Yay, another Corral E friend and we're both trying to escape the Great White North Winter!!! I'm down in Nova Scotia, so also having a winter storm day!

Just had a nice 5 mile run, thinking about going back out tomorrow. Since we're getting close to the race, what do you think my longest distance should be? I'm not trying to get any faster at this point, just want to keep going!

I personally wouldn't do anything more than 3 or 4 milers from here on out. I think the Galloway plan calls for 4 miles this weekend if I'm remembering correctly. But if you're feeling good, I don't see why you couldn't do a little more if you really wanted to.

Really depends on your training plan and how your body adjusts to training changes. My plan (by Hal Higdon) is a gradual build and calls for 12 miles this weekend, then two more short runs pre-race day. It doesn't call for a taper, because it is specifically structured that way. I have used it in 3 halves so far and it works for me. I can't go two weeks with no long runs. It is just the way I am, I seem to struggle if I do that. If I had already done my last long run, I'd probably still do a 10k this weekend. Because of my schedule this weekend and my travel next week I will actually do my last long run tomorrow and then a 10k Saturday, and 3-4 miles Monday before flying to FL Wednesday.

So I had been wearing Adrenalines for over pronation, and no longer needed them. I had become a neutral runner and the control shoes

Yes. My feet changed too. RRS would not listen to me. They also never look at how you run IN the shoes they pick, ever notice that? Just barefoot. I had to "just say no" to them and change shoes. They still "tsk tsk" at me but now it's probably because they don't carry what I use anymore. I'm just there as DH buys his shoes.

It is Dasani bottled water.

Which is local-to-the-bottling plant municipal water with extra filtration. So it could very well be filtered Orlando area water.

Doesn't have the funk, but it doesn't taste good to me!

Luckily, it was my LRS that noticed the change in my gait. They watch me walk barefoot, run barefoot, then they have me run in a neutral shoe, which is like barefoot in that it does not alter pronation, but more accurately shows footstrike pattern. You can strike your foot certain ways in shoes that you can not do barefoot, it would hurt too much. If they don't watch you in shoes they may get a false impression from barefoot. Then they bring out a couple models, and the process of trying on and test running begins. Anything I say I like, they watch me run in to see what I do differently if anything. I was lucky I found this store, they are incredibly thorough.

Glad to hear you guys got them! I have been struggling with her as well. Two weeks ago she responsed to my email (from a week earlier) saying my scarf was packed and ready to ship. But she didn't have my address- because she never sent me an invoice. That took another week- and another email from me. So now she has my money- a week later still no shipping notification. I emailed her this morning again- asking when it would be shipped. I am going to give her another week or so before I contact paypal and get my money back.

Too bad seems like she has a great product- although we all wonder where she got the fabric from? Spoonflower is possible but would they risk a Disney logo???
Bev

Personally, I just gave up like said. If your customers are emailing you (sent two) and leaving notes on Instagram (I think at least 5) saying they want a product and you realize that more than just you are having the same issue (poor/slow contact)- to me that says move on. Not worth the hassle. I'm sure it's not easy running that kind of business, and the holidays and her own Disney vacation didn't help. But that's the cost of doing business. I wouldn't recommend her now just because too many had the same issues or ones like yours.

I've never had issues with purchases other than them taking a bit longer than the original time quote. For my Princess ears, I did get a shipping notification (1-3 days), but it was more like a week. I attributed it to weather.

Lucky! Neither RoadRunner I've been to (my local one nor the original San Diego store) does anything but look at you barefoot. I've even asked them and they say it's not what they do and they say it's not important.

Oh well!

This is exactly what I have planned (10K this weekend, then 3-4 miles on Monday or Tuesday before I fly out on Thursday), and I follow Hal Higdon too. I just tweaked it a bit to add in a few extra weeks in case of weather or injury/illness, and added a couple back-to-back long runs.

Interesting that your RoadRunner stores don't have you walk or run in shoes. Mine did when I was initially fitted (last spring) and though I didn't go through the hassle of getting fitted again after trying on and running around the store in my newer shoes since they were the same model as my old ones just a year newer. Meanwhile the local running store couldn't be bothered to actually talk to me much less fit me. Perhaps because I don't look like the type of person you would guess is a runner at first glance? I know they do fitting but when I can't get them to make eye contact or talk to me when I'm the only customer in the store I can't be bothered to give them my business.

I picked up the rain poncho like @Keels suggested. My Target didn't have them in the travel size section but I found another one by umbrellas. It was less than $10 and I got red to match my Minnie Mouse outfit.

I have leggings to go under my sparkle skirt. I have compression socks. I have a long sleeved shirt to go under my short sleeved shirt if it is cold. I have blister pads. I have body glide. I have a tiara. What else do I need?

Gloves? I've got a couple pairs of the stretchy ones that are $1. My hands get cold in the mornings.

The dollar store is a good place to pick up gloves and rain poncho. I paid $1 for two ponchos and $1 for two cheap gloves. Funny thing, my son and I wore them for a 10k...it was a double loop and we ended up with our gloves at the end because we dropped then after the first loop.

Where's my merch preview? I hope they do capris again - I love my Dopey capris!

Capris?!?! Hadn't heard or seen of those.

I seem to recall the merch preview last year being pretty late as well. So maybe at the end of this week? In November for Avengers it was like a day or two before the expo opened. Ridiculous.

image.jpeg These are the Half Marathon ones (the Dopey ones were purple and orange) - they have screenprint on them that said 2016 "Event Name". I love them.
