakfast...but the rest of us still wanted lunch. The CM taking orders at the register heard our discussion and she said that our son could order breakfast and we could order lunch -- we'd just have to wait a few extra minutes for our lunch order to be ready. That worked out nicely...and once we all saw his breakfast, we knew we all wanted to try breakfast the next time. We really enjoy both breakfast *and* lunch there.

Awesome! So that's actually more like the time frame we would be looking at for lunch as this is our relaxation day/no plan day. ;)

We always stop at the Bakery on the Boardwalk for at least some pastries for Breakfast (mmmm, cinnamon buns.....) if not a lunch/dinner (sandwiches and such). Also, I loved the Wave for dinner when we went a few years back and have heard the breakfast is as good/better and most of the time you can walk up there.

For a nice, non-ADR breakfast, we enjoy Fresh Mediterranean Market at the Dolphin. (Don't let the word "Market" throw you. It is a restaurant.) Breakfast is either buffet (non-character), or a la carte. If you are in a rush, the buffet will get you in and out very quickly, and the food is very good. http://www.swandolphinrestaurants.com/menus/restaurant_menus/fresh/

As a general rule, non-signature resort restaurants have better quality, better prices and there is rarely a line or a wait. My favorite is the Grand California Cafe in the GF. It is a must do every trip and I never have to make an ADR.

Since FP+ started I've had to eliminate my TS lunches in the park. Too much rushing around and feeling over scheduled. Same thing with dinner. I don't want to be tied down anymore especially with the $10/person no show fee.

Thank you for the tip on non-signatures! This is our first time back since the new ARD system went into place. We have dinner reservations for the three of the four days in park but only because there were things we wanted to expedience (like BOG). I'm guessing next trip we won't schedule many ADRs.

Grand Floridian Cafe is always great and a huge favourite for us, and we can usually get a walk up there. We also like Olivia's at Old Key West. The patio outside is a lovely place to sit and the service and food have always been good for us.

Breakfast: Trail's End at Fort Wilderness takes ADRs but you can always get in without one
Dinner: Sanaa at AKV-Kidani--also ADR, but usually a good bet to get in without one
